iOS 14 ― Bug Fixes, Changes, and Improvements

It's a bug. Apple shouted for ages about how clever they are for soon allowing default apps to be set for mail, browser etc. and then released it with a bug. It resets back to Apple stock apps (oh what a coincidence) each time you reboot.

I'll edit this post if the problem is fixed with 14.2 (installing the beta now).

EDIT: Not fixed in 14.2 b1

Only time I start fresh is never. The thing is, it works. Really glad that I never have to set any setting that I've already set, again.

It's bug... why jump straight to the mocking conspiracy theories?

I miss the days of iOS8 (Random example) and when there wasn’t 9 million settings and features for each thing. It’s becoming almost as bad as bloated Windows 10. I know they will never step back but damn the os is now 7-8 gigs for a phone.

The solution is rather simple. Although there are many reasons for error 4000, including a bad cable - in this case there is a problem with updating via Windows 10's current version of iTunes and it is related to having a pass code and lock screen. Temporarily disable 1) your device pass code 2) screen autolock and try again. This solved my problem on 3 separate iOS devices. Once updated via Win10 iTunes, I simply turned my device pass codes and autolock back on.
 
I am not sure if I am doing something wrong....but when I am listening to music the music will stop when I get a notification ding. It never did this before. Right now I just got a text message and it stopped my music for the text ding. I got a notification from ESPN and it stopped my music to show me the notification and the ding from that notification. Usually my music would still play while I got the notification in the background.

Is there a setting that I am unaware of? I never had this problem before iOS14

Apple really dropped the ball on this iOS14. I've been on Apple since 2013 and I have never experienced this many bugs before. My widgets don't even work, and will only work when I reboot the phone which I have done several times since yesterday.
 
Quick question on Wiggle Mode.
Both my 11PM and IPP11 when I place my finger in a blank spot go into wiggle mode after about a second.
11PM just over a second.
IPP11 well under a second.

Is going into WM this fast normal?
On GM I am finding my IPP goes into WM sometimes when I pick it up.
 
Another Mail bug.

I go into my Mail app and the count of the unread is greater than the count of the total unread. Even after manually refreshing it still shows the problem.
Killing the Mail app and a reboot fixes the issue ... for now.
Pics are when found and a minute later after manual refresh.

And others would like even more settings for things that don't have them now. The good thing about those is that they don't really need to be used if someone doesn't care about them, while those that might have the option to do so.

Lately a lot of companies conveniently claim bugs for intentional things, like LinkedIn, Tiktok, Instagram abusing the clipboard, camera, mic etc. And 10+ years of Apple's closed ecosystem not allowing changing defaults, it might have been intentional or neglect, but I wouldn't judge being skeptical for some of these 'bugs'.
 
Is there a way to fix the intermittent "black widget" problem? I added the big News widget to Today view and it showed up black/blank.
 
IPP11 2020 14 GM
I am getting intermittent video freezing in both apps and pip. The picture will freeze and may resume after a few seconds.

Spectrum TV - both in app and pip
Youtube - app
Netflix - app
PrimeVideo - app

Checking others. Not seeing it in Safari atm...

Doesn't really seem like it. Certainly some bugs here and there and random issues that random people have. Nothing unusual really for a typical x.0 release and better than a variety of those type of releases with more issues affecting more.
