  • Addresses an issue where dragging widgets on the Home Screen could remove apps from folders
Nice!! That was a friggin pain. Now I can mess around with Widgets again. :D
Now, I wonder if they've fixed the camera freeze/stutter/lag on iphone 8? .... installing iOS 14.1 as I type.

Edit:
Updated to 14.1
Still got the Error 4000 when updating via iTunes on Win 10 PC but I used the method prescribed in the iOS 14 thread and all good.
And yes, the widget/app folder issue is now gone!
The momentary camera freeze/lag when panning (wasn't a huge issue, just annoying) now appears to be fixed too. Overall it's not 100% smooth but close enough.

Is the Music app now lingering longer in the Notifications screen when closed (Music not playing and phone unlocked)?
I'm sure it never did this before. It just seems to disappear eventually, like after a minute or so.
Not sure if this is a feature or a bug. ?? or is there a setting somewhere??

I dont know what they did but my Apple Watch now drains slower. After updating to ios7 and 14.0.1 at the end of the day (around 23:00) watch was at 50-60%. Now I am at 89%, it is 14:00, and I took it of charger at 6:30. Anyone else having better battery life?

Anyone else only seeing unplayed podcasts on the first tab? Up next is of course supposed to do that, but most recent isn’t. Also, if there are no unplayed episodes the first tab acts as if there are no subscriptions, not showing recently played episodes at the bottom.

Gonna ask one last time - can anyone confirm/deny whether they are seeing this behaviour?
As an example, in the screenshots you can see the same podcast played status on 14.0.1 and on 14.1.

No fix for the major WiFi problem ! Disgrace

Is it because you have the new Private Address feature enabled for the network you’re connected to? As it’s on by default. Try turning it off, as you only need it on for public networks and not your home one.

I've been having wifi connectivity issues on my iPad Pro 10,5 for the last few months. It would drop the connection randomly and it would happen every 10-15 min. I messed around with the settings and it didn't help. Also tried taking a look into my router settings, nothing. But the issue is not necessarily due to iPadOS 14 as this has been happening on my iPad since iPadOS 13. Maybe something in the new software, a security setting or whatever, just aggravates the issue.

I thought it was a hardware problem wih the iPad, but then I realized that I cannot be sure my iPhone XR doesn't also have this issue, even though I never saw it happen, as the phone has mobile data and Wi-Fi assist is turned on so I wouldn't notice it. Then I had a couple of instances where it seemed like my Macbook Air dropped the connection so I figured it's time to replace the router. Reported wifi issues to my ISP, now waiting for the guys to come around and service the router, which basically means to replace it. I think it's probably either a hardware issue with the router or the router is old and the new software from Apple causes conflicts with older hardware/firmware.

Also, another thing to consider is that maybe this issue is caused by too many devices being connected to the same router. It crossed my mind that I am possibly seeing this issue on my iPad since buying the Apple Watch, which is also connected to my home wifi, so maybe it's too many devices on the network. It's an old router and I've read this can be an issue as newer routers will have support for more devices simultaneously and for a higher level of security (too low a level can also cause disconnects, apparently).

Anyway, just wanted to write this so maybe you can consider factors that are outside of your device. I agree that the suggested steps like reseting the phone or forgetting the network and logging back in don't work. Hopefully it's something mundane like having to replace the router. I should get the new router the day after tomorrow, meanwhile I'm on iPadOS 14.1 since yesterday and I haven't noticed a single instance of wifi dropping.

Same. iOS 14 has been very good for me, no issues on the XR other than stutters and frame drops that have become common in iOS 13. Now with iOS 14.1. it seems much smoother and I'm seeing frame drops that are few and far between.

Many users have the WiFi poblem I’ve noticed on social media, but not all strangely. I had a look around the router but nothing is different and the WiFi dropping only happened when IOS 14 was released.

See my post before this one.....

It makes no difference, unfortunately.

Hmm no idea then. Maybe have to pair to multiple devices before that option exists??
How is your experience with the iPhone XR on iOS 14.1? I have an iPhone XR as a back up phone but it’s still on 13.7. And also what’s your experience with battery life

In addition to the keyboard lag now there’s a lag with the Apple Pencil. A slight one for drawing but if you use it when typing it will skip letters. Both my wife and I have noticed it on our two iPad Pros.

Is the Apple translate app failing for anyone else?
I tap to enter text, type out a word, then hit the blue button in the keyboard and... nothing happens.

eventually I get an error “translation is currently unavailable” or something similar.

Same with voice: I hit the mic button, it shows me a waveform as I speak, but nothing happens. And then eventually the error. Been happening since last night.

Both are fine. No real issues for me, very fluid and responsive. Also battery is finally about the same as it was with 13.7 as far as I can tell.

With the release of iOS 14.1 the same bugs and issues continue to exist. Not to mention, I download 14.2 beta 4 on my other iPhone and those problems are still occurring.

1. Notifications sounds are silent while on a call and I cannot hear the keyboards clicks.
2. iMessage typing lag
3. When I open up iMessage after fully closing out the app the keyboard has a glitch.
4. Sharing suggestions of contacts are gone. It started with ios 14 and they still don't show up.
5. Randomly my sound goes to 0 volume. I have to go to settings --> sounds and move the sound bar back to the highest.

This is unacceptable after downloading iOS 14, 14.0.1, 14.1, and even 14.2 beta 4.

Inform Apple directly of any bugs you find.

Maybe try a factory reset and configure as a new iPhone ? It can solve a lot of things.

It's possible that the 1st item might be an intentional change in functionality.

Beyond that, while it's definitely good for bugs not to be there or to be addressed quickly, often enough that isn't the case for a variety of them. It's not to say that's good or right or anything like that, but more that it's nothing really all that new or surprising.

I wonder why the Weather widget does not get updated regularly, meaning that I have to click on it to go to the app and get out of the app to get it updated!!!

Thank God it fixed that bug where all calls in the US were showing up as United States on the call screen, then showing the correct region information in the call log.

That's pretty emblematic of Apple's QA these days. That made it thru multiple betas and into the actual release. Like, at LEAST get the phone portion of the iPhone working right. Especially since 13 other versions of your software had it working right.

Because there’s a limit on how often a widget can update, from what I’ve read.

It's a little unfortunate given that at least for certain widgets that makes them less useful, especially considering the old widgets would generally get refreshed when needed and be up to date.
