Here's a sporadic bug I've been seeing since iOS 17 on iPhone 15 Pro Max only (not 14 Pro Max or iPad).

My iCloud Photos sync just randomly gets stuck syncing a photo from time to time. Restarting, hard restarting, all sorts of 'solutions' from forums...nothing seems to work. Deleting a lot of pics can sometimes be a fix but the images have to be completely deleted...bin emptied. Since 'stuck' pics can't be saved to he Files app or even shared as they are also 'stuck' on the share sheet (endless 'processing' message), the user loses the pics when deleting.

The issue can be so severe and without proper resolution that I've actually cancelled my 2TB iCloud account and instead opened a Google Photos account as a photo backup alternative. I'm keeping a 200GB iCloud account for iPhone backups.

I reported the bug to Apple about 3 or 4 weeks ago on 17.0.2 if I recall correctly but it's still not fixed as of 17.1 RC 2. I'm dismayed because the Google Photos solution is nowhere near as good as iCloud but the bug is a 'showstopper' for me. I even sent back my initial iPhone 15 Pro Max as I thought it was hardware related but the bug is showing on a new install on a new phone.

Funny thing is, I used the same backup on an iPhone 14 Pro Max for a few weeks and the bug didn't appear - only seems to be on 15 Pro Maxes for some bizarre reason. I'm gradually losing confidence in Apple - the reliability of their software is not what it once was from my perspective.

I was about 4 whiskey sours in when I posted this, amazed I was coherent.

We watched about 20mins of the game on my phone before switching back to the TV.
- background app refresh: off
- Connected to WiFi

I’m had also used Uber.

By the time I got back home I was at around 76%, again used Uber.

Overall battery life seems not too different from iOS17.0.3, do not expect some huge jump in it.
I’ve seen reports that Live Activities (especially with “allow more frequent updates” enabled) is draining battery more than previously.

My keyboard still completely lags, once I enable haptic feedback. It goes away as soon as I deactivate it. Initially I thought it was an issue on my iPhone 12 PM starting to show it’s age on iOS 17 but it is also happening on my iPhone 15 Plus.

It’s like I type too fast and the phone needs a moment to „think“ and to catch up to what I actually just typed. It’s super annoying and reminds me of Windows ME says.

It’s showing the first two letters of a word immediately, then pauses for a moment and only then shows the remaining letters of a word but extra fast. Don’t know how to explain it
Do you have any extra keyboards, I've only had this issue when there's been multiple keyboard installed (not including the emoji one)

I only have one keyboard installed and even the stickers deactivated. I do have multiple "dictionary" installed though. German, German-English, English (UK), Apple-Dictionary and write with my friends in German and English, using the same keyboard.

Noticed this since 17.1 B3, RC1 and RC2, on my 15 PM a banner will popup as usual but may hang permanently until I swipe it away.
Sounds like critical notifications is enabled for those apps. deactivate them on a case by case basis in notification settings in iOS. Could be permanent banner style enabled too

I don‘t get why I can write in German AND English on my 14 pro on iOS 17.1 without having two keyboards enabled.. my iPad Air 5 on 17.1 needs both German and English keyboard enabled to write in English. So weird

Is this new with 17.1? With 17.0.3 I can write in German and English without having both enabled.

You just need to activate the dictonary for both languages. For me it works. Only dictation works in both languages with 2 keyboards active. I don`t like to have 2 keyboards active. It just feels wrong with the emoji button.

Do you have English as a second language under „Languages & Region“?

Didn’t work for me without it a few months ago and I was wondering what happened

17.1 RC I woke up to my phone turned off saying it last charged to 1% at 5AM yet I somehow have 37% battery. Weird.

Exactly, this is how it works for me with both German and English too

Anyone else use standby overnight on their 15 pro or pro max and hear it do the bong noise to indicate its charging, even though it’s obviously been on the charger all night? It sometimes does it two or three times in succession. It’s always later in the morning, when I would get it has got to 80% charge (which is how I’ve told the iPhone to charge to).

A friend of mine says their 15 pro does it as well.

I’ve had this issue for the last two or three versions and am interested in other peoples feedback before I get it reported. Ta.
Same here, 15 Pro , 80% max charging.
Belkin goes bong (Son et lumière) , ESR-charger goes black display .

It stops at 80%. As the battery depletes, it starts charging again to 80%. That's why you hear the charging sound.

Dictionary for English is enabled on iPad and iPhone. I really don’t like having two keyboards active too

On iPhone I have only German as language enabled, no second language is needed. I can type in German or English no problems at all. only on my iPad I’m not able to type in English (all words were autocorrected to German… all settings are streamlined between the devices

LOL, removing english As a secondary language has fixed it for me it seems

but I encountered a new bug/behaviour, typically when you hold the delete Button On the Keyboard it should delete Text very fast After a while. On my iPad it’s now super Slow, Like one letter per second

Anyone think they’ll come out with a macOS version of Music.app that also supports favorites??

Also, somehow I already had a couple albums favorited before I even had iOS 17

Cracks me up how these threads always have themes. This one is the “multilanguage keyboard” thread.

15 ProMax

Charging - Heat

I don’t have the heating issue some talk about but am a bit … concerned.
Whether I charge this device using wireless or using the cable, the back gets a good bit warmer than any other device I have. The back will reach between 95F and 99F and stay there.

For those with the 15PM, what are you getting? Between the WiFi issue and this I am thinking about a store visit (2 hour trip) to get it looked at and possibly replaced.
