After trying resets, reinstallations, multiple configurations I found what I think is the solution, deactivate handoff, that simple, doing that yesterday my device still has (after almost 10 hours of disconnecting it from the charger), 60% battery, with medium brightness , 3g and normal use

Interesting. Disabling all of those settings (Siri, all the extra location settings, etc) are the first things I do.

by the way, I have an iphone SE as the main phone, a 6s + as an ipod, a 5gen ipad that yesterday I renewed for an 8th generation, in the three devices that use the A9 chip the previous tip worked, I also disabled handoff on the mac

iOS 14 seems to have calmed down on standby drain. 0% drain on OG SE overnight after swapping out the battery.

This is how I would expect my battery drain to look like during the night since only thing i have connected is my AW. However i see almost a 20% drop overnight with on activity. Defintely something going on. In your case here did you do any special settings?

This BS on iOS 14.2 - 39 minutes of usage, 29% battery used.

Updated to 14.2 last night. Idle battery drain from 01:00 - 9:30 was 12%. Not ideal but a little bit better than 14.1 and hopefully it will improves as it was probably indexing.

I am quite satisfied with the battery usage on my iPhone 12 Pro on iOS 14.2.

I’m not sure about 14.2 It might be better but I know one thing it charges a lot faster. I know there’s equipment limitations but looking at the battery under settings I have never seen it climb that steep.

I lost 21% in an hour with only 31 minutes of screen time on. I was at a kids soccer game where I was taking pictures and videos and since it was sunny the screen auto adjusted to bright.

Edit: While there it didn’t seem too bad with battery loss. While I was there it got hot when I was taking pictures and videos from sitting in the sun. I did my best to cool it off when I wasn’t using it and to shade it. I figured that played a part.

I’m on 14.2 for about a day/day and a half. Despite this it seems like it might be better than the previous versions of 14.

Well I see as predicted Apple has done damn all to fix the battery drain. Its the old "If we leave it long enough people will get fed up complaining and forget about it" trick. I also see a thread about the new iPhone 12 battery life which is a fantastic start for a new phone.

12 Pro user here. My phone used 15% battery last night just sitting unused. We really need an update concentrated on improving battery life.

Had the same in the first two nights (12-15%) when I got my Pro. Since then max 5% over night. Still a lot but not as bad as 15%.

I just saw mine SE2020 5% overnight. This is on 14.2 It used to be 1 to 2 on 14.1 and only 1 on the various 13s.

Is anyone with an iPhone 7 on iOS 14.1 seeing decent battery life? On iOS 13 I would typically get 5-6 hours of screen on time (on WiFi, at pretty low brightness). Now 3 hours would be a good day

Update - I’d been waiting to see if 14.2 improved things for me. It didn’t, so last night I finally went through the whole unpair Apple Watch-backup iPhone to iCloud-erase and reset all content-restore from backup and pair watch. Looks quite promising. Today I’m at 110 minutes screen on so far, and I still have 63% battery left. That suggests over 5 hours should be possible again. This is my iPhone 7 with a 2 year old battery (91% health) on iOS 14.2, without using low power mode. The phone has been pulling down all my music and podcasts etc from iCloud all day too, so I’m optimistic.

Another update: Nah, spoke too soon. It’s still rubbish

I realize I have only had the mini since Friday afternoon but, I have already noticed that iOS 14 doesn’t run through the batter on the mini like it did with the SE 2020. Even setting up the SE 2020 as new etc., its battery was starting to struggle to make it through the day. The mini has been powering right along for this light user.

So you could asume that battery in SE2020 it's controlled by system to don't push through the whole day?

I've been running the 14.3 beta to see if there is any improvement to the iPhone 7's battery life. Spoiler: my iPhone 7 with a brand new Apple-replaced battery chewed through 21% battery with 22 minutes of minimal use and about 18 hours on standby.

It is obvious that Apple optimizes iOS versions for their newest devices while performance on older devices is degraded. Apple gets to have their cake and eat it too - they're able to claim iOS updates support old devices for a long time, but at the same time the performance suffers enough that users give up and buy a new one.

After my SE going to crap after 6 weeks Apple has left a really sour taste in my mouth. Anything in that 7 8 SE form factor got screwed on iOS 14. At least 7/8 users got a few years

Bluetooth could be the cause of battery drain on my 6s plus since upgrading to 14.2 With it turned on, not necessarily connected to anything, it’s causing mass interference to WiFi in the house causing download speeds from my router to tank. I’m guessing that the phone has been struggling with slow speeds and working much harder than it should. I’ve noticed over the past few days that all WiFi devices in the house were struggling for connectivity too.

Toggled off Bluetooth and the WiFi speeds instantly restored to normal and getting much better battery life.

Things are fine for me now when the phone is locked with airplane mode on - 3% drain over 27 hours. However, during use the charge level falls at a faster rate than I would hope for.

Interesting indeed. I thought these were mutually exclusive technologies. Could you, or anyone else, say more about how Bluetooth affects WiFi signal strength please?
