It is a combination of both hardware and software. The software APIs drive the variable refresh rate. I think Apple wanted to have the best battery life possible with the iPhone 13 Pro/Pro Max and probably determined that 10 Hz was good enough for the best possible battery life using the A15.

I just realized the iOS version matches the version naming of the A series processors. Not sue why it did not dawn on me earlier.

Yes. And the software already exists. They may not have it tuned to the very lowest refresh-rate yet but they could. It’s the hardware that’s been lacking.

As to your second point re the iOS/processor name, the numbers matching is perhaps intentional but has not always been in sync (e.g., the A6 was used in the iPhone 5). But perhaps the use of the S-variant phone names was the way to sync the names to eventually.

Move your apps around as you want them by using clear stacks, and hide smart stacks. Might just bring some life back into your homepages before iOS 16 arrives.

Have fun guys. Works on iOS 15.5

Really happy with this 15.5 beta 1 update, seems to have finally fixed my data dropping issues. So far anyway all is running perfectly and no data drops since installing. I’m thinking the modem update that came along with the rest of the update did the trick. Nice to have a reliable device back again.

Good to hear it may well be fixed for you.
I installed via OTA the other evening (sorry Pearsey), and immediately experienced a slowdown of cellular data (5Guc Tmo USA). Did several speed tests with the Ookla App and each one halved (both up and down) the speed I had seen earlier when on 15.4.1 release. So I waited a while, then "updated", again to 15.5 b1, via Files/IPSW (yea Pearsey) but same result. Then I "updated" to 15.4.1 release via Files/IPSW (yea again, Pearsey) and ran speed test several times. 5Guc speed was restored, both up and down.
Not sure I want to try 15.5 b1 because of this.....
Anyone else seeing slower speeds on mid-band 5G?

Does it reset the whole safari app. It doesn't delete anything right? Like cache or history.?

I dont think it will delete history, not 100% sure though because I only use Private Browsing mode. Cache reset Im not sure either.

I think Apple should add somekind of clarification text underneath that button explaining what is triggered once this button is clicked.

My weather does not load upon launch. I have to go to the list first and afterwards it loads instantly

Seems like it’s specific just to the Experimental Settings—I pressed it twice and nothing under my main Safari settings changed (and no data seems to have been cleared).

But yeah, agreed: it seems rather un-Apple-like to neglect adding clarification.

Just coming back to reiterate that 15.5 continues to be but a dream here in 13 mini/iPad 9 land—those still on 15.4(.1) are missing out in my honest opinion.

The next week and a half, or until beta 2 makes its debut, is looking to be smooth sailing.

I personally just don’t understand not sating one’s beta appetite before WWDC, especially since by this point in iOS 15’s lifecycle it’s a pretty safe bet that the betas are going to bring both the latest and the greatest experience.
