iOS 14.5 Beta 2 ― Bug Fixes, Changes, and Improvements

Face ID is definitely ****y for me. I’m getting promoted for my passcode a ton, even if I haven’t picked up the phone for a while. It used to be that it only prompted if I failed Face ID a few times.

I had this happen to me this morning. I rebooted and haven't had the issue happen yet.

Confirmed that rebooting sorted this for me also.
 
My only problem so far is that Mint app crashes few seconds after launch. Everything else for my usage works perfectly.
 
I have an issue with AirPods connecting.. if I take them out of my ears it pauses a video as normal, but when I put them back in it plays the video straight away but takes 8 seconds for the sound to come back on.. this is on my iPad Pro 2020..
 
Music interface is much better, however if you've already added a song to your library it still shows the same menu, which would help to be removed.
Seems equally as stable as Beta one, however CarPlay WhatsApp bug is still present
 
This is the first time I have ever run a beta OS on my phone; first public beta was great (mask + watch); in second public beta the non-mask face ID only works 50% of the time....
 
Maybe it's just my boring face, but my mask-covered FaceID has been fine; lets me in about 70% of the time, same as a few versions ago.

Is anybody else having an issue where your gps is very off? In Maps it will show me miles away from where I really am. Also, when in both maps and compass it doesn’t even know which direction I am going.
 
Upgraded my 12 Pro from 14.4 to this beta this morning and so far FaceID has been fine. Seems to be performing same as before overall.

I have the MagSafe wallet and MagSafe silicone case on my 12Pro, when I attach the wallet I get the animation and hear the MagSafe sound. When the wallet is detached there is no animation or MagSafe sound, just a vibration.

With the MagSafe charger, I receive the MagSafe sound when connected, but no animation. No animation on MagSafe charger in beta 1 either.
 
Fitness+ Now Working on AirPlay 2 compatible Smart TVs/Devices in Beta 2

It is mentioned in a separate thread, but Fitness+ now successfully streams via AirPlay 2 to my TCL Roku Smart TV. Fitness+ streaming via AirPlay 2 did not work for me in Beta 1.

Thank you for this. I unpacked my ATV this afternoon (we have just moved house) and tried it. My iPhone (on this beta) detected the Apple TV and presented me with a 4 digit code to enter on the ATV but the 2 devices don’t sync up completely. I just get presented with another code. Maybe that’s just a beta thing.

To my surprise I can use the iTunes remote app to drive my Apple TV. That’s the app with the white play button on a blue background.
 
Can anyone please confirm if the boot up issue with the really bright Apple logo appearing for a split second then disappearing fixed?

Check your location settings for the app and make sure you have Precise location switched on.
 
I’ve been consistently seeing a bug where all the widgets are missing when swiping left from the home/lock screen to view the widget screen.

Normally swiping back and forth two or three times will make them reappear.
