While we’re all stuck on safari, the speed limit on maps has updated UI.
Share ETA is in two places now? I preferred the look of that not being on the main navigation screen. While we’re all stuck on safari, the speed limit on maps has updated UI.
Experiencing this on iOS 14.7.1 like all the time and it’s not even a beta.We interrupt this circular Safari debate to mention that Bluetooth connectivity—at least with Airpod Pros—seems to be significantly worse. My last phone call switched back to my phone 3 times in 10 minutes.
Now back to our regularly scheduled Safari discussion. As you were.
Think it only shows temporarily after first starting a route, and soon after disappears if you haven’t shared it with anybody.Share ETA is in two places now? I preferred the look of that not being on the main navigation screen.
You’re right. Testing it at home after seeing your screenshot and wasn’t sticking around in Navigation long enough to see it go away.Think it only shows temporarily after first starting a route, and soon after disappears if you haven’t shared it with anybody.
Did you really read the stuff that was under the floating bar and drop shadow before? No. That was all wasted space. Now it’s filled with useful buttons. Much better.
That’s what reachability is for.
The problem with it though is most apps don’t put everything on the bottom, neither do actual websites. Even Google.com had the search bar at the top. The “problem” of not being able to reach the top isn’t solved by chancing the url bar location in Safari. You still have to reach up there all the time to do things on a phone, even in Safari like if you want to go to bookmarks in the start page.
I thought the whole “I must use my phone with one hand” thing died out years ago anyways… Phones are just too big for that.
Safari Bar beta 5 and 6 content comparrison.
I've just put this together as a rough guide.
I think that this is now locked in and we won't see a change to it between now and release.Feedback has been given by me.Confused why people are sh*ting the bed about the Safari UI...
1. We are in a beta cycle, so testing things out, especially major changes is what this is all about. - give feedback!!!
2. It's not the final release - then ill be sh*ting the bed, maybe.
This is the same in beta 6.Can someone compare how much bigger the new safari address is on beta 6 when collapsed, posted a pic below from beta 5 👇

Been here since beta 1 or 2Now an alarm can be edited by tapping on it. Dunno if a bug or feature, I quite like it, as it saves one tap, but then the edit button gets completely redundant.
Hoping its a feature it was in beta 5 .. I also like this changeNow an alarm can be edited by tapping on it (dunno when it was changed, seeing it for the first time). Might be a bug or a feature, I quite like it, as it saves one tap, but then the edit button gets completely redundant.

Been that way since Beta 3 for me, didn't notice it in Beta 2, and I think I would have noticed, as I am clumsy lolNow an alarm can be edited by tapping on it (dunno when it was changed, seeing it for the first time). They’re not gonna go back. The bottom bar is fundamentally different now than beta 5. They brought back the proper refresh button and the aA button. The old design with the crappy too small button and the ridiculous “…” button are gone. It’s not just that they made the tab bar not float anymore, they changed how it functioned. There’s already two distinct Safari UIs, there won’t be a third, and they definitely won’t backtrack the new design and bring back the old one in place of it.They will definitely get a feedback from me to at least offer the option of the floating bar like with beta 5. If some people are happy with the beta 6 bottom bar, good for them, but if Apple is giving more UI options to safari, I don’t see why we can’t have the option of the floating bottom bar for those who like it better
I say that and I remember how I was skeptic of the safari redesign as announced at WWDC. The experience was more positive than I though, especially on a big phone like the 12 PM
I highly doubt there won’t be any changes. If not in the public release they’re gonna change it in the .x releases. They’re not gonna go back. Nice 👌 eww that hideous home bar 🤢🤮🤦♂️
I dunno why people are saying with the pre-beta 6 there is more content on the screen. Ye, you can see a bit more, but you can’t use it cuz it’s behind the bar. So what’s the point…
and my iPhone 12 Pro Max has been overheating since I installed the beta when it was released. The display goes dimmer all the time (and no, it’s not the auto-brightness lmao). I’m not doing anything else apart from using Safari, so that’s that…
I didn’t misread anything. I’m saying filling that empty useless space with buttons is not a waste of space. Having a floating bar with a heavy drop shadow that obscures stuff behind it is a perfect example of wasted space. I don’t see how it makes it “feel” cramped, when you’re scrolling and actually reading content then that stuff disappears anyways. There was no issue with the previous design or the current design in terms of feeling cramped when reading content. And when not reading content you get an array of useful buttons instead of just jamming everything behind a “…” button. Beta 1-5 was terrible design.Seems like you misread my post. Not sure if that was on purpose to make a silly point or not. I was not referring to under the floating bar. The new bottom bar in Beta 6 is higher on the screen than the floating bar. Plus with it being solid taking up all that space, it just makes the screen feel cramped again, like it was when the address bar was at the top.
Ahhh, so basically, you're pushing your opinion as the opinion of everyone and as facts, you're one of those people. I see. Maybe people still use phones with 1 hand. I have a Pro Max and still use it with one hand, and know a fair amount of people that do the same. Just cos you use 2 hands, doesn't mean everyone does.
We get it, you hate the bottom bar, well you still have the option to keep it up the top, so you've no reason to complain, or tell anyone on here that our opinion doesn't count, as that's what your posts are presented as.
I will hope then. The new design seems more usable, but damn it’s ugly. I am all for giving choice to people (which is not Apple-like), and I see that I’m not the only one to appreciate the beta 5 design. I cross my fingers, not a deal breaker in any caseThey’re not gonna go back. The bottom bar is fundamentally different now than beta 5. They brought back the proper refresh button and the aA button. I’m using my iPhone 12 Pro Max mostly one-handed (except for when typing) and never thought the bottom bar is more convenient than using Reachability and having the top bar.I don’t see anyone using their phone one handed. It’s too cumbersome and makes it easier to drop. What do you need your other hand for anyways? Using a phone takes your attention away from whatever else you’d use your hand for.
The beta 6 design is much more like the pre-iOS 15 design, it is the < beta 5 that looked inconsistent with the system.I will hope then. The new design seems more usable, but damn it’s ugly. I agree, and as I said I was very skeptic of this design choice at first. But after using it, I find it to be more convenient to use on my 12PM. To each their own, I would like Apple to keep both designs but I know it’s unlikelyThe beta 6 design is much more like the pre-iOS 15 design, it is the < beta 5 that looked inconsistent with the system.
The overheating and that with Safari is likely cos of this forum, as per previous threads about that.
