iOS 14 Delay when Typing

Hey,

searched the forums and saw that keyboard lag was an issue for many in the betas of iOS 14. I just updated to iOS 14 on Wednesday and the lag when typing is very annoying. Reminds me of using my 3GS when it was given its final iOS upgrade.

how could they release with this huge bug? It’s infuriatingly annoying.

Anyone else having bad lag?
 
I noticed it not being as smooth as before. I tried reseting the keyboard dictionaries with no effect. It is the only thing im annoyed with as everything else is fast enough. The next ios updates can't come soon enough.
 
Update: I did a force restart and now the keyboard feels a bit faster. I recommend doing this until it is ironed out by software updates.

Im also getting the occasional keyboard stutter on iOS 14.0 on my iPhone 11 Pro Max. Going to try the keyboard reset. Has anyone fixed it with with or a fresh restore?

Doing a force reset helps but it is not quite there in terms of responsiveness like in ios 13, that was a pleasure to type on...

on my ipp there is a minor delay when switching iMessage threads with keyboard open , with keyboard closed , threads switch instantly. Seems laggy with switching when keyboard open

Probably because they obviously rushed 14.0 out for the watches. I would expect to see this resolved with 14.2 (or 14.1 if we get it on all devices and that it's not just for the new phones). This year has been a weird year for things.
 
my iphone 7 has a 2 second lag in the typing sometimes when opening imessage, with ios 14.0
 
I don’t understand. Does Apple not use their own software? How was this not near the top of the priority list and how is it still unfixed?

Not everyone is experiencing it. Plus ifnot many report the issue to Apple, they won’t be aware of how many are impacted. Level of impact factors into the priority. It will be fixed soon, no doubt about that. People need to feed back to Apple.
 
In iOS 14, there’s now a lag on my iPhone X when typing in iMessage. Didn’t ever happen in 13.7. Anyone else experience this?
 
That's funny. The same thing hapoens sometimes on an iPhone 6+ running iOS 9.

Give it some time. The keyboard lag occurs when something in the background is doing work. iOS 14 is still brand new. I'm sure your input lag problem will go away in due time

This is incredibly annoying.

I open messages, start typing and there is often a 2-3 second delay before the keyboard will respond.

iPhone 12 pro max, iOS 14.0
 
I didn't notice the issue last night after updating to 14.0.1 but then I didn't use it much.

Anyone else? Is it fixed?
