Never do Apple delta updates.
I just tried to install it using my Mac running the latest version of Catalina. No dice. You have to be running Big Sur to install 14.4. Apple...WTF?!?!

Good lord, that's a terrible prompt. The only update showing in Software Update is for Big Sur, yet after some research I learned this just updates some minor package. Really lame.

The app switcher animation lag on iPhone 12 Pro seems to be gone. Been using the beta for the past 8 hours with no issues yet. Last beta it showed up within an hour or two. 🤞
Interresting that you day that! Thought I was making this up, but things feel a little bit smoother animation wise for me too.

Also interesting in a good way is that in Big Sur 11.2 (I just today installed the the release candidate) it seems smoother to move windows over to a second screen (from my external screen to the one of my 2018 13" MacBook Pro) than it did before. Much less stutter than I remember. Let's see if it last or if it's just because out devices has been freshly restarted. :)

The stupid empty/shortened text box bug is still there upon opening a message thread in Messages.

Yup. What’s weird is the RC fixed that issue for my 12Pro. However I did a full OS iTunes install today and it’s back.. even though it’s the same software.

Edit.

Any word if this fixes the Apple Watch not ringing with phone calls? Apparently a bug with CarPlay? Have to turn off Bluetooth and then turn off phone after disconnecting from the car to get my watch to ring for phone calls. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Same! Still having this issue on 14.4. Hoping next Beta works itself out, but not holding my breath. Been like this ever since 14.0. Didn’t happen on 13. Not like it hurts anything or makes something not work but very annoying to say the least! My top bug as of right now. Thx for the feedback!

Worked fine for me installing 14.4 on iPad Air 2 and iPhone 12 through lightning cable. macOS 10.15.7

I believe 14.4 fixed a bug with Podcasts for me. Before, when you were playing a podcast higher than 1x via AirPlay (to AirPods, for example) and skipped ahead, the app would show that it was playing but stop audio for up to 30 seconds before resuming playback. Hell for anyone that listens to podcasts faster than 1x. Can anyone else confirm this is fixed?

Why do people make these idiotic, demonstrably untrue claims? What do they get out of it?

No, you do not have to be running Big Sur in order to install iOS 14.4.

You are correct. I edited my post. That said, this prompt is really awful. The only available update in Software Update is Big Sur, but clicking install just updates some random package. That's a terrible process.

First night after update from 14.3 to 14.4. Battery drain is maybe worst than before, from 100% to 95% in 10h, usually it lose 2-3% after full charge in the same time. Will see if it depends on indexing or not...a bit scared, 14.3 was not so bad at all!

iPhone 12 mini, update with iTunes (~5gb)

I wish for OSwide Nintendo Switch Pro controller support.
Please, Apple/Nintendo.

Crossing my fingers every time a new OSupdate comes out.

Will check if they finally fixed the Messages bug when you attach a photo or a picture from the library, hit "Send" and the attachment disappears and the message is not sent.
This bug has been present for me since freaking iOS 13 and I just don't have enough words to describe how pissed I am with the behaviour of the built-in apps. Reported it like three times.

Iphone 8 bricked in OTA update process from 14.3 to 14.4. Be careful and make backup before update. Nothing helps to revive the phone. :(

You saved yourself with the qualifier. But why even comment on it? The re-indexing thing is a well known phenomenon. If it’s happening after 2-3 days, then it’s a thing. Until then, it’s really not.

Just a week ago I made update from 14.2.1 to 14.3, even by itunes (restore and update). In that case I saw an immediate battery improvement from the first night (nothing exceptional of course), I would say from 0.7-0.8/H to 0.6-0.7/H. Considering that when the phone indicates 100% it is actually 105-106% effective, drain after the first night with iOS 14.4 seems to have risen to 0.9-1.1/H.
OBVIOUSLY mine is not an absolute sentence, but only a preliminary observation!
