And to go along with this, Apple likely new 2-3 months ago that iOS 15 b1 was going to run as smoothly as we are all finding now. They run the versions internally looong before we see them.
iOS 15 Beta 1

Release Date ― June 7, 2021
Build Number ― 19A5261w
Darwin Kernel Version ― 21.0.0: Sat May 22 02:37:36 PDT 2021; root:xnu-7938.0.0.112.1~5

I’m not sure but if the kernel is dated may 22, apple have not been running beta 1 internally before that date. They have been running other versions fore some time the beta we got probably only a couple of weeks.

Fixed that for you... patience, young grasshopper...

And FWIW, Cook never said "July"... he said "next month"... perhaps that's a distinction without a difference, but words mean things.

In the keynote (June 7) Tim Cook said specifically (1:44:45) "each of them [OSes] will have a public beta next month"... the slide did say July, but Cook only said "next month"... po-tay-to, po-tah-to. But regardless, the public beta won't be out in June.

I remember being very anxious about how smooth iOS 14 b1 was this time last year, and being nervous about how buggy b2 could/would be LoL

iOS 14 b2 was released 15 days after b1, so if the same holds true for iOS 15, today would be the day I guess. Something tells me we're going to see iOS 14.7 and maybe macOS 11.5 today, though.

I hope it‘s today, my life is pretty boring right now and B2 would be the highlight of the week outside of work.

That being said, we should expand our speculation to also include bets on whether the upcoming beta release is better or worse than the current one. The quality of Beta 1 reminds me of that one freakshow beta cycle from a few years ago that had a great B1, followed by trainwreck B2 and B3 that had me literally crawling for 4 weeks straight, praying to Craig Federeghi every night for sweet salvation (which came with B4, if I recall correctly).

I‘m optimistic: Beta 2 will be great too and fix a few annoyances.
Recall that slugfest as well. Don't jinx things okay ;)

Beta 1 had to be released to coincide with WWDC. But Beta 2 may not appear until the developers have shoehorned in all their planned changes to iOS 15. My guess is the next beta will be next week and less stable.
