I think Monday

If not today, then tomorrow. Simply cos as others have said, like @B/D , the Magsafe Battery pack needs iOS 14.7, and people will be getting the accessory Monday.

I’ve changed my tune from saying it was gonna be Monday/Tuesday indeed! Lol

Apple website (U.S.) says delivery July 27-29. Where are you seeing delivery on Monday (or is that availability in stores)?

As per the front page article, it‘s out on the 19th July:

I think its going to be Monday. Didn't release it today and tomorrow seems unlikely release right before a weekend.

You’d think that Apple would let people have the MagSafe Battery pack at 8am in the UK and wait 10 hours until 6pm (the earliest that iOS releases come out in the day for the UK - which is where I am, so using what I know) for the iOS update that enables it to work?

You really think Monday? Imagine all the people complaining to Apple that their new MagSafe Battery Pack won’t work all day Monday…….
I suppose anything is possible, but it seems that rarely, if ever, does Apple release on Friday. We're talking about iOS, iPadOS, macOS, watchOS, and tvOS with pending releases. That seems like a lot to release on a Friday when you have the weekend coming up.

Could be any time in the next 5 hours or so…..

Apple statement is clear-

You need IOS 14.7 to use the battery pack.

However, I didn´t know that Apple could release a software update after 19:00PM (UK/Spain time). I thought they had a fixed time for that. Very interesting.

So Apple could still be releasing it today?.

But Apple, in the last few years, tend to release almost all the software updates the same day. What difference an upcoming weekend does it make?

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say iOS 14.7 tomorrow (Friday) at 12:05 PM CST 🙃

Having worked in the software industry for years, you typically don’t release on the day before a weekend or a holiday in the event of issues with the release.

You want to have your release team available in the event there are issues.

iOS 14.7 is not that big of a release. Also, they only need to release iOS 14.7 really, the rest can follow next week. they’ve done segregated releases before. And they’ve done Friday releases before.

I’m sure we’ve had an iOS point release at about 23:00 UK time before. It’s not always fixed. Based on your valid point about the Battery Pack, I would be surprised if we don’t have it before close of play tomorrow.

Thank you very much, that makes perfect sense!

Remember that the RC was already released 3 days ago so technically if there are no show stoppers being reported they could still release today (1:00 PDT) without much reserve. Have seen Friday releases in the past so not unheard of.

What is the time limit for a release on any particular day?

Public beta's have been released so maybe they are on a release roll today. I'm still leaning towards Monday but hopeful for today for 14.7.

@Ansath, what do you think now?
There’s still a couple more hours yet. I know we’ve had a release come at around 23:00 UK time before and it’s only 20:10.

Otherwise my original thought of next week was right all along after you used logic on me😂
