C'mon man, you said previously that you wanted to use Google maps to find your phone. Your direct quote was:

".......but when I loose my phone I want to be able to find on the google map through i cloud?"

Its all good though. As you stated you found a way that will work for you so all is worked out now I suppose

Ok when you use iCloud lost feature it loads google maps it doesn’t open google duck maps? Get it.... when you go into I cloud it open either google maps or Apple Maps to locate your phone that’s what I meant

I don’t want to argue cause I had everything off with location services and it worked for me 2-3 times maybe in the last 14 months or is since iOS 13 or what ever .

So why did it work for me with location disabled than? And it did a fine good job for me, but I at the time was charging my phone using OeM cable through my iMac that’s the only difference I remember so idk man what to tell it’s not right it doesn’t need location services it’s bugged out and algorithms are not working properly
Ok we will go with that. Apple has it wrong I suppose. Maybe you should send feedback that their support document regarding this is totally incorrect and misleading folks on how to use Optimized charging.

BTW mine never worked until I set up exactly like their document states. And I use an Anker charger (not OEM) and it now works every day since. Weird I guess.

So there is not an active Watch OS 7.2 Beta 3 Thread. I am looking for someone to confirm an issue I am experiencing.

When I install an App with an Apple Watch version of the App it is not installing the app on the Watch. If you click on the Install button for the app in the Watch app it reacts like installing and stops with no error. However if you download an App directly from the Watch OS App Store the does install.

I have unpaired and paired the watch again. No improvement
I have installed Watch as new no restore. No improvement

Anyone that can confirm?
I had that issue. The only thing that corrected it for me (which I did as part of trying to sort out optimised charging) is to erase my 12 PM and set it up as a new phone. This then forces the watch to be setup again and I set that up as new too.

Had the issue on 7.2 Beta 2 and since doing the above it works ok now. Annoying having to go to such an extreme. But I couldn't find any other way around it.

No need for OEM. There are very specific requirements and one being location services and significant locations etc. both of which you don’t use so yours will never work.
Mine is and has always been setup as per that document. It worked every day on my X, XS Max and 11 Pro Max.

Yet with the 12 Pro Max I waited 2 weeks (I used the transfer option when I initially set the phone up) and nothing. So I wiped the phone and set it up as new. That was 8 days ago and it still hasn't activated itself (even though it's supposed to work after 5 (annecdotally).

I've checked the privacy settings in location and they're all on as supposed to be. I've checked my significant location history and that has my home set correct and has also populated stuff from back in October. I am assuming it does this through maps/iCloud.

So my only option left now which I have seen as a solution is to clear the significant location history and start again. But going to wait the 2 weeks again before I do.

I even used a 29w apple charger and apple USB-C to Lightning cable the last couple of days and it's made no difference.

Has anyone with a 12 Pro Max got optimised battery charging working?

I've had my phone nearly 3 weeks now and optimised charging worked perfectly with the beta on my 11 pro max. But on the 12 pro max it doesn't seem to work?

I've checked all the required settings, especially in Privacy--Location, are all on as they should be.
Mine is working. I didn't do anything and after two weeks it started.

my understanding is you need OEM charger and OEM cable nothing after market to make this work properly.

cause I was using my iMac to charge it when I saw that my regular charger is WI fast charger and Belkin lightning ⚡️ cable
Doesn't need to be OEM. I'm using an Anker charging stand and power hub and it works just fine.

I posted the following on the 14.2 forum but didn’t get any replies:
I’ve seen many references to people not receiving iMessage notifications. I’m not getting any notifications, such as alerts from news apps. Do others have this problem?

And your 12 is on this beta? Seems there are just issues with the iP12 models that don't seem to be problems on older devices either on these betas or release iOS.

I’ve more or less given up on this feature. It’s worked from time to time (I mainly use an Anker sled type wireless charger). However, my bedtime varies pretty significantly each night (by 1.5-2 hours) so I’m guessing it is being flummoxed by that. It shouldn’t, though as during “core” sleep hours, I am always charging (say 11pm-5:30 am).

