After watching the WWDC sessions, I was left with the impression that the widgets shouldn't and don't update very often. It is awkward that they want to have a clock one, which seems to be going against what they talked about in the sessions.
I remember reading that widgets can show dynamic content though in the way they can update the view from their current state. For example: on page / widget load you get a new timeline that says the time is 7:20am, now update that every second to move the 3 clock hands.
Disclaimer: I have yet to dive into the SDK, but I remember someone talking about it. Maybe an actual iOS dev can chime in.
That being said, I totally expect Apple to have way more freedom in terms of widget functionality that 3rd parties anyways. They‘re usually beta testing more in-depth stuff before it hits 3rd parties a year later.
Did anyone mention that there is now a zoom display feature on phones with a 5.8 inch display?
This has been in for ages afaik? Pretty sure my dad always had the zoomed option on on his 7 and then his 5.8“ ones.

Well apparently the Widget clock is totally inaccurate and unusable, oh well, beta 4 maybe fixes it. Funny because the app icon for the clock works perfectly. I know, different

Anyone having issues with AirPods? My AirPods Pro were working perfectly on Beta 1 and 2. After updating to Beta 3, they show "Connected" in Bluetooth settings but I cannot set them as the output for audio in Music or Control Center. I've unpaired and reset them completely, same thing.

Not every phone had the zoom display. It was usually the Max version. I have the 11 pro. And on iOS 13. It didn’t have that option. I think the X and XS was like that also.

Big problems with refreshing widgets. Weather, activity, clock - these widgets definitely have a problem, I haven't tested others.

Someone mentioned that a page or 2 back but my Pros aren't having that issue on my XS. Not sure what kind of phone they had though

Woke up this morning and my weather widget is still showing the weather from 0400 whereas its now 0930. Guess thats a new report on its way over.

They did dodgy stuff with the clock *icon* so I'm sure they can do it with their widget.

Ok the keyboard and text Input Field disappearing doesn’t seem to be an Messages only issue.

Try swiping instead of tapping the „back“ button in the top left corner to go out of a conversation and back to the contact list. Next you go back in any conversation and the keyboard and text Input Field will be gone. Happens on WhatsApp for me too!

Wifi/4G toggle in shortcuts doesn't work for me anymore since beta 3. I always get this error. Am I the only one? Thanks.

I had a weird white patch on the left on any black background with Beta 2. I thought the LCD had a problem. Upgraded a Beta 3. The patch has gone :)

No issues here. Can’t reproduce this. 11pro

It’s back now! Someone in Reddit suggested leaving the app open for a few minutes and that did the trick! :)

A number of things with this particular widget seem to just require the passage of time to correct. Similar fixes (i.e., waiting patiently) have been reported for the black weather widget screen, switching between light and dark mode, the updating process and the location (defaulting to Cupertino). Either they’ve got the intern from Podunk U working on this widget or [more likely] there’s something about the bells and whistles associated with this widget that is not letting it update properly.

I hope you went ahead and reported the issue, as the diagnostics fathered might help the Apple engineers figure it out.

Back tap is now not only available for the 2020 SE as mentioned previously, but also for the iPhone 8 and 8 plus.

Now that’s interesting, as I didn’t think those phones had tap to wake. They must have figured out another way (accelerometer?) to simulate. Makes you wonder want they can’t implement tap to wake in older phones if they can implement “tap to do something else”.

Is back tap working on even older phones?
