Another overnight reboot on my 14 pro. My SE is not rebooting and both are on 14.1b2. Per System Status Pro, the 14 pro is also under heavier load than the SE even with no background apps open. This is very weird.

I guess you meant 17.1B2 rather than 14.1B2.

Been syncing for at least 4 days now! I haven’t noticed any issues, or any network activity that would indicate some type of persistent connection going on. Battery stats indicate only 1% for Messages. Has to be a display glitch. I might try a network reset if the next update doesn’t resolve it, but for now, no harm, no foul.
Why wait on a Network reset? It is fairly benign unless re-entering wifi passcodes is too cumbersome.. Mine has been clean since doing that and I have noticed a few other apps that seemed sluggish when updating (Mail, web links) have been more responsive as well.

I used to do a network reset after updates but had gotten out of the practice for some reason. I now see why I was doing it to begin with.

FYI - I was able to downgrade my iPhone 15 Pro from iOS 17.1 Beta 2 to 17.0.3 successfully. I reloaded my MacBook Pro (M1) to Ventura (13.6), downloaded the IPSW 17.0.3, put the iPhone into DFU mode, and selected the 17.0.3 IPSW file to restore. Without having a backup of 17.0.x, I had to re-install everything, but problem solved. Also, I used the white USB-C cable that came with the phone in case anyone is curious.

In the past, I tried downgrading under MacOS Sonoma 14 and 14.1 beta, both unsuccessful.
Did you sign out of iCloud or do anything in particular before restoring? Still can’t restore my iPhone 15 pm

The only thing I did was turn off Betas under Software Updates. Are you running Ventura? And going into DFU mode? Not Recovery mode.

Certain haptics on my 14promax has gone weird since upgrading. When triggering a certain shortcut I used to get this patterned vibration, now it has become just one long vibration. I hope ita not because my taptic engine is failing. Has anyone experienced similar issues?

I’ve stayed away from doing a reset because in the past it would kick all devices signed into the iCloud account off WiFi, no longer does that however. It does change the device name back to the generic iPhone as well as kick it off the WiFi network. However since you urged it I did just do it on my phone…and it worked! Thank you. Now I’m off to do it on my iPad Pro. 🙏👍

Yep that work finally. I kept doing recovery mode instead of dfu mode. Thanks a lot.

I did do it on my iPad and it also worked but for some reason it returned on my phone. I was syncing my phone to my Mac when I noticed it. I may do the reset again on the phone and keep it away from the computer to see if it comes back.

I’ve now reset network settings again on my phone and that has once again removed that “syncing” notice from Messages. I did have to remember to turn WiFi calling back on. I will keep the phone away from my Mac; the notice is still gone from my iPad.

is the album art now showing for some of you on this update? I’m just curious if anyone seen this and it is now fixed.

Any tips on getting into dfu mode. I keep getting the apple logo appearing.
It's a finger exercise and precise timing... Volume Up <release> + Volume Down <release> + Side Button until screen goes black. While holding Side button + volume down for 5 secs, release side button. Screen should stay black and Mac will notify the phone is in DFU mode. It can take a few times to nail it. Just don't try to do the reloading of firmware in recovery mode, only DFU.

So I managed to get it into dfu mode and held option before clicking restore and navigated to the 17.0.3 ipsw but failed with error 1669. Phone booted up with all my data still on it

What OS are you running?

Mac OS 12.7 latest one my older MacBook Air will run
I tested successfully under 12.6. I'd think 12.7 would be fine. What kind of cable are you using? USB-A to USB-C? Or a dongle.. dock? I used a USB-A to USB-C cable for my test.

I have a anker usb-a to usb-c cable. I’m definitely getting dfu mode because the screen is black. But my MacBook Air still says it’s detected a iPhone in recovery mode.

Just tested on my MBP on 12.6. I do see it says Software: iPhone Recovery Mode.

So you're saying when you Option + click Restore Iphone, select the 17.0.3 IPSW file, it gives you the error?

yes

Curious, before you tried going into DFU mode, did you let the phone boot up and trust it on both the device and the laptop?

yes I have trusted it and typed in passcode
Ok.. I'm putting 17.1 B2 back on my phone. I'll try it again on 12.7 this time. Just updated the MBP with your version. I'm using this crappy logitech cable (USBA -> USBC) that came with a mouse, nothing magical.

I'll report back.

I appreciate the dedication. I can always try with my wife's newer MacBook Air tomorrow when I get home from work too.
