It was expected that it‘s next week. We‘re too early for this to be a day after the DB already.
I always forget if it’s the week after early on, or the day after, and then when it goes to being same day. Think I am going senile lol.

I was sure it was the week after, but then someone the other day corrected me that it was the day after, so I changed accordingly, but you’re saying it’s what I was saying originally. Now I’m confused.

Aren't the Public Beta's usually released at 1pm (PST), not the usual 10am?

There's still potentially another 2 1/4 hours to wait...

RE the people stating Apple "don't usually" release a day after DB this early.... the updated DB2 and the PB came out hours apart...

The updated DB2 was not a standard release, so cannot be used to disprove the usual process.

By the same token, the fact that they re-issued a DB in prep of a PB isn't the usual process either. Not saying it hasn't happened before, but for the most part DB have usually been the same build as PB - just released a little later.

Apple have done a lot over the years to "switch things up" when it comes to releasing Beta's. So just because it's not the "usual process" doesn't mean it won't happen.

PBs have always been the same build as the DBs.

First few releases of PB are usually a week or so after the DB. Ignoring the revised DB, the PB was the same way Apple usually does it, a week after the DB. The Revised DB was a misnomer. Same as when we‘ve had the rare emergency re-release of a DB with a slightly newer build due to as showstopper Just before the PB was due.

So, really, DB2 and PB1 actually proves that Apple are sticking to their usual process.

I had gotten myself mixed up with later in the process about it being the day after (as per my post earlier in response to @TimFL1 ), so I’m actually thinking it’s coming next week.

Now watch for Apple to drop it in the next couple hours since I said that ?

Then again, Apple has literally released 2 major betas in a week due to some issue with the one from the first half of the week (instead of merely doing a hotfix). We mere humans wont be able to grasp the level of 5D Chess that Mr. Cook and co. are playing with us.

We are at their mercy in this game, so buckle up and prepare for the unexpected beauty of a full-force COVID-19 beta cycle.

Apple really needs to stop this BS, if the beta is stable enough for everyday use, which it is, release the damn PB FFS, stop trying to build up the hype. ?‍♂️?
Serious question: Are you saying this tongue in cheek?

…or do you genuinely believe that Apple’s major release software planning—which I’d bet 90% percent of iPhone users don’t even know exists, let alone participate in—is in any way crafted and/or influenced in any way by an effort to create “hype”?

Apple has an exponentially better—you know, keepers of the source code—handle of what’s “stable enough” than everyone on this forum combined (myself included) and the anecdotal advice that bubbles up around the internet from a nanofraction of the user-base.

I’d like to see the next beta as much as anyone, but I fail to see any so-called “BS”.

FWIW Spotlight/Search is not working systemwide for a lot of testers, me included. Perhaps they’re holding off PB because it’s a huge bug right now.

The only way I can launch an app that’s not on my Home Screen is by manually scrolling through the App Library…

More of a rant, since I’m pissed off that it wasn’t released today. ?‍♂️?
Gotcha, hahaha. I’m bummed too.

It’s not like I like carrying Apple’s water for them or anything, but I’ve seen so many out there conspiracy theories about the company that I’m having trouble distinguishing expressions of frustration/venting from serious assertions, hahaha.

No updates on a Friday unless it’s an urgent fix.

And with 14.7 full release imminent, that will be the priority for next week.

If anything, Apple have lately made it clear never say never. We’ve had Friday beta releases, that were not urgent fixes over the last couple of years.

Though, that being said, I am expecting PB to be next week, as ‘usually’ the PB is the week after the DB release early on in the x.0 beta process.
