iOS 14.5 Beta 1 ― Bug Fixes, Changes, and Improvements

Thanks. I wonder if this beta is older code before that change was brought into 14.4b2 (I think that is when it first showed up) or they are reworking this change.
A few of us are confused by your post. What exactly are you having problems with?
My work IT group notified us this morning it is a 14.5 issue. All of my work managed stuff that is MS fails. For me that is MSOffice, Outlook, OneDrive, Teams, Business Skype. Additionally a couple of other work related apps including Hub are also failing on load.
For me this is predominately an MS issue. Exchange into Mail and Calendar are working fine.
One big win for me so far; the app freezing along with the 12 ProMax getting hot has gone away.
Crossing fingers and hoping it stays that way. Will update my IPP 11 today. Hoping for the same for it.

At least none of you who are having problems with the Microsoft apps are using beta software on your daily driver 
Perhaps the problem is only for those who are using enterprise managed MS apps, and not by those who are downloading those MS apps as individuals from App Store without using MDM etc.
Be jealous cause having an Apple Watch allows you to easily pay with Apple Pay by raising your wrist to a terminal scanner, so masks are no issue.I don't have an Apple Watch so was a bit jealous that you'll all be able to unlock the phone while wearing a mask, but I've just read that Apple Pay stuff still needs full FaceID unlock. As that's the main time I'm wearing a mask and needing to unlock the phone (paying at the till), I still need to enter my PIN. Phew. Not quite so jealous
Can‘t remember the last time I actually used Apple Pay on my iPhone, whereas I use Apple Pay on my Watch multiple times a day.
You may not be able to replicate, but it is not untrue. I did it 4 times in a row here.

14.5 beta 1 is the best build yet of iOS 14 on my 12 Pro Max, everything runs butter smooth now.
When I traveled for work pre-covid... I had a different "default" card on my watch and my phone. So for personal purchases I used my phone... for business expenses I used my watch. Made it very quick and easy for me.
- Tap into London Underground for Hotel-Office. (watch) - Corp card
- Buy breakfast (watch) corp card
- Buy a souvenir for the kids (Phone) Personal card
- Tap into london underground to the west end for a show (Phone) personal card
- Buy a heathrow express ticker (watch) corp card
you get the idea. I found it easier than trying to select the card I want to pay with on-watch or on-phone.

What they didn't tell us if the issue was an Apple bork or a change on the Apple side that security has to adapt to.

I get the idea but I don‘t agree. I have 2 cards on my Watch and iPhone and I don‘t break a sweat picking the right one on my Watch.
I tried it many times and doesn't work, on a table it never unlocks so it does have to see a mask

Not sure if it needs to see a "mask" per-se or just a head-shaped blob. Can confirm on table it does not work. But covering any recognizable feature of my face does seem to still unlock. Yesterday I was able to get it to unlock without my face even in frame... maybe that was a bug or a fluke.
Bottom line is I don't think it is looking for just the "upper half" of your face as many have postulated.
iPhone on iOS 14.5. Watch on WatchOS 7.3.
Profiles installed on both devices. Attempt to install watchOS through phone>Your iPhone requires a software update. (No it doesn't.) Attempt to install watchOS through watch>Your watch is up to date (No it's not.) or "There was a problem searching for software updates" (that I believe lol).
No amount of pairing, unpairing, restoring, resetting, etc has fixed this.
For me, MS apps are working fine as well. I am using my personal IP12 Pro Max, but am connected to my work accounts - Using Teams, OneDrive, and Sharepoint apps. Native Mail app also. They were all installed and working before updating to 14.5 (using OTA), and continued to work after the update was applied. Work does not provide the apps from any special source - we simply download them from Apple's App Store.
