I’ve never properly understood this… “8 builds newer” when you got a sec, would love to know. Cheers ??
People read way too much into build numbers, IMNSHO. Some builds have more changes than others — a sequence of 8 minor builds could have far fewer changes than than a single build that merges in a branch with dozens of fixes and new features.

You can't even really use the size of a delta update image to determine how many changes have been made, because even small bugfixes can have cascading effects on dependent applications, libraries, etc — and every single changed file has to be included in a delta update image, even if there was only a single line of dependent code that changed.

I agree. However, what I think that Apple is doing is a build per working day. As Pearsey said that the new version has been “2 weeks in the making”, if we assume that my hypothesis is true, the build number should be able to reveal how long the build was actually in the making, in terms of days.

So true. Don't even remember who started this 'a' build 'b' build 'c' build thing here. They are absolutely not representative of what they contain!

It's certainly possible, and a daily (or, more likely, nightly) build schedule makes logical sense, but I wouldn't make the assumption that the builds selected for a given beta release follow a fixed schedule — i.e., the nightly build from the day before beta release day is the one that gets posted. Presumably they choose the beta candidate based on specific fixes that are included and/or one that passes a certain threshold of automated test cases to ensure that no showstopper bugs or regressions escape from internal testing (though, obviously, some fairly significant bugs still make it through — they're called "beta" builds for a reason!).

Ahhhh I seee. Thanks for explaining buddy ??

If we get a RC this week, I just hope it's not the same build as beta 3. The latest beta definitely needs some work still.

Should we all come up with a contingency plan in case new betas are not released today? ? I might need to join Pearsay for a sesh.
Yeah, I'm going to need something but I have a pretty strong inkling that another beta will be coming today at the usual time. There's no way they let this current abortion ride any longer than two weeks.
