The new IOS Update put my iPhone 7‘s battery life back to normal.
Thank god, had to charge my phone at least 2 times per day after the initial iOS 14 update, but now its back to good.

The biggest thing I have noticed with iOS 14 is it seems to chew through battery a lot quicker than iOS 13. The betas weren’t a problem but my SE 2020 struggles many times to make it through a full day, whereas before iOS 14, I could go 1 - almost 2 days between charges, since I am a light user. I can easily charge when needed and also havre a Smart Battery case so its not really a problem

Which battery case are you using?
Becase the iPhone 7 from Apple it's expensive and I hate that chunk bezel in the bottom of the case.

I am using the iPhone 7 Smart Battery Case. Amazon has the black case on sale for $78. On 9/20 it was $49.

I noticed I had the Bluetooth on. I turned it off that has helped a little. However in 13.7 I was able to leave it on so that is a little different.
That part is no big deal for the most part since I only need it when I use my speaker.

It might help others on the forum if you showed what, under battery in settings, the phone is showing that is using battery the most - is it a particular app or 2 or ??
Thanks

Noticing severe drain on my iPhone SE 2016 with iOS 14.0.1

From 100% @ 5:00AM to 1% @ 12:13PM. Drain doesn't really correspond with usage, just flat slope all the way down. LowBatteryLog only noted I just had the screen on and a particular chat opened for a minute or so right before it turned off.

It could be the Apple Watch 6, but that one is coasting along just fine. No absurd drain.

Disabling background refresh, mail to manual, location services off, airplane mode with wifi on, seems to help a little.

I had the same problem with iPhone SE 2026 andiPhone 7. I disabled everything without results. I solved the problem byfirst logging out from icloud. I then did a reset of network preferences and restarted. After the restart I did a reset of all settings. Problem solved on both phones. I described what I did. Maybe resetting the network settings first was not necessary.

Just some data: On my iPhone X I lose about 3 % of battery life when using Safari + Discord for about 10 minutes. That’s quite bad, isn’t it?

iOS 14 hasnt affected the battery life on my iPhone 7+. I use my phone a lot and do not bother with any of the optimization settings, and according to the battery settings I use 150% battery every day which is pretty much same as before.

I had the same problem for weeks now with my Iphone XS. Yesterday I noticed that HomeKit used 3.9 GB of mobile data in just a few days (mobile data -> system services). I think this was causing my battery drain. I don't know what it was sending all the time. I just have some Apple TVs, Homepods and a few Hue lamps. After I've removed all my homekit devices and added the Apple devices again, the battery drain seems to be back to normal.

About the same. I'm looking forward to mature iOS 14 versions and battery life getting better either way!

After switching everything back on, the problem went away for a while.

My battery drain started again after I opened the Health app on my iPhone. Battery Grapher noted 30.1% 'Lost in the Last Hour'. This points to the Apple Watch 6 as my culprit.

Apple released an article about this:

I erased both my iPhone 11 pro max and watch series 3. Updated both of them to lastest firmware.
Then restored both from iCloud backup. Now both my phone and watch working fine.
For now need to monitor the battery life.

3x SE 2016, battery health between 97 and 100%, two upgraded from iOS 13.x and one restored from a iOS 14 backup. All exhibit similar drain, no Apple Watches involved. Not looking forward to resetting all settings though...

Also for me, iOS 14.0.1 seems to kill the battery of my SE 2016; instead with 14.0 the battery life was normal.

Just wanted to add... a plain reset seemed to "fix" my problem. Guess I got lucky.... dammit Apple...

14.0.1 was really hosing my 6S with 90% battery health. I am not a particularly heavy user, but moved to the beta in hopes of improvement and it seems to be noticeable. Maybe worth it for older devices to maybe try 14.2b2?
