The native Apple Mail App when I open it randomly since updating to IOS 14 does show on the bottom of the screen that it synced or the last time it fetched mail like it used to

Hello,
I don't see that anyone mentioned it, but I have very painful bug. When I updated my iPhone XR to iOS 14 I stopped hearing caller on normal mode. When I will turn on speaker or connect headphones then all is fine.

I created even thread on Apple Forums, but no one replied: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/251803282

Maybe someone have same problem as I do?

Has nobody else noticed this with tapping a folder? I noticed it immediately. The way I usually tap the screen, the folder icon dims but it doesn't open. But it works if I do a really quick tap. Imagine if the screen was red hot and you were trying not to burn your thumb. That's how I have to tap folders to get them to open. Apps themselves are unaffected.

EDIT: I have an iPhone 8 and it's the same on my iPhone 7 provided by work. Really frustrating!
Perhaps I just normally tap faster, but didn't notice anything until reading about it and playing around to reproduce it.

I noticed that iMessage compresses videos now! Very annoying. In the past, iMessage has always allowed you to send 100% full original quality videos to another iPhone user. Now with iOS 14, no matter if you’re on WiFi or data, it will compress the video by cutting the frame rate in half and lowering the resolution. I sent a 60fps video and it cut it to 30fps and dropped the resolution. I’ve tried everything and it happens every single time. I spent 2 hours on the phone with Apple, proving it to them. They finally agreed to send it to their software engineers.
This has always been a key advantage iOS has had over android, since android uses MMS that heavily compresses video. There is no reason iOS to iOS should be doing this.

(While Airdrop is a valid option for sending full quality media, it doesn’t mean they should strip the feature away from iMessage. We’re not always in the same room as the recipient. Especially during a pandemic.)

nice man. My XR is on 91%, 2 years old, moderate use with no loco screen notifications on, gets me 50% batt still at the end of the day. last me two days easy. Did you get yours on the day of release? Your health is amazing for an XR.
Ended up with a replacement October of last year.

Hai, i can‘t interact with siri while using apps at the same time. siri always closed when i touched the screen. Do you guys experience the same thing ? Any ide how to used siri with apps at the same time ?

I suppose it depends how quickly you normally tap the screen. But I can't be the only person in the world tapping it they way I do :)

I tried a hard reset, but my work phone being the same pretty much confirms to me that they've done something to it. The last thing I could do is a settings reset.

For now, I've had to delete all my folders and use App Library, which is annoying because App Library is like a less functional version of having a well organised set of folders because they are named differently and the recent suggested apps will change positions over time. For someone with a lot of apps I'm sure it's a different story because of the search and the suggestions.

This is literally the first thing I will check after every future point update :D

Hopefully this isn't a permanent change!

I have the same issue. Widgets are unusable due to ever changing sizes. Also some icons and folders are changing sizes as well. Rebooting only fixes temporarily. Deleted and re-added all widgets and still no change. I’ve been running the public beta and didn’t notice notice the problem until just the last beta before GM. Ugh
Same problem on my iPad Mini 5 and iPad Pro 12.9 (3rd gen) but not my iPhone 11 Pro. The problem continued with iPad OS 14.2. I attached pic and filed a bug report.

Any way to turn off the 3D touch click sound (iphone XS max) everytime I 3d touch something it makes a "click" but that click goes away whwn you flip the silent switch.

I want the audible click to be gone even when I'm not in silent mode. This is new, it used to not be like this and is super annoying
This is relatively new, it used to not be like this, and I love it.

No, like Siri of old, you cannot.

Sounds like iOS 14 is a train wreck.
Quite the opposite for me.

iOS 13 was a train wreck for me, and iOS 14b1 fixed most of my issues. Since beta 1 there’s been a handful of odd bugs, to be expected during the beta process. And even on a main point release like this. Most people that install the betas don’t file feedback. And some that do don’t always include valuable info. So it takes to the masses after release in order to get feedback. I myself am still seeing over 53.5GB of “Other” in iPhone Storage, even after restoring my iPhone 11PM (filed as FB8715268). Am I worried about this, or even any of the other bugs happening right now? Nope! Because IMO the current state of iOS is still better than the latest version of iOS 13.whatever. To the people complaining about there being nothing new other than Widgets or the App Library, also a big nope. There’s so much that’s been optimized under the hood clearing the way for more and more good things.

Hopefully this is an anomaly. I made the move from android years back to iOS because that was a deal breaker for me that I needed a work around to do what I could Do easily on iMessage. I haven’t made the move to 14 yet, still on 13.7. Can anyone else confirm this?

Minor bug in Mail...it says "Network Offline" right at the bottom but still sends and receives just fine.

Yep. They also compress gifs into HEIC format so the person on the receiving end can’t save them as animated; they save as static HEIC pics.

Someone mentioned in another thread that the bug may be caused by changing wallpapers. I tried this on my iPad Mini 5 and sure enough a few of the icons became very small when I changed the wallpaper. A restart corrected the problem.

Whoa. Very freaky event just now. I went into settings About and accidentally tapped the carrier version area and my iPad froze then a all grey screen, then it was in a code screen that said “Apple MXED2llA 2020 Test Login Authorization Denied.” then it turned off. Took 2 mins to reboot.

WT$?

I think the thread title should've retained 'GM' in it but oh well

SE2020 users - how is 14.0 GM performing for you so far? Stability, performance, and battery specific.
Runs great on my 2020SE. I keep my phones pretty lean tho app wise as compared to most. The apps I do use work fine, no bugs. Overall is very smooth and battery is at least same as 13.xxx.xx and maybe a bit better actually. I have no complaints. I’m on latest beta 14.2.

Spotlight has to reindex the phone, it will take a while. Leave it plugged in.

It's been plugged in more than 24 hours and nothing. Spotlight can't find anything on my iPhone. It only gives me suggestions to search the web, App Store, movies, etc. It can't find anything in Messages, Notes, Reminders, etc.

Apparently you found some secret developer cheat code or something. 🤣

On my iPad Pro (3rd gen) the issue is caused not only by changing wallpapers but also frequently by unlocking the device or simply swiping up to get to the homescreen.

Something I really like, if you have 2 different Siri Suggestions widgets on the homescreen, it has 8 unique apps in each widgets with no repeats. Very cool.

And it very nicely anticipates what you might need. That’s the secret sauce to not needing any apps on the Home Screen. I store all mine in the App Library and almost never need to go there.

Before, I had my favorite apps on one page and a widget for Siri suggestions on another page. Then I realized that if they’re on different pages, there’s duplicates, so it was wasted space. However, if you put your most used apps and the Siri suggestions app on the same page, there are no repeats. Plus I now have room for an extra widget.
