iOS 14 Beta 3 ― Bug Fixes, Changes, and Improvements

Ok the keyboard and text Input Field disappearing doesn’t seem to be an Messages only issue.

Try swiping instead of tapping the „back“ button in the top left corner to go out of a conversation and back to the contact list. Next you go back in any conversation and the keyboard and text Input Field will be gone. Happens on WhatsApp for me too!

Organizing apps in folders is definitely not working right. When you go to put an app in a full “page” in the folder, it no longer moves it to the next page and moves all the other icons one spot... now it just goes to the front? Or to the first open page? Not quite sure but definitely annoying.

Issue with Apple Wallet.

You can't manually add any passes (you can still add bank cards) as the edit passes option does not appear at the bottom of the list.

I only have my bank card and a Nespresso pass in my apple wallet. I went to add some passes for a theme park I'm visiting next week (yes they are supported) and the option to 'edit passes' which should appear at the bottom of the list so you can add them doesn't appear.

Trying the add to apple wallet button from the purchase email gives a 'Safari can't download this file' error.

Worked fine on the last beta but this one seems to have borked it.

Backtap feels more responsive and consistent. Triple tapping to lock the phone for example works great compared to the previous beta as it locks the phone every single time now.

edit: just noticed that the status on the Feedback app has been changed to more than 10 and that a potential fix for a future release has been identified 👍🏼

Does anybody else have problems with resizing apps in split view on iPad? I can‘t resize them neither in portait or landscape mode.

Hi all, long time lurker first time poster....

When iOS13 was in beta last year, Sky Go worked immediately.... I notice the early iOS 14 betas haven’t worked with it so far.

I’m assuming beta 3 is still the same?

I can't download this beta. I deleted the developer profile and then downloaded the DB3 profile. When I attempt to dowload, I get the Download Requested, then after a few seconds it changes to Resume Download. The Resume Download is greyed out. After several more seconds, it switches back to Update Requested and starts the whole cycle over again. Anyone have any ideas as to what is going on? Thanks in advance for any help.

Now that’s interesting, as I didn’t think those phones had tap to wake. They must have figured out another way (accelerometer?) to simulate. Makes you wonder want they can’t implement tap to wake in older phones if they can implement “tap to do something else”.

Is back tap working on even older phones?

I actually still don't see tap to wake (on the screen I mean, like on the X and later) in the settings, so yeah, they figured out something. Or maybe it was just a bug or a mistake, as the iPhone 8+ has a lot of internal similarities with the X.

Anyway I'm glad to see that feature, and it's very nice that it is working even with a case on.

Install the Sky Go Beta on Page 18 of the Broken Apps thread and it'll solve this issue.

Google TestFlight beta for Sky Go. Download the beta & it works fine. The Sky Go beta works great whereas the App Store version does not currently work with iOS 14 betas.

The workaround (opening Weather) doesn’t cause the widget to show up for me. Shame because it was the only widget on my first page Home Screen. Guess I have to wait for beta 4 to get it back

I think the moral of this story (and all the others similar to it) relating to this widget is: be patient and it will arrive!

Could be that. Haptic Touch does pretty much what 3D Touch does in many instances, but not all.

For the cursor movement, you can accomplish pretty much the same thing with Haptic Touch by long pressing on the spacebar and then moving around on the keyboard.

Not as good as “press anywhere” cause ur cursor movements almost always bottom up instead of “up or down”, which happens more often than you might think. I still remember I bought iPhone 6s Plus after iPhone 6 Plus got stolen just for cursor moving feature.

Beta 2 was really sluggish, delayed input all over the place in my 11 pro. A restart would fix it but things would slow down again eventually. I hope beta 3 speeds things up again!

Airpods Pro
IPP 11 PB3 - Would not connect until I had closed the current audio app (Spectrum TV)
ProMax - Would not automatically connect - had to connect manually. After a reboot they are working as expected.

This beta is buttery smooth so far, except for 3D Touch being temporarily disabled haha. That 3D Touch trackpad for selecting text is so handy.

Not as good, just as Haptic Touch is overall not as good as 3D Touch. That said, when you use Haptic Touch to activate cursor control from the spacebar, you can lift your finger from the spacebar and move it up on the keyboard before you start moving the cursor, as long as you do it right after Haptic Touch activates basically.
