Anyone use the News app?

I am seeing the News app having a lot of background activity, even when background refresh is turned off and I force-close the app. The only way to stop it is to force-close the app and reboot. Launching News again causes the background activity until the next reboot.

Seeing this also. I killed News. Then again I generally do after a quick check for each beta.

Right now this is just an educated guess but I am thinking it is because even with background app refresh disabled for the news app, the widget will still pull information(If available). I am guessing the widget still uses the host app like any other widget will.

Yeah, I usually do also. On the beta though, the background activity still happens until I reboot the phone, even with the app fully killed.

Do you feel like it's a reporting error or actual background activity? It's not that significant, but I feel my battery usage is more when the News app is running in the background so not a reporting error.

Funny thing is this is the only app on my phone that has this issue. None of my other apps, including other stock apps are running wild in the background.

Okay, in that case, I would report it. I have not seen this with the news app but I definitely have the same issue with the Tile app with background disabled, the app fully closed, it shows "background" in the battery graph :p

the notch sits in that top example don’t forget. Then the bars just tucked away at the bottom ?!?
I probably figured out why they have that top bar still there: tap to go to top.

Lazy reason to obscure an area of the display that could show page content. Tapping one of the notches should just take you to the top of the page.

Yeah, I reported it. Started happening on B5. I don't use any of the tracking tiles/tags so can't comment on their behavior in iOS.

Understood but I noticed this on various social media apps as well like Twitter. One thing this reminds me of though, for some reason Mario Run was showing Backgrounding on an ipad on beta 1 of iOS 15. I don't think that app has ever done "Backgrounding," especially when closed. Lol.

Yeah, I don't understand that at all. When the app is fully closed, it should be killed completely.

Exactly, I reported it as well, I know it is beta but I don't recall this in iOS 14, not like that matters much though, haha.

Haven’t given it much thought. I do know it was showing up after I looked at it and then closed and killed. You are correct, just checked, I had to reboot to completely kill background.
12 ProMax.

SAFARI won’t update location. I’m lost. 😆😂

Now how do I refresh in Safari……?

Normally, you should have the refresh button to the right of the address field. You can also swipe down to refresh, just like any other iphone app. If you would prefer, there is an option to put the toolbar back on the top like it used to be. I am pretty sure that the refresh exists in the usual spot if using the top orientation method.
