I am still firmly in the camp that these issues are the result of individual setups/app configurations. I never have these stutter/lag problems or these massive battery drain problems (at least on late betas or released software). Even on earlier betas, it’s usually only the accelerated battery drain.

Right note my 12PM is smooth as butter and experiencing no battery issues at all.

To make it even crazier, the app freesing and stutter issues I have been seeing on my IPP 11 struck my 12 PM this morning.
Heckfire and Youtube both froze. Had to kill and relaunch the app.

Wish I could say it was the setup. I have an 11 PM setup that mirrors my 12 PM. If the 11 starts having issues ... but if not ...

@doboy - this freezing is getting nutty.

I concur. I do not remember the last time my iPhone stuttered.
It’s also possible that you just don’t notice these things. A lot of people don’t. That doesn’t mean they don’t exist. The general consensus is that iOS 14 is simply less “smooth” overall than previous versions. And things will only get worse as the years go on as iOS gets more and more complex. There are issues others have here that I’ve never had and I do agree a lot has to do with apps.

A perfect example is when iOS 14 first launched I had massive heat up issues with my iPhone 12 and the battery draining VERY fast. Lo and behold I found out weeks later it was the Ford Pass app causing this as TONS of people started reporting it.

Also with the amount of data apps mine in the background ( regardless of your settings ) is growing as well which is a whole other issue.

Things are infinitely more complex with apps than even 5 years ago. For better or worse. Which is why apple bragging about speeds, feeds and transistors is pretty much pointless. I can pull out an iPod touch from ten years ago running iOS 6 and it’s actually runs fine.....because the software was much simpler back then.

Have you tried pull out the SIM card for a while and restart the phone to see whether the issue still happened? Don’t use airplane mode for this.
It seems the battery drains was triggered by issue on the cellular module (where ip12 has 5G option, compared to non-ip12, even though 5G is not used).

FYI, if you have AssistiveTouch enabled try disabling it if you have issues with 14.4. Turning this off solved some of my issues on my iPad. Something easy to try.

Having an issue with latest beta update I haven’t seen mentioned here as yet. Maybe it’s just me but problem has to do with sending a text to an android phone. My daughter has an android and uses an iPad as well. I texted her as usual and it shows up on the iPad even tho I’m texting using her phone number and her iPad is not tied to any number or to any carrier. The texts go to the iPad even when it’s turned off, showing up as it boots up. If I turn off iMessage all sent text attempts fail every time. This never happened before.
I’ve tried signing out of iMessage, and back in, double checked send as SMS is on, also tried resetting network settings and of course a simple reboot. This started with latest beta. Hoping for another beta update this week to see if it fixes it. (SE 20)

Just saying “general consensus” does not make it so. Please provide data behind that. Otherwise, its anecdotal, in a forum inhabited by techier than usual people. And of those, only those who have complaints. Hardly consensus making material.

My IPP 11 is wifi only.
On my 12 ProMax I did notice that the device will get very warm in the area of the Silence switch right before it freezes. I did a Sim card check and hard reboot of the phone this morning to see if that helps. Crossing fingers.

Do you share an iCloud account or iCloud email?

Not sure if this is just my imagination.....but playing podcasts on the native app it does seem as if the sound is richer and more deep sounding, tried this on my AirPods Pro & Powerbeats pro (iPhone XS).

Bad news from my mini after update ti 14.4. Battery drain is double than 14.3. Unespected and disappointing.

Update:
Didn't make it past the two hour mark before I had another freeze. App: Lightroom
I was curious so I removed the leather back from my 12PM and found in the area and one other, where the phone gets hot, the backing adhesive had been destroyed.

Anyone else notice in 14.4 that the music app is slower. With air playing and viewing some full albums?

I’m not sure why shutting off optimized battery charging would do anything since all it does is make it slow charge 🤷‍♂️

Third parts widgets doesn't work if the 'widget section' is summoned from lockscreen/Notification Center, even if phone is unlocked. Restart fixes but it's temporary (one example is the Philips Hue widget)

Does anyone else have an issue with iOS 14.4 and if you are on safari and you get a notification, say for a new text, and you click on the notification look at the text and then hit the return to safari in the upper left, and all you get is a blurred phone. iPhone 11 Pro Max