That messaging issue with notifications etc seems to be pretty widespread. I’ve noticed friends and family complaining about it now. From iPhone 7’s to iPhone 12’s. None seem to be spared. I’ve moved to android till this gets better sorted out and find my iPhone friends/family texts frequently fail to reach me. Another issue, cross platform texting.

Been trying out different parental Control settings as my grand-daughter has shown me on her 8+ (14.2) how you can easily get around them.
Sad to say, while not new to beta 3, Parental Controls (Screentime) have all kinds of issues.

So yes, this process is still broken under beta 3.

People on the beta, thoughts about performance and battery life?

Performance is very good. I kinda sorta suspect some of that is from speeding up animations. Still overall it is doing really well.

Battery is , let’s call it ho-hum. It has been inconsistent for me. It it is either great or poor for the same type of daily tasks. With this beta I am not sure if I’ll have 25% or 45% by late evening.

To be honest I don’t understand why Apple can’t implement into the feature that if you have an alarm set and put it on charge. It will automatically run the optimised charging feature unless you tell it not to.

Same as I don’t understand why they can’t implement a way to set different do not disturb schedules by days. So one schedule for the working week and one for weekends for example.

I’ve suggested both as feedback since both features were implemented (optimised charging and do not disturb) but seems that not many people want that level of control. Or Apple don’t care.

Ratings only apply to Apple apps
You can remove Facetime app, exclude it in Controls, however in messages you can activate and use it.
Controls applied to apps can be bypassed by selecting the extra minutes function.
Limit Contacts and block accordingly can be bypassed byb texting a phone number to yourself in Mesages and dialing from within messages.
If you limit an app (ex: YouTube) and it has in internal search feature, that search feature bypasses comtrols and limits.
many many more 🤭

Sort of mentioned this in a recent post but regarding the issue with messaging was wondering if anyone here texts to an android phone with their iMessage option turned on. I find when friends text to my pixel if their iMessage option is turned on I don’t get the message. They turn it off and the message comes thru. I’ve not had this problem before. Part of the messaging bug I think. The way I understand it is if no iMessage device (android) is available to receive the message it defaults to regular SMS. Problem is it’s not working.

Funny you mention this both my parent have pixel and today trying to them them couple of times the message failed to send I had to copy and try again.

also for some reason on my phone some android phone numbers turn blue like they have iMessage 💬??? I have to exit the txt app and go back into contacts and send txt from selecting contact it self and they say sent txt message?

it think android is an iPhone?

It doesn't seem to be consistent either. A family member texted me on an iPhone 7 and no problem. A friend texted on an XR and I never got it. Asked them to try with iMessage turned off and it worked fine. The lack of consistency leads me to wonder if there will not be a quick fix for this as it doesn't seem common across all models. nor is it a beta issue as none of these folks do betas..
This like the iOS 13 email issue, keeps going and going. Hopefully the iOS 14 message issue won't last as long.

You right that email crap was crazy I don’t even k is it ever got fixed in iOS 13 lol

Still existing in b3 for IPP 11 with Magic Keyboard - The OnScreen Keyboard will show up frequently even though the IPP is docked to the MK. This Does Not occur for the Logitech Folio.

It has gotten better but not fully fixed - Mail

Messages - I send from my 12 ProMax to various Samsung devices and they do get them. Sometimes, infrequently I will see a fail from my side.
I'm not seeing a fail, odd. They just don't get the message. They also text me and they're not mentioning seeing a fail either, they think I got the message.

Quite a big modem firmware jump for the 12 models from 14.2.1. I am hoping this improves the data speeds on Verizon, on top of the carrier profile, because my 5G/LTE speeds are garbage here in Houston most of the time. Didn't have these issues on my X when these 12 models were first released. I was switched from a grandfathered unlimited plan that I got years ago with my iPhone 5 to a newer unlimited plan with access to 5G ultra wide and hotspot access. This is a corporate plan.View attachment 1685282
yikes!!! 🤕
Happened with transition from Qualcomm to Qualcomm/Intel (mixed bag with iP X) to Intel, and now back to Qualcomm...
Apple/Qualcomm have some definite issues to address concerning marketing over actual functionality of practical mobile (not sitting still!) connectivity!!
