Wow...

I knew that Safari was absolutely murdering my battery, but I stayed off of MacRumors for a day and my battery life was so much better. I still used Safari a ton, but I feel like MacRumors specifically may have something to do with the drain. Would that even make sense?

At least one or 2 others here reported this as well

It is 100% macrumors causing the battery drain, stayed off macrumors yesterday on my iPhone and iPad, my iPhone 12 Pro Max battery was back to iOS 14.4 usage, it’s been macrumors all along.

Had 5h30m usage with 50% battery at the end of the day yesterday, day before yesterday while on here most of the day I had to charge my phone twice throughout the day.

This morning wasn’t great either on my Mac 🤦‍♂️

They better fix this soon, or it might be bye bye macrumors 🥺🥺🥺

One of the mods yesterday told me the site owner is looking into it most likely these stupid ads and video ads destroying everyone battery.

Just lost 5% writing this post on my iPad 🤬🤬🤬🤬😡😡😡😡😡 stuff this I’m out of here.

Here is yesterday when not using this site 😍 Please fix this ASAP 🥺🤦‍♂️

Yeah, my iPhone 12 mini just got 7.5 hours of regular use (Messages, Mail, Spotify, Safari, Twitter, Instagram, Weather, App Store, YouTube, etc) and is currently sitting at 50% battery.

When I was checking MacRumors throughout the day earlier this week, it would take about 3 -4 hours of the same level of use to get my phone down to 20%.

Yikes.

Not sure if this is new but now you get a reminder to charge your watch before sleep, presumably for sleep tracking. And estimates the % needed to make it though the night.

No macrumors on my iPhone again today and again amazing battery life.

90% battery life left, 1h47m usage, same great battery life I was getting previously, it’s been macrumors all along, sorry apple.

Was getting 7h usage on my iPad with 20% battery left while on here.

Haven’t jumped on here only for a few minutes yesterday and today, iPad 5h usage and 50% battery remaining. 😍

Think it’s time macrumors rebuilt the whole forum and make it more efficient.

For folks asking about refreshing a Safari page without scrolling to the top, the menu/search window has a three-dot button; tap it, and it offers "Reload."

Yes but someone suggested what sounded like they are able to reload from anywhere on screen. I asked but they haven’t responded yet.

I have it off. and off. and off.

Did run into another issue along the same line.
I am running into apps that sometimes load real slow or don't want to open (stuck on opening screen).
I have found if I kill the app and clear out most or all of task manager, the app will load and run normally.
I hope we are not seeing another RAM management issue....
Stupid question 1: is it really off? It keeps turning on on my test device
Stupid question 2: did you do the famous „first restart“ of your device after installation? In my experience, rebooting at least once after the OS settled in fixes most quirks I experience (I also had very slow app starts or apps crashing until I restarted, some apps still crash though).

Those? Those buttons end up disabling the bar at the top, and I need it to use bolds, italics, insert images etcetera.
Yes.
The text editor uses BB code in that mode. You can do almost every format option that way:

Code:
[b]bold[/b]
[i]italic[/i]
[u]underline[/u]
[url=https://www.macrumkrs.com]macrumors[/url]

bold
italic
underline
macrumors

And many more.

With all this macrumors site/forum battery drainage, now I know how these Samsung galaxy owners feel 🥺🔋🤦‍♂

Help a brother out. I cannot find this setting.
As long as you have set dolby atmos on for music (might not work on Automatic, so I set mine to always on) you should be sweet. If you want to play spatialised stereo, play some stereo content and turn it on by long pressing the volume indicator in Control Panel

SAFARI is rapid!

Im not running into any of the iCloud+ problems, because I dont use it, as a web designer though, my sites are loading even faster. Getting the url away from the top makes for better content browsing defo. That a UI plus, and then its intuitively there by your thumb. LOVE. Nice move Apple. Wasn't that impressed at WWDC, as some of you might of heard me bleating on, but safari, New maps detail and redesign settings, has me won over, for now.

⭐️⭐️⭐️ of 5 from London.

Over and out 🎙

We're dropping like flies over in the iOS 14 threads 🥺😂

Can you actually see the difference with more content on the screen now that the address bar has been moved to the bottom? 🕺👀📱

its about shifting the focus. your eye doesn't have to contend with the bar at the top. so your 'focus' cant believe I just that word, is straight into content with no distractions. This is all subjective mind... but from a designers point of view as well as as a consumer, its nice and free. put your macOS safari into full screen mode and youll get a idea.

Id go as far to say, why have it at all until you scroll. much prefer the floating bar, then it dropping to the bottom and turning white. thats a backwards design move for me. we know what site we are on, we dont need to be reminded as we read.

swipping between tabs is a lovely touch. so much faster and more natural.

While I agree that removing the bar on scroll would add to a clean look, it degrades usability of Safari (e.g. tap to quickly scroll up or open text box) cause you‘d otherwise have to squiggle around to get it to show up again.

Look how discrete that is. just sitting there when you need it - As your eye is mid to top involved with the screen. Id like to see it sit there permanently. no need for it to disappear in some clunky manner distracting you from your content.

it could even, wink wink apple, drop another 50-100 pixs, wink wink apple. or long press the screen in that bottom range and the bar appears where your thumb is would be cool. but thats another story...

Maybe macrumors causes the green tint too

Seriously, use Tapatalk for viewing macrumors. Very good experience.

I’m experiencing the same problems. My 12 Pro max usually lasts me a day and a half off a full charge. However! Whenever I’m on macrumors my battery drains extremely quickly. Earlier this week my phone was heating up to the point that the screen was automatically dimming, and my battery was going down drastically.

I agree it’s definitely Macrumors causing this. It only happens when I’m on this forum. using Chrome seems to help a little bit for me.

yeah there on it apparently.
I went from 25% to 13% being on here 10 or so mins, and my phone was very hot to touch the other night. I was waving it around in circles in my back garden to cool it down. - what a nutter to the neighbours. "its fine, nothing to see here, im an Apple beta tester"

I kept blaming apple every time they released a update lol, was about to open my phone to make sure it didn’t have a exynos 2100 chip inside. Exynos is back 🤦‍♂️😂 cracks me up every time.

I’ve lost anywhere between 5%-10% battery in a few minutes sometimes.

hopefully it get sorted out quickly.
