Ok cool! As long as your wife's laptop isn't running Sonoma, should be good. At least, that's what I have concluded being the main issue with downgrading. I could be wrong.15 pro max yes
iPhone now has 17.1B2. Plugged phone into mac (12.7) with Sony PS5 USB-A -> USB-C cable and received the prompt to install a software update to connect to my phone. Under iPhone Software Update, I made sure Beta Updates were "off." Booted into DFU mode, laptop says Recovery Mode, Option + "clicked" Restore iPhone. Selected the 17.0.3 IPSW, click Open, and click Restore. Extracted Software.....Preparing iphone for Restore. iPhone shows progress bar, no errors.
One way to find out... I won't install the update when that prompt comes up. Time to reload again..That’s exactly what I’m doing. So weird. Mine extracts and as soon as that’s done I get error 1669. I wonder what software update it downloaded to connect to phone maybe I’m missing that part.
I wasn't asked to do the update. Assuming because the MBP already installed it. I was able to replicate the 1669 by disabling networking. Do you have any network protection/firewall/antivirus installed on your mac? As soon as I enabled the network, DFU mode the phone, I was able to install the update with no issues. One way to find out... I won't install the update when that prompt comes up. same error on my home wifi and also same error on my wife's MacBook Air as well hers is on Sonoma thoughI wasn't asked to do the update. Assuming because the MBP already installed it. hmm... it might appears you are stuck in beta jail. At least until the official 17.1 releases and you can toggle the Beta Updates to "Off."same error on my home wifi and also same error on my wife's MacBook Air as well hers is on Sonoma though
There really doesn't seem to be a rhyme or reason to it. Other 14PM users love their battery. I know on previous beta cycles, my battery has been stellar whereas others haven't had the same luck. I guess it's just my turn.Bizarre. I wonder why it’s such a different experience across the range.
My phone is managed with lots of corporate crapware too, not like it’s the only native apps specimen.

I’ve had to reset network settings several times. “Syncing” keeps recurring. Currently the syncing notice has reappeared on my iPad but has not on my phone. But I did the reset last night on my phone. I think it’s only a matter of time , a reset is only a temporary solution to this. Why wait on a Network reset? It is fairly benign unless re-entering wifi passcodes is too cumbersome.. Mine has been clean since doing that and I have noticed a few other apps that seemed sluggish when updating (Mail, web links) have been more responsive as well.
I used to do a network reset after updates but had gotten out of the practice for some reason. I now see why I was doing it to begin with.
At least Feedback Assistant shows multiple reports of this with a fix identified for a future release.I’ve had to reset network settings several times. “Syncing” keeps recurring. Interesting, Sparks been good as gold on my 14P 🤔.
Seems like when the keyboard is in play things quit. Might be related.
Interesting. Spark has been an absolute disaster for me since iOS 16 and I haven't been able to use it anymore (I try again every few months). It keeps showing huge background usage values all the time. While it doesn't seem to drain the battery, it still throws all my statistics off and I hate that. Spark support says there's nothing they can do and that it's the fault of iOS. Weird, because no other apps do that to me.
Yeah it worked amazingly on my ip14Pro. How weird.
Can you not just turn off “background app refresh” for Spark?

That’s the last 10 days from the battery settings.
No issues with Spark here either. Man, that's my go to app for mail. Hope you get it resolved with the B3.Interesting. iPhone 15 models can't downgrade via Restore/DFU mode running 17.1 B1/B2/B3. Other iPhone models seem to work fine.Trying to understand this issue a bit better. Is the problem that you cannot downgrade at all, or that you cannot downgrade by restoring a prior backup from 17.0.x?
I just downgraded via recovery mode and just allowed the recovery to reset the phone to factory defaults and it worked, so I must not be doing the same thing others are that are experiencing the issue. Tried reading the thread, but wasn't able to ascertain what the exact configuration is that causes this issue.
Thanks for the information. Good info!iPhone 15 models can't downgrade via Restore/DFU mode running 17.1 B1/B2/B3. Other iPhone models seem to work fine.
I've tried the following downgrade options. I'm running macOS 14 on my M2 MBA.
17.1 B1 down to 17.0.2 = Fail
17.1 B2 down to 17.0.2 = Fail
17.1 B2 down to 17.0.3 = Fail
17.1 B3 down to 17.0.3 = Fail
When in either Restore/DFU mode, once you get to the step where it states it's prepping your iPhone for restore, when your phone reboots, instead of going to the installation screen, it just boots back into iOS and Finder eventually throws an installation error. I've been getting Error 4045 I believe.
I've also tried this on Windows and fails as well. So from what I've read, as of today, Downgrading is possible if you're running macOS 13.6, but not on macOS 14 Sonoma.
