Has iOS gotten worse at switching audio?

If I’m listening to Music on my AirPods and then watch a video that someone sends me via iMessage, after the video is closed iOS used to switch back to Music audio and pick up where the song left off.

Now it doesn’t do that anymore. Kinda sucks.

Also, did they do away with the whole “long pressing the Now Playing window in Control Center shows Siri Suggestions” thing?

In past betas, if you weren’t actively listening to music, long pressing the Now Playing section would bring up 4-6 Apple Music suggestions. Haven’t seen that in a while.

It's still there. It'll only appear when you haven't recently played anything.
To see, force quit the music app and when you long press the Now Playing in Control Center, you should see the suggestions.

Yeah, that stopped working for me several betas ago. Weird. Still doesn’t work.

Weird, I haven't experienced that issue.
Mine shows a mix of podcasts and music.

Damn, I miss that.

I’m guessing it has something to do with my Siri suggestions - they’ve been all screwy throughout iOS 14. I lost all the contact suggestions on the share sheet for a few weeks a while back, then they randomly returned.

My mouse pointer is now larger (iPad Pro), about twice its normal size, and when I went in to change it, it was set to the smallest settings. Anyone else?

Have you tried toggling the music app settings under Siri & Search?
I'm pretty sure there's other people that are missing Siri Suggestions in the Share Sheet and so far there doesn't seem to be a fix for it.

is it normal that they turn back on optimised charging every time for ya after rebooting your phone? Not sure if it happens to me before 14.2 but it is definitely like so after this update.

Yeah I gave it a shot. Hoping things return to normal when I set my new iPhone 12 mini up from scratch next week 🤞🏻

I’m getting a text saying “Now Playing on Airplay” over the app CBS All Access when watching the video using the AirPods Pro... anyone else?

Is the weird Device.management toggle still there under location in the system services section?

14.2 disables the Delete key on a Smart Keyboard Folio when trying to delete a message from the message list in Mail. This is on my 3rd gen 12.9 iPad Pro. It will delete text but does nothing when trying to delete a message.

So far 14.2 has solved my issue of the phone overheating and fast battery drain (iPhone SE 2020).

Great new features. FWIW I’m not sure how much I’ll use the Shazam music recognition since I already use Siri for that.

Love the new background photos, especially on my iPad.

Also, I noticed 3rd party Bluetooth headphones now get a notification when connected.

Good lord WTF have they done with mouse support on iPad? The cursor is now massive even on the smallest setting, and clicking on the home bar no longer brings you home and seems to do nothing?

Edit: Got it sorted. Had to turn off assistive touch.

14.2 beta has been a bit hit and miss, will see with the public release, when I have a full day with it tomorrow.

Apple have stopped calling it GM, it seems, as per the Developer site, they call it RC now and there was only 1 RC last week. It will have installed with the beta profile, as it's a newer build.

macOS is now on RC, not GM.

Long song and artist names no longer scroll on the music player on the lockscreen and control center. Same as with the RC. They are now truncated with ...at the end.
was hoping this was a bug but I guess not.

iOS 14.2 has tons of bugs. Could certainly be one.

For a device that has its roots in the iPod, which revolutionized the way we consume music, the deterioration of the music app interface over the years is frustrating. It seems like it is designed by someone who doesn’t understand those of us who love music, and want/need to see additional information. At the least, there should be an “advanced” view option, if not fully granular customization. I want full titles and song length back in list view. A horizontal view with more info would be nice too. And alerts when an album or songs in your library are no longer available/removed from Apple Music...

It seems like you are missing the guy with the passion to make his team deliver on the best experience and make money while doing it.
