Does 14.1 resolve the keyboard lag when typing? It's extremely annoying and it's still present 14.2 so I'm curious to see if that's been resolved here.

Where would that be?
Discussed or where is the setting? Here are two such posts in various beta threads. I happened to remember @s2mike had mentioned it several times when a few folks were asking about it.

Unfortunately, iOS 14.1 does NOT fix the ringer volume muting/random-volume bug that was in 14.0 and 14.0.1. Symptom is that my ringer volume (in settings, with "change with buttons" OFF) randomly resets from where i want it (50%) to 0% or 25% or whatever throughout the day. It just did it 3 times now on 14.1 while I sat here. You'd think something big like a RINGER being able to work would be a priority...

It’s almost like they don’t even test their own updates before they send them out.

I think noticed that too but if I i go one step back in settings menu then in again it’s back to where I had already set it to without touching anything.

Strange, I don't seem to see options of that sort when I look through various AirPod settings on my iPhone.

Release notes:

iOS 14.1 includes improvements and bug fixes for your iPhone.
  • Adds support for 10-bit HDR video playback and edit in Photos for iPhone 8 and later
  • Addresses an issue where some widgets, folders, and icons were showing up in reduced size on the Home Screen
  • Addresses an issue where dragging widgets on the Home Screen could remove apps from folders
  • Fixes an issue where some emails in Mail were sent from an incorrect alias
  • Fixes an issue that could prevent incoming calls from displaying region information
  • Fixes an issue on some devices where selecting zoomed display mode and an alphanumeric passcode could result in the Lock Screen emergency call button overlapping with the text input box
  • Addresses an issue where some users were occasionally unable to download or add songs to their library while viewing an album or playlist
  • Fixes an issue that could prevent zeroes from appearing in Calculator
  • Resolves an issue where streaming video resolution could temporarily be reduced at the start of playback
  • Fixes an issue that prevented setting up a family member’s Apple Watch for some users
  • Resolves an issue where the Apple Watch case material was displayed incorrectly in the Apple Watch app
  • Addresses an issue in the Files app that could cause some MDM-managed cloud service providers to incorrectly display content as unavailable
  • Improves compatibility with Ubiquiti wireless access points

I know that A11 Bionic iPhones and above can play HDR (the ones which have a screen res lower than 1080p play more fake HDR) but even iPhone 8 having the ability to play 10bit video. Sweet

how about iPad line having this feature. I assume second gen iPad Pro and later (since they are the only iPads so far to have a HDR Screen but 10 bit video though)

I've seen this issue as well. A few times, mid ring, it goes from quiet to super loud. Then when I go back to fix in Settings, it's turned all the way down. I tried generating a sysdiagnose but I'm not sure you can trigger that in a GM build or a general release. Didn't feel the 2 quick pulses.

For me, this same issue has also happened with other app's notifications like Mail & Messages.

Regarding the Ringer and System Sounds Volume randomly going up and down, mine seems to follow whatever setting I've last had YouTube at.

Well I just saw this

  • Adds support for 10-bit HDR video playback and edit in Photos for iPad Pro 12.9‑inch (2nd generation) and later, iPad Pro 11‑inch, iPad Pro 10.5-inch, iPad Air (3rd generation) and later, and iPad mini (5th generation)

  • funny enough how 8th gen iPad doesn’t have this feature but Air 3/Mini 5 does.. and they don’t have HDR screens nor brightness level around the same as the pros/iPhone 8

  • EDIT: maybe because of P3 color perhaps that 10bit HDR is in these devices (since 8th gen iPad lacks it)

Have you reported?

By any chance is this still an issue with iOS 14.2 betas?

Holy mother of pearl. The typing lag in Notes was irritating but workable in 14.0.1. Now it barely moves at two letters per second. Horrific. Unusable.

Do they internally test anything anymore?

I do hope the random WiFi disconnect has been fixed as nothing suggested fixes the problem.

I've been having wifi connectivity issues on my iPad Pro 10,5 for the last few months. It would drop the connection randomly and it would happen every 10-15 min. I messed around with the settings and it didn't help. Also tried taking a look into my router settings, nothing. But the issue is not necessarily due to iPadOS 14 as this has been happening on my iPad since iPadOS 13. Maybe something in the new software, a security setting or whatever, just aggravates the issue.

I thought it was a hardware problem wih the iPad, but then I realized that I cannot be sure my iPhone XR doesn't also have this issue, even though I never saw it happen, as the phone has mobile data and Wi-Fi assist is turned on so I wouldn't notice it. Then I had a couple of instances where it seemed like my Macbook Air dropped the connection so I figured it's time to replace the router. Reported wifi issues to my ISP, now waiting for the guys to come around and service the router, which basically means to replace it. I think it's probably either a hardware issue with the router or the router is old and the new software from Apple causes conflicts with older hardware/firmware.

Also, another thing to consider is that maybe this issue is caused by too many devices being connected to the same router. It crossed my mind that I am possibly seeing this issue on my iPad since buying the Apple Watch, which is also connected to my home wifi, so maybe it's too many devices on the network. It's an old router and I've read this can be an issue as newer routers will have support for more devices simultaneously and for a higher level of security (too low a level can also cause disconnects, apparently).

Anyway, just wanted to write this so maybe you can consider factors that are outside of your device. I agree that the suggested steps like reseting the phone or forgetting the network and logging back in don't work. Hopefully it's something mundane like having to replace the router. I should get the new router the day after tomorrow, meanwhile I'm on iPadOS 14.1 since yesterday and I haven't noticed a single instance of wifi dropping.

Way smoother here on my iPhone Xr...

Same. iOS 14 has been very good for me, no issues on the XR other than stutters and frame drops that have become common in iOS 13. Now with iOS 14.1. it seems much smoother and I'm seeing frame drops that are few and far between.

I have a similar issue whereby the ringer/alert volume regularly changes to match the media/speaker volume when "change with buttons" is ON. Turning it off fixes the issue.

I originally logged this (Feedback, as I run the betas) on iOS 13 but it was closed as "working as expected". As iOS 13 was Apple's "we're going to release a pile of crap, watch us ignore all bug reports" release, I opened a new one and it was ignored.

iOS 14.0 fixed the issue (in most of the betas) but it's come back in 14.2 betas. I've logged another Feedback (yes, it annoys me that much) and this time it does say "more than 10" other reports. However, even their own Feedback database is a mess (maybe they use iCloud ....) and some days it says "none" and some days it says "more than 10".

Changing the volume is such a simple and fundamental part of the OS, I really don't understand why they can't allocate just one competent developer to fix it. Probably all too busy playing with magnets.

Ah, that was a nice rant.
