I hate the storage bug SO DAMN MUCH!!
System shouldn't be consuming so much space... I can't even download new apps 'cause I have 20GB on "System"... Did anyone find a way to fix it?

I hate it too, mine is at 20gb now and it keeps steadily climbing. Luckily I still have around 100gb of empty space.

I was thinking of uninstalling useless apps, but not sure if that would help in a long term at all.

Mine is 20GB as well, but I have only 5 GB left...
I tried doing that, but it didn't make a difference.

Mine has been running between 4 and 21 depending on what I’m doing, so 20 doesn’t seem out of line. What model phone/size do you have.

The only way I was able to resolve the System Data size was to do a encrypted backup to my computer, do a Recovery Mode Restore followed by a restore from backup.

Let’s see if that IPSW clears anything up for you. ??

Going to do that for sure. My Mail link to App issue is back along with the other new crap.
What is really nuts is the app is open in app manager - was just in it.

Ok, it worked haha
I would never thought of doing a backup on my Mac… I always tried doing this process using the iCloud back up. Now the system storage it’s only 2GB! Let’s see if it won’t return to more than 10GB.
Thanks!!!
Don’t know if you‘ve been using a beta, even if not the diagnostic files on the general releases can mount up and take up a lot of storage. These days I almost exclusively use my laptop to backup and sync my ios devices to offload those files from the device to the computer. On a beta when using feedback assistant the sysdiagnose and other files can take up a massive amount of space. That‘s why I typically sync my beta device as soon as possible after using FBA to recover that space. If I forget and leave it for a while the syncing process can take a long time to complete. Currently my iPad Pro which was on the 15.4 betas is showing 2.9 mb system data but that will vary each time I check. I removed the configuration profile to be able to pick up 15.4.1 and have left it off for the time being. I’ve not read anything compelling about 15.5 so I just may leave things as they are.

Maybe it’s a brand new iPhone unregistered?
No, this will vary each time you check. On my iPad Pro the first time I checked this afternoon it was also zero. Then a little later 49kb. And the third time 2.9mb. The system constantly changes to reflect what the device is doing. It’s really meaningless to keep going back to that. I’ve only ever checked when these threads pop up.

When I tell Siri to set an alarm the sound is off be default.

Anyone else ?

Tips ?
Tell Siri to set an alarm with the sound on ??‍♂️
Been playing with this beta on my 13 ProMax today and Looking to see what worked, what didn’t, and did I have any whacky changes.

From 15.4 - issues that were.
1. My issue with Teams killing my current call on AirPods Pro is fixed. It is now treated just like any other call.
2. Link in Mail that opens in Safari instead of App. Now working fine.
3. Safari tab opening in something other than current Light/Dark setting. So far so good …

New issues for 15.5 b1
1. Killed my password on App Store ID. Had to reset the password I use for the Apple ID applied to App Store.
Note: I have one Apple ID for the device. Another Apple ID for the App Store. This is a work phone and has a work secondary App Store.
2. I use 5G and WiFi 6e. Having issues with data just stopping. Can occur mid app use (see pic below)
3. In Kindle, books in a series are grouped. This still works but new purchases are not added - they are listed separate. Works fine on Android.
4. I use a 24hr clock. Asked Siri to set the alarm for 4 o’clock. Both 0400 and 1600 were set.
5. Settings - for Calendar and Messages, my Temporary Banner was changed to Persistent.

So far is working okay. The data issue is a pita. Working fine for all other devices. Have killed the Wi-Fi on device and redid. Not sure what I can do about 5G.

Will play with IPP11 tomorrow.

This was an OTA install. May do ipsw on Sunday.

Yes, spellcheck still really sucks.

I also use 24h clock and just tried. Just set for 0400.

Played around with this a bit more.

What I found:

1. If I ask for 4 o’clock, it brings up 0400 alarm but when I look in Alarms, both are set (0400 and 1600)
2. If I ask for 04 hundred or 4 AM it brings up 0400 only and says 4 o’clock
3. If I ask for 4 PM or 16 hundred it brings up 1600 only and says 16 hundred
4. If I create a new alarm and turn off the alarm switch then save, it automatically turns the alarm on
5. I removed all alarms, did a hard reboot, created a new 0400 and new 1600. Then I asked Siri to set an alarm for 4 o’clock. Only the 0400 was set. Redid numbers 2-4 and there was no change in behavior.

Will retest all of this once I ipsw tomorrow morning.

Odd cuz I do different combos too. I’m set to region US and 24h clock. Are you set to a different country? Maybe that’s why. Set to US and see if it works correctly first
Before you ispw.

It seems that the correct behavior would be to create 2 alarms. If you ask for an alarm to be set to 4 o’clock how would Siri know whether you were asking for 4am or 4pm using 24 hr time?

Have I got these steps right:

• Encrypt back up to mac
• Recovery mode, restore - do you go as far as choosing a back up etc, or it’s just upto the restore so phones as new…

• And then, do a restore from backup

?

You put your phone in Recovery Mode, from Finder select Restore. Finder will download the latest version of iOS, erase the entire contents of the phone and install iOS on the phone. When you go to setup the phone, select restore from backup on the computer. Select the encrypted backup from Finder. Make sure leave your phone connected via wire connection until after you restore from backup. And you want to do an encrypted backup which will backup everything.

Yep thought so, just wasnt sure how you’d worded it. Thought you were adding a restore, like a double wipe.

A Full back up to your computer is the same as an Encrypted back up, isn’t it?they both back up everything. Just checking.

Will give this a crack with the official 15.5 see if it makes a difference from just doing an Alt + Restore. Wonder if the recovery mode first has any difference. ??

Hope you’re kidding. Why would anyone shop something like that?
I have the same story on 15.4.1 - had like 42 GB of other data. Found that I did some cleaning up last days and had a lot of videos and long screen recordings from iPad on iPhone.

After I removed the items on iPhone from trash (place where removed files are waiting 30 days to be removed) I had 48kb of other and now it’s about 12,5GB .
