Hi everyone,

A couple of days ago I updated two Xs from the latest 14.x to 15.1. System animations on my Xs are sluggish (similar to a frames drop effect). However, my wife's Xs is like before, fast and smooth. I have been trying to figure out what is the difference between them but in vain. We bought an iPhone Xs 64Gb together in the same US Apple store in December 2018, have an active backup to iCloud, ±20Gb free space, almost identical system settings and apps, similar battery health (81% (mine), and 86%). I guess this is a software problem and hope it will be fixed soon.

By the way, I bought Pixel 3 in November 2018, some months ago I updated it to the latest Android 12, it works as fast as on the first day, with no problems at all. iPhone Xs and Google Pixel 3 were released in Autumn 2018, they are in the same category in sense of performance. Therefore it would be a shame for Apple not to fix this annoying bug.
Same widgets?

I was on 14.8 when I started following this thread to see when it was safe to update. However I also wanted watchOS 8, so I decided to take the plunge and update from 14.8 to 15.1 and at the same time update my watch.
At first my iPhone XS was smooth and I didn’t notice much difference from 14.8. However about a week later the stuttering began and since then it hasn’t gone away. I’m not aware that I did something special with my phone to trigger this. Battery health is at the same 91% as it was before the update and I never enabled iCloud photos either.

This reminds me of three years ago, when iPhone XS (hot new phone back then) was plagued with stutters after not touching the display for about 10 seconds (say you were reading something and then you wanted to swipe up and close the app—the animations were horrendous). Almost every app was affected and it was solved by Apple only after it made the news, some months later…

We need some tech sites to post front page articles about this. This needs more coverage.

I don’t even think Apple is really aware of the issues. Feedback reports get burried in thousands of other things I fear.

My feedback to Apple. More than 10. There will be really bad implementation for ProMotion.

After installing 15.2 release all stutters seems to be gone on XS. At least those happening on apps minimizing, which I experienced the most of the time.

Same for me at this time, but I am checking again a few hours later. The bug occours after some time usually.

Closing app stutter seems to be fixed on this iOS 15.2 update. Though it's a little early to celebrate, I believe I saw the stutter on previous iOS 15 versions right after installing, only after using for a few minutes, which means this is is good news by now.

For me it still seems fine after about 12 hours … but still testing. I can’t believe that the bug is fixed yet.
