My keyboard still completely lags, once I enable haptic feedback. It goes away as soon as I deactivate it. Initially I thought it was an issue on my iPhone 12 PM starting to show it’s age on iOS 17 but it is also happening on my iPhone 15 Plus.

It’s like I type too fast and the phone needs a moment to „think“ and to catch up to what I actually just typed. It’s super annoying and reminds me of Windows ME says.

It’s showing the first two letters of a word immediately, then pauses for a moment and only then shows the remaining letters of a word but extra fast. Don’t know how to explain it

Using Siri with Apple Music, when I ask for a release date of the current track it just gives the artist and track names. This hasn’t worked for the last few versions of 17 betas and public releases for me.

Would appreciate if someone could check if their Stupid-Siri behaves the same. Ta.

So far lost 14% charge since chafing to 99% before using my 15 PM to watch the rugby game on and off my phone
More details would help... an hour? 2 hours? Was the screen on the entire time? Were you on wifi or cellular? do you have background app refresh turned on? If so, what apps?

Can't just drop a number and expect it to mean anything..

Since updating to RC2, I have been seeing unexpected app freezing. Maybe the apps need updates.
Except for haptics.

Heckfire - screen stops accepting user input but the game keeps running - at least the animations do.
Safari - tab leveraging pdf occasionally freezes. Killing it and reloading usually fixes the issue.
Kindle - infrequent freezing of the app when a book is open. Page turning stops working.
Haptics changed - same feel no matter what app is using it.

OTA from RC1 to RC2.

Other than these it has been working well.

USB c should have happened a long time ago. I bought the new AirPods just to ditch lightning. I hate buying this stuff and will sell the lightning stuff off.

certainly happy that Apple is eating crow and moving over to a mainstay standard because this is so much easier for everything and everyone

Interesting Apple leant 13 engineers to the development of USB-C, they had a HUGE hand in it. I'm thinking, they were hoping to skip USB-C and go to FULL WIRELESS, with no cables needful any longer. It'll happen at some point, but likely a few years down the road

Anyone else use standby overnight on their 15 pro or pro max and hear it do the bong noise to indicate its charging, even though it’s obviously been on the charger all night? It sometimes does it two or three times in succession. It’s always later in the morning, when I would get it has got to 80% charge (which is how I’ve told the iPhone to charge to).

A friend of mine says their 15 pro does it as well.

I’ve had this issue for the last two or three versions and am interested in other peoples feedback before I get it reported. Ta.

No bongs here. I can't figure out how to make sure the display falls asleep after enabling Sleep Cycle tho, sometimes I've set it where that works.. and other times it just dims and stays dim

Maybe the GM of 17.1 will end up addressing this? Not a big deal, but it would of course be nice to have consistent behaviour

Returned the SE I bought exactly two weeks ago (whew, that was a close one!) and picked up a yellow iPhone 15 just to run this beta! :D Well, not really just for this beta, but it is running very well and I'm loving the new phone 🤩

So far 17.1RC has been great on my 14PM. Zero bugs noticed (yet) …. Speed, stability, battery life & overall performance is top notch, the best of all 17.1 betas opening apps and navigating around iOS.

My partner has a 14 plus that was running 17.0.3, got them onto 17.1RC and they have also seen improvements.

As a follow-up to my Contact Poster issue from the previous thread. I can see the phone app has dropped from 2.8GB to "only" 488MB. Still too high when the app is under 10MB and the images I have added TOTAL are 10MB. But it seems that iOS itself cleans up the app over time.

I was about 4 whiskey sours in when I posted this, amazed I was coherent.

We watched about 20mins of the game on my phone before switching back to the TV.
- background app refresh: off
- Connected to WiFi

I’m had also used Uber.

By the time I got back home I was at around 76%, again used Uber.

Overall battery life seems not too different from iOS17.0.3, do not expect some huge jump in it.

Still no facetime over T-Mobile cellular.... so frustrating. This is on all 8 phones on our account.

The released software of which this thread is about IS the “GM” of 17.1. Apple does not use the term GM any more.

The only way that could happen is if wired connections stop getting faster and wireless connections catch up. That's about as unlikely as the Earth being flat ;)

The real reason it took time to migrate to USB-C was because transitions take time especially when so many users have a bunch of lightning chargers, headphones and other accessories that they just bought. Let those devices age a little before dumping on your customers.

Then there are use case changes. Now that Apple Log video recording is viable, those videos need to be transferred over to SSDs.

You might go into your Face time settings and make sure you have a check mark next to your cells phone number , I‘m on T-Mobile in SoCal and used facetime video and audio yesterday a few times with no issues ..

Having the same issues on my 15PM, random short freezes or apps seems running but not responding to my input.

Another issue I have been running into … Notifications

I’ll be in an app and get the pop up banner that at times won’t go away unless I swipe it up.

Noticed this since 17.1 B3, RC1 and RC2, on my 15 PM a banner will popup as usual but may hang permanently until I swipe it away.

I had a strange behavior last night with my 15 Pro Max. I have a Nomad Magsafe Charger and use it for over a Year now. I heard the charging sound and go to sleep. When I wake up it did not charge. I took places the phone to the charger again and it started to charge for a second and then stop. Then starts again. Over and over.

I did a Hardreset with the Volumebuttons and then it was working again normally. Very strange but happy that everything is working fine again.

I may found out what the issue was. It was not due to RC2. My Lonli Case has misaligned Magnets and did not completely align with my Nomad Base Charger.
