iOS 15 Beta 5 ― Bug Fixes, Changes, and Improvements

Just wondering if anyone could check out the following for me please:

Open up notes, create a new empty one and tap the microphone button to start dictation. Say a few words and end with “full stop” and pause.

After the short pause, about 8 times out of 10 mine is automatically adding a paragraph/line return unless I start speaking immediately after having said the words “full stop”. This will probably only apply to those countries that use “full stop” rather than period which I believe the Americans use. Period is not recognised in the UK settings as a “.”

Edit: to add, I’ve just tried it whilst creating this post and I get similar, if not the same, behaviour. I have been dealing with this long-standing issue with Apple since iOS 14.1 and it only seems to affect UK language/region iPhones and they are seemingly incapable, as always, of fixing the issue. There are further issues along these lines but I cannot be bothered going into them yet again.

Sadly, yes... but even then, the threads will be full of posts asking questions that a simple search or (better yet) a review of the first post in these "Beta X is out" threads would answer... you can lead a horse to water, but some folks can't be bothered to read...

When I Shazam a song from Control Center, the song is identified—but then whether or not I open the Shazam app after the song is identified, the song does NOT appear in MyShazams so basically every song I have Shazam'ed since iOS 15 has no record/history anywhere... :/

I think they go to the music app, they don't go to the dedicated Shazam app if using the control center button.

With Shazom on my 12 ProMax, I can have it scan the same song trwice and get different result sometimes.
No clue why. May have existed in beta 4 as I never checked that function.

I have no music playing, yet in control centre it’s stuck on this instead of saying not playing, not having this issue on my iPhone, only my iPad, anyone else with a iPad have the same issue? Only way to fix it temporary is to open the music app and kill it in the background, then it comes back again after a short period of time. 🤦‍♂️

Anyone know how to fix it? Or is it a bug?

Ed Sheeran might be a bug, but this is intended functionality. You never STOP playing, you just pause your audio. It shows you what you can expect to be playing if you just hit play on say your AirPods.

That is no bug, it works like that ever since the widget was introduced. Be happy it displays the last song played cause that means your phone is not purging now playing data from RAM (allowing you to continue right where you paused).

Anyone noticing brightness issues? I noticed second day in a row, with auto-brightness on, my screen doesn't shoot up to peak brightness to combat the sun. Phone was not hot on both occurrences.

OPTIMISED BATTERY works when you plug in the phone over night with a cable, but not using a Belkin wireless pad over night. 🤔

EDIT: will give these tips ago. I had significant locations off, but that didn’t effect OBC with cable charging, maybe might be what’s effecting wireless charging. Worth a go, and I’ll report back.

Guessing that's Visual Voicemail? That's not so common in the UK, only on a couple of the networks here, sadly!

That, and Apple Cash & Apple Card, are things we're missing in the UK that I would like.


I had that in iOS 13 and 14. Tended to only say Not Playing after a reboot.

Yea it’s VVM. I should’ve said that but just assumed. I have to admit I do use Apple Pay a lot if the businesses take it. Work does at our café so that’s nice.

I meant Apple Pay Cash, where you can send money to another person. We have normal Apple Pay.

I’ve just jumped onto the iPad IOS beta wagon. I thought that I would wait a while for the betas to ‘mature’ a while so thought beta 5 was my time.
so far I like it, however, on the Home Screen I have a couple of notifications on two folders but when entering the folders, no app contained within have a notification against them. It just shows on the Home Screen. I haven found this mentioned, but my search skills are lacking. Is this a bug? In which case I will feedback to Apple, or have I missed a new setting somewhere?

After every beta, I have to set it up again. At least create a pass code.

I have never had to set up VM merely going from update to update... You aren't doing a fresh install each time are you? I could see that triggering it but not simply upgrading the OS in place. Odd...

No. Just a simple upgrade. That’s it. Very odd.

Finally jumped on PB 5 for my daily driver 12 pro max. It's working smooth with no issues. Wireless Carplay on my 2017 BMW working with no issues. All apps I use are working as expected.

The only annoyance I have is when I have the phone in silent/vibrate mode(the switch on the side flipped) and am on a phone call with my Airpods on, I hear a small beep when I mute and unmute myself. This was not the behavior in the past. Happens on both phone calls and Teams calls. Is there a new setting am missing?
