Went on a pretty lengthy walk whilst chatting on the phone with a friend; the call dropped several times which I can’t recall happening in the same area/under similarly favorable conditions. Maybe we do need those modem firmware updates after all…. :(

(With iPhone 13 mini, nearly fully charged)

I did notice that battery seemed to drop less than usual over the couple of hours I was out, so that’s a positive, at least.

If you're encountering error 4000 on iTunes when updating...

This is due to a bug with iTunes handling the passcode on iPhone.

Go into recovery mode and UPDATE your device from there. This information is lacking online, and I just tested it myself. Hope this helps someone.

UPDATE: This starts the 'attempting data recovery' process so it's clear this is buggy. I put in my passcode and it successfully recovered my data with no modifications. But, I would hold off for a bit.

When posting your feedback you guys should also mention the phone you’re using, I think it would be much more informative

You don’t need to keep pressing the side button to start your iPhone. It might take a few seconds for the Apple logo to appear but you can let go after clicking once.
And your reasoning for an update being something deliberately broken doesn’t make sense at all. More work requires more money and you’re not being charged extra for any updates. I don’t think you comprehend how complex OS’ are these days and how software development works. Chances are anytime you’re adding to the code you might introduce a bug somewhere else as there are features like Siri that run on multiple layers and not as a standalone program. Your frustration is reasonable but your expectations aren’t inline with reality.

EDIT: Weirdly enough I’ve had more problems with IPSW updates than OTAs during the 15.4 beta cycle. More overnight battery drain for one. So I’m sticking to OTAs for now.
Believe me I fully understand how complex an operating system is. What I do not understand is that it is defended that they worsen the operation of my phone with worse coverage reception with this argument and with that of money, when apple has money and plenty to do a much better job in its software than it is doing in the We have been years, where it seems that they have forgotten to do things right, especially with their devices this year. I will only say that with the argument of money the bugs of xiaomi were defended and it has only served to get worse, let's not make the same mistake with apple, besides doing it with apple is even insulting. And it's not that the apple logo appears later, because this was the first thing I thought, it's that if I don't press it for at least 5 seconds, it doesn't even start, that's why I commented on it. But as I said in the previous message, what interests me is that they fix the issue of the modem, because turning the mobile on and off is done once a week, but the worst coverage can translate into battery drain problems by not being able to have stable coverage. That before in the center of my town, with the antenna at 800m I had full coverage, with 15.5 I have two or three lines. And I've reset the network, reinstalled the update in case it was installed wrong and this persists, I don't think I have to be grateful to apple for this.

Call dropping this is new to the RC. Twice now after about 10 mins, call drops. Haven’t had anything like this on the iOS 15 beta train. And wasn’t present on 15.5 b4.

Network reset was done in update.

Way to go Apple. Real slick RC. RC2 please! IP12.

EDIT: this is really annoying. Things are suppose to get better not worse with a final build about to be released. 15.4 B4 was working amazing for me on my 12. Now this.

Do they do it so you need to get the next build? 15.6 grrr.

(That’s a rhetorical question, I know the answer to, just feels like it sometimes. It’s ? in the ring with ? today, not happy)

Same. And I don’t have the feed back app to post the incorrect/unexpected behaviour. ??

You can always open the feedback app with “applefeedback://“ in Safari.

As a public service to all of you, I have created a shortcut to open the feedback link without needing to type this pain-in-the-neck URL every time. Just click the link below, verify the shortcut (you should always do that!) and then install it.

You may send cash or lavish gifts my way. No bitcoin, though!

My system data is at 18,26 GB. It was also that huge before the update. I’ve updated from 15.4 to 15.5 RC

If you let me ask you, did this drops on the calls happen on iOS 15.4, or 15.4.1? Or are just happening on iOS 15.5 beta?

I have a 13 mini and I plan to stay on 15.4.1

I've been having similar issues, with both my cellular connections on my 13PM randomly dropping in the middle of using data, or the calls dropping randomly.

It's happened more on 15.5 for me so far, but I plan on doing a clean install over the weekend.

Potentially wouldn’t bother with a clean install of 15.5. The RC version, which will be the final release, if they don’t put out a RC2, has got call drop issues.

Not sure a clean install will fix something so apparently broken for a few of us so far specific only to this build.

I’d see how next week plays out if we don’t see a RC2 build what you’ll have to clean install with if you still want to ??

I was half expecting to be Rick Rolled here

What carrier do you use? It may be carrier specific as so far I have not had any dropped calls on Verizon

Been using wifi calling and have seen no issue.
Will be out and about later today and I'll see if I notice anything.

Crossing fingers on this Friday the 13th ?
