Just updated my 2020 11” from 14.01 to 14.4 mainly due to security fixes. Now scrolling in Safari using both Magic Keyboard trackpad and Magic Trackpad II is jerky and sometime non-responsive. Disappointments with every update :( Would’ve waited if it weren’t for those security fixes.

14.4 is a STUTTERFEST. Apple doesn’t get to brag about having the fastest anything when basic swiping, scrolling and swiping to go home are herky-jerky On the LATEST devices.

Hi, an iPhone 8 user here.

I did update the iOS from 14.3 through OTA and it feels the phone doesn’t get warm too often like it did on 14.3, thus the battery life seems way better in my personal experience.

I feel there’s a bit stutter when typing but to me it’s still acceptable.

Please, stop spreading this indexing lie. It’s not possible that your phone takes up to 3 days indexing. It should be completed the first night when you’re charging it.

There is no evidence that iPhones take this long to index stuff, especially when the device has already been set up!

“Indexing lie.” Ok.

I don’t recall saying that indexing took 3 days. What I DID say was that if the excessive battery drain was still occurring after 2-3 days (day 2 being the day after downloading the update, which admittedly might not be as clear as could be) only then should you consider yourself clear of all the post update processes and be able to get a clear assessment of actual battery performance.

We get people on here who routinely ask how battery life is within 4 hours of an update, while they are likely still in the midst of their day (and I am not referring to the wags who do that immediately after the update as a well worn joke).

Thank you for your rude input though.

I wouldn't say so. I am very happy with my iPhone XS running iOS 14.4. All is superfast, smooth like never before, no lags, no stutter.
Hello, could anyone advise if the iOS 14.4 has incorporated the rumoured option to ask uses for being tracked?

Silky smooth here on my iPad Air 2 and iPhone X (both updated after a reboot via my iMac, I’m paranoid like that 😂). Potentially better battery life, although I wasn’t seeing issues here anyway. Only bug I’m seeing is an occasional delay in text input in WhatsApp. This only happens in WhatsApp, so I’m assuming it’s due to their dodgy coding rather than iOS.

Running 14.4 since it was released as RC. No stuttering or lags on my iPhone 12 Pro Max or iPad Pro 11", no problems with bluetooth devices either (mice, keyboards, AirPods 2). Battery life is great, minimum 10-11 hours for 12PM. (Also, macOS 11.2 RC has been running well for me.)

I totally believe all of you who are saying you're having these issues and you have my complete sympathy. Just sharing so that readers know there are some people who're having a good experience with 14.4

+1
14.4 has been stutter free and very smooth and stable on my 12 Pro. Battery life has greatly improved since the RC was released. For those of you having issues, I’m assuming you’ve already tried restoring your phone and setting up as a new phone (do not restore iCloud or iTunes backup)?

I have to say that the last few years, in my experience, the old adage regarding Apple of “it just works” certainly doesn’t apply anymore. This is across-the-board with my equipment: phone, iPad, watch, Apple TV, HomePod, and don’t get me started on Siri.

Sorry, I’ve gone off track there. Back OT.
Yeah, it's gotten pretty bad. Most of my major issues are with Apple TV (apps constantly logging me out, password autofill from my phone works about 20% of the time, etc.) but seeing the plethora of major issues suffered by folks around here with brand new flagship devices is sad.

Having said what I said above, I +1 these as my experience on my 12 Mini as a standalone device has been good. I have the occasional connection woes between my phone and head unit but for the most part I can use my phone throughout the day and not experience any annoying, much less debilitating, issues.

Hey,
Anyone else having bluetooth issues? Bluetooth calls are pretty much unusable as of today for me. When I use airpods, other side is not hearing me as if i were on mute. When i had 14.3, this happened often, but i was able to bypass the problem by putting the headset into the case and taking it out 5 seconds later. Now, even that workaround does not work.
So i gave up on airpods and used few pairs of bluetooth headsets (one of them being high quality jabra evolve 75) and when i speak to someone, other side says they barely hear me - and they need to be in quiet ambient to understand what am i saying. This is new with 14.4.

14.4 Battery drain on idle worst than 14.3 on my iPhone 12 mini.
From 0.6 to 0.7-0.8 for hour.
2h15min sot with 50%.

Battery

IPP 11 2020 - has been on 14.4 RC - battery is worse than beta 2
12 ProMax - Has been on 14.4 RC - not seeing any real change from beta 2
11 ProMax - went from 14.3 to 14.4 RC - battery has decreased, lost 1+ hours of screen time

One area where I am noticing a big difference on the 12 ProMax is when I do a bunch of camera shots. It seems to chew through a lot of battery.

Upgraded iPad Air 4 and iPhone 8 to 14.4 last night, both from 14.3.whatever. Downloaded both over wifi directly onto the devices. iPhone took a long time to in appearing to download. Other than that, uneventful so far.

I’m noticing massive frame drops in animations all over the OS on my 2020 iPad Pro. It’s like very few minutes scrolling drops to 30FPS no matter what app, notes, news, messages, safari. It’s EXTREMELY jarring

But at least apple improved handoff to homepod mini

For me 14.4 has been much better regarding battery life (not amazing but better than 14.3 definitely).

Iphone 8, SE 2.

This is what I'm also seeing on my 2020 11". What a cluster....

In the Files app on both my iPad and iPhone, search doesn’t work for any of my OneDrive (personal and business) folders. It didn’t work in 14.3 either. Can anyone else please confirm this?
