I kind of like MagSafe Batterys. They attach strong enough to become part of the phone like the smart battery case but then are easy to remove when charged.I miss the smart battery case experience, maybe there'll never be a new case for the newer models thanks to MagSafe.
I don't think that's actually correct.. You would need a backup from 14.6. You can't do the update trick from 14.7 to 14.6. I went from 14.5.1 to 14.5 but you can't drop a whole .x version with the update trick. You can *update* back to 14.6 using iTunes + the ipsw file without any hassle.
Actually, you don't.I don't think that's actually correct.. You would need a backup from 14.6. You can't do the update trick from 14.7 to 14.6. I went from 14.5.1 to 14.5 but you can't drop a whole .x version with the update trick.
Hmmm.. so in theory could I *update* back to 14.5.1 from 14.6 even though I have no backup from 14.5.1?Actually, you don't.
I have tried it myself and it worked perfectly, and I *updated* back to 14.5.1 instead of 14.6 (ipsw wasn't available when I tried it) and all apps, files, settings were preserved just like a regular update. (From 14.7 b1)
I just did it and all of my messages are gone... now I'm restoring back to 14.6 again. I wonder if I turned on messages in the cloud and tried again if they would come back? I don't know if I want to go through with it again!!Actually, you don't.

I am sorry to hear that, yes I have turned my icloud backup on but usually that's not the case for me.(Truthful)I just did it and all of my messages are gone... now I'm restoring back to 14.6 again. As for the watch, mine (4th gen) is on 7.6 beta 1 and it's working with 14.6 perfectly.Hmmm.. so in theory could I *update* back to 14.5.1 from 14.6 even though I have no backup from 14.5.1?
I really want to since my smart battery case stopped working correctly on 14.6 but I don’t want to risk losing all my data! Oh and my watch is on 7.5 will that make any difference?
I think I'm going to give it another go with messages in the cloud turned on. They should come back then I would think!I am sorry to hear that, yes I have turned my icloud backup on but usually that's not the case for me.(Truthful)
It is correct. With a computer you drop back a point release.I don't think that's actually correct.. You would need a backup from 14.6. You can't do the update trick from 14.7 to 14.6. I went from 14.5.1 to 14.5 but you can't drop a whole .x version with the update trick.
It's Sunday today imao.A beta today and another on 7th, or tomorrow and 8th, leaving room for iOS 15 beta on 7th?
It's Sunday today imao.
Yes it worked fine. The only problem I ran into was it deleted all of my messages and attachments but… I think I’m going to roll with it because it was more annoying having the problem with my smart battery case! Plus it’s kind of nice to clean out a few gigs of messages. I mean how often do I really go back and read all the old messages? It is correct. With a computer you drop back a point release.

To m knowledge there has NEVER been a beta on a Sunday!
And if you are in the antipodes (as I think), tomorrow in the States is Memorial Day, so no beta tomorrow either.
Well, you expect them to be working today? So nothing today.
What you are doing is essentially downgrading, which is pandoras box and can range from „no biggie, everything went smooth“ to „**** my **** up“ tier depending on what underlying changes they introduced with a release.Actually, you don't.

Exactly this. I’ve done it many times over the years and have been successful all but one time, which is when I lost about two years worth of health/watch data including all of the special event badges, monthly challenges, 100, 365 and 500 badges, etc. What you are doing is essentially downgrading, which is pandoras box and can range from „no biggie, everything went smooth“ to „**** my **** up“ tier depending on what underlying changes they introduced with a release.
Downgrading is especially bad when you go from major (e.g. iOS 15 Beta) to major (e.g. iOS 14.6), but sometimes even minor release downgrades can be a pain in the ass.
put the device into DFU mode and restore (use restore, not update - restore wipes the device and reinstalls the latest release of the OS) via your Mac or via windows and iTunes.I’ve got to wipe my old iPad 11” to give it to my daughter. It currently has beta 14.7 on it.
What’s the best way to wipe it and revert it to latest production version IOS to give her ?
