This is definitely quicker on my 8, animations seem sped up or something. WiFi also seems faster with the modern upgrade. Keyboard hasn’t lagged in messages and I’ve received all notifications so far.... jury still out...

At this point I would just keep this as the final because it seems like they take 1 step forward and 2 back with the final releases lately. With the 14.2 RC all was fine and then 14.2 final introduced the keyboard lag missed notifications.

Crazy it worked once for me and that was it and it was a week or two ago I seen the notification asking if I want to charge all the way by 530 am lol.

It never worked me since they released that option. Just google the problem alone you have answers all the the place why it works and why it doesn’t and for most people it does t work at all. So idk
No need for OEM. There are very specific requirements and one being location services and significant locations etc. both of which you don’t use so yours will never work.

Hey, can you answer a simple question for me I forget how this works. I never have my location services enable and last time a year ago I had find my phone disabled because I though it gave out my location or tracked me.

Now if I have location services off for entire phone but have find my phone on and all the setting checked off to find my phone, when I go to iCloud and press lost phone the location services get activated via gps and WiFi and LTE and I’m able to to locate the most phone using map location correct? Or will that feature not work because I have location services turned off all the time and it needs to be on?

I’m confused I refuse to be tracked my apps and people daily etc etc but when I loose my phone I want to be able to find on the google map through i cloud? And I get co friction report, some say you need to have location services on other say no, you just need to enable find my phone feature and when you press lost phone it will activate location services during that time only?

Please let me know you guys would know best

You do know that you're constantly tracked by your carrier based on which cell sites you're connected to, right?

12 ProMax / AirPods Pro
Ran into a new one this morning.
I have AirPods in and am listening to a podcast when I get an incoming call.
I answer the call. My phone is apparently waiting on me to "choose" what speaker method. Meanwhile I am on a call where I have no sound from either device speaker nor AirPods. Once I choose, the choice works.

Having it wait for me to choose especially with AirPods in is something I have not seen in a while.

Problem solved yes you can location off but when you enable lost mode via iCloud location services turn back on.

So no I don’t need to have location services on, only my device lost feature on iPhone iPad or Mac etc etc

this was not case in previous iOS 12 or so. I lost my phone 2 years ago and didn’t have this feature at all
For the Location Services to be turned ON automatically your device needs to be connected to the internet so it could receive the request from Apple’s servers to place it in Lost Mode. But if your is turned off and your iPhone is never connected to the internet, there’s no way of tracking down your iPhone.

You don’t want to be tracked but you’re using Google? 😳

WiFi calling option not showing for physical sim data plan on dual sim iPhone.
This is not a cosmetic issue. Needs to be rectified.

Embarrassing? For who?

Have you opened up the code and figured out the issue?

For Apple. Of course I haven't opened up the code to figure out the issue - that's why we all pay Apple a thousand dollars for phones. I'm not saying there should never be bugs but these are basic features that a) were working previously, b) are very visible and well-reported on, and c) haven't been fixed for months. What do you do for a living? I'd love to extend your reasoning/justification to businesses other than software development.

So there is not an active Watch OS 7.2 Beta 3 Thread. I am looking for someone to confirm an issue I am experiencing.

When I install an App with an Apple Watch version of the App it is not installing the app on the Watch. If you click on the Install button for the app in the Watch app it reacts like installing and stops with no error. However if you download an App directly from the Watch OS App Store the does install.

I have unpaired and paired the watch again. No improvement
I have installed Watch as new no restore. No improvement

Anyone that can confirm?

I work in IT managing the POTS and MDM devices used for electronic health records at two state facilities and my days are chock full of frustration due to software behaving badly.

Yeh I love it also mine is smooth

I never used locations and mine worked 1-2 times has nothing to do with location services at all. Mine were off 3 days ago when it worked one time this year. It’s so erratic it doesn’t make sense why it works and why it doesn’t.

Yes but that’s normal, it’s much harder for police or government to pin point your exact location like google maps down to your home address you know.

You don’t want to be tracked but you’re using Google? 😳
I use duck search engine I was saying when it comes to gps and apple tracking and service location you Miss understood me between me using specific search engine and how and what I was asking for lost phone location services. I got my answer, you can have location services off but just need to enable find my phone and go to iCloud account and click lost phone and it will enable location services automatically when the phone is lost and services are disabled. I verified this via internet and even called apple.
It can also find the phone using Bluetooth and other devices near by when people have their blue tooth enables

Has nothing to do with a14 my xs iPhone has same

I have xs Max and I can do 8 hours non stop use in my phone social video web email etc etc before my battery gets to 5 percent from 100....and that’s straight using it never turning off the screen at all or letting the phone go into stand by mode .

I use my phone as a computer some days even 12 hours non stop with charging it after 8 hours of use

Well my battery life was about 86%.. so I’m not sure about that cause my XS max lasted long but not that long

Idk mine is the same as my sister 12 pro Max model I tested last week. Who knows certain apps drain more than other but it’s very close with usage

Did you even look at the document I linked for you? It 1000% does have to do with not only locations but SPECIFIC locations like your home and workplace.

<<Optimized charging is designed to engage only in locations where you spend the most time, such as your home and place of work. The feature doesn't engage when your usage habits are more variable, such as when you travel. Because of this, some location settings must be enabled for Optimized Battery Charging to activate. None of the location information used for this feature is sent to Apple.

Here are a list of settings that must be enabled:

  • Settings > Privacy > Location Services > Location Services.
  • Settings > Privacy > Location Services > System Services > System Customization.
  • Settings > Privacy > Location Services > System Services > Significant Locations > Significant Locations.>>

I don’t want to argue cause I had everything off with location services and it worked for me 2-3 times maybe in the last 14 months or is since iOS 13 or what ever .

So why did it work for me with location disabled than? And it did a fine good job for me, but I at the time was charging my phone using OeM cable through my iMac that’s the only difference I remember so idk man what to tell it’s not right it doesn’t need location services it’s bugged out and algorithms are not working properly

Shhh nothing that’s not the same as google maps down to street level and home address and watching which houses and places you visit. Cell towers give you general idea up to 15 mile
C'mon man, you said previously that you wanted to use Google maps to find your phone. Your direct quote was:

".......but when I loose my phone I want to be able to find on the google map through i cloud?"

Its all good though. As you stated you found a way that will work for you so all is worked out now I suppose
