This has got to be the most ridiculous thread I have ever read.

Literally everybody complaining over a feature that they think is used by everybody just because it's used themselves.

I myself have never used DND like the way it's described in this article or comments, does that mean everybody uses it like me? No, so why the hell does there have to be an uprising about this?

Also... I gotta ask, how in the world does this usage make any sense?! You want to be in DND when it's locked, but then you unlock your phone and get notifications and then lock again and go back to DND? How often are you on your device between locks that you require this feature? If you are on your phone for seconds between locks this doesn't make any sense to me. If you are on your phone a lot, how can a swipe to control centre and a tap be so insane to toggle off DND that it breaks you as a person?

I understand that if someone has a use case and that is removed that it is upsetting, but you also have the option to not update your device. You even have the option now to roll back

You might have the option to roll back today but what happens in a month if I get a warranty replacement on my iPhone and it arrives with iOS 15? The "you decide to upgrade" argument holds no water with iOS as you cannot roll back after a few weeks at most and iOS also eventually just downloads the several GB update and prompts you to update constantly.

I sure wish I could disable the stupid focus notifications every single d4mn time it changes. I mean do I really need that drop down constantly happening?

Similarly, just because you didn’t use it doesn’t mean no one used it or had legitimate use cases. For one, there’s an article about it and plenty of comments. It’s a feature that’s been there since notifications were introduced.

Anything we can do to get this back. If I turn on notifications for those apps and the phone is locked in do not disturb the screen turns on every time. What the he$$ is going on? Why would they drop this.

I've noticed that manually turning on the sleep focus will trigger automations but manually turning off the sleep focus won't. The inconsistency is very frustrating. Other focuses work the way you would expect but sleep doesn't.

For me the 15.0.1 update (and then 15.0.2) solved the issue with the one-click DND issue… Now it works like it used to by clicking on the half moon 🌙 pull down menu… It basically works the way it used to. The alarms still work, and I can see all the notifications when I wake up…

It's worked like it used to when iPhone's locked since iOS 15.0 for me, it's when iPhone's unlocked/in use and notifications don't appear that's the issue.

So annoying! I've submitted feedback to Apple via their site.

I am on 15.0.2 and notification banners don't appear when I'm using the iPhone/unlocked. Do they for you?
Hmm, the notifications work as they used to with DND enabled for me now… 🤷‍♂️ Not really sure if we’re thinking about the same thing, though… I use DND when I’m sleeping, and I can see the notifications on the locked screen when I wake up… I guess you mean something different? I don’t have it enabled unless I really don’t want to get disturbed. I thought that was the whole point of the feature… 🤷‍♂️

Yeah, I use DND while I sleep too - and it works the same in that sense like you say. But if I turn on DND before I go to sleep, and still use my phone messaging etc, no notifications appear as banners etc that would have come through in that way on iOS 14, so you have to physically check for notification badges etc. It's definitely now worse in that sense.

Does anyone know if this has been fixed in a new beta? I used to have DND active from 10pm to 6am but sometimes I’m still imessaging past 10 pm but I don’t get my notifications cuz of this. It’s so frustrating…

I upgraded a few days ago to iOS 15 because I got a new AW7, which requires 15. I have scheduled DND to come on/off at certain times during weekdays, and at different times for weekends. I have yet to see them come on or off as scheduled, I am having to manually turn on/off DND now.

Has anyone else had this problem, and is there a workaround? I have restarted my phone to see if it was a glitch, but I have the same behavior. I will never remember to manually turn DND on every night, that's the whole point of scheduling it.

With iOS 15, Apple expanded the Do Not Disturb feature from iOS 14 into a full Focus Mode option that's designed to allow users to set up different scenarios to manage their incoming notifications.

Focus Mode is handy because it lets you decide exactly what alerts and apps you want to see at home, while at work, when sleeping, when exercising, and in other situations, but as Reddit users have pointed out, Apple has dropped a key Do Not Disturb feature.

Do Not Disturb in iOS 14 had a setting that allowed incoming calls and notifications to be silenced at all times, or only when the iPhone was locked. With this setting, you could turn on Do Not Disturb but still get all of your calls and notifications if you unlocked your phone and were actively using it.

Some people used this setting to have Do Not Disturb active at all times during the day so the iPhone was silenced when it was locked, but they weren't missing alerts when the iPhone was in use. From Reddit:There is no equivalent setting in Focus Mode, so there's no longer an option to receive notifications when the iPhone is unlocked and silence them when it's not in use. With Focus Mode, it's an all or nothing experience - notifications are being received, or they're silenced in all situations.

Many Reddit users are unhappy with the change and are hoping that Apple will reintroduce a similar feature in a future iOS 15 update.

Hi,

I’ve recently come to find that people with iPhones that use i messenger are now notified if a phone is on do not disturb.
I had recently used this as I was at work and my phone was constantly going off. I put it on do not disturb. During this time my other half went to text me- he said when he was typing me a message it came up with a line saying “do not disturb activated” I was shocked! Not that I was bothered but what if someone I wanted to avoid was informed of this? Has anyone else found this. If not try it. I did when I got home. I’m not sure I like that it does it. What are others views on this?

I tried this with two iPhones and can’t get the message “do not disturb activated”, for what’s it’s worth.

DND Focus is broken if you ask me.

I tried to schedule it to come on at 22:00 and to go off at 07:00 the next morning but it just doesn't work. It will come on at 22:00 and stay on all night (I turn my phone off at 23:30). When I then turn my phone back on in the morning at 06:35, DND gets turned off, when it should actually still be on until 07:00...???!

I have had to edit the schedule now so that it comes on at 22:00 and goes off at around 23:00 and then comes back on at 06:40 (when my phone is on) and goes back off at 07:00.

?‍♂️?‍♂

You cannot have foci that overlap. Otherwise, the next focus overrides the prior focus. If your wake time is 6:35, it will turn off DND.
