Here's a sporadic bug I've been seeing since iOS 17 on iPhone 15 Pro Max only (not 14 Pro Max or iPad).
My iCloud Photos sync just randomly gets stuck syncing a photo from time to time. Restarting, hard restarting, all sorts of 'solutions' from forums...nothing seems to work. Deleting a lot of pics can sometimes be a fix but the images have to be completely deleted...bin emptied. Since 'stuck' pics can't be saved to he Files app or even shared as they are also 'stuck' on the share sheet (endless 'processing' message), the user loses the pics when deleting.
The issue can be so severe and without proper resolution that I've actually cancelled my 2TB iCloud account and instead opened a Google Photos account as a photo backup alternative. I'm keeping a 200GB iCloud account for iPhone backups.
I reported the bug to Apple about 3 or 4 weeks ago on 17.0.2 if I recall correctly but it's still not fixed as of 17.1 RC 2. I'm dismayed because the Google Photos solution is nowhere near as good as iCloud but the bug is a 'showstopper' for me. I even sent back my initial iPhone 15 Pro Max as I thought it was hardware related but the bug is showing on a new install on a new phone.
Funny thing is, I used the same backup on an iPhone 14 Pro Max for a few weeks and the bug didn't appear - only seems to be on 15 Pro Maxes for some bizarre reason. I'm gradually losing confidence in Apple - the reliability of their software is not what it once was from my perspective.
