Does anyone else notice that apps in the app switcher almost always have to reload when you select it? I only have 7 apps open in the background on average. I remember when I first bought the 14 Pro I noticed an improvement to apps being frozen in RAM compared to my 12 Pro. But now this thing can’t hold on to an app to save its life. It’s been like this for awhile, well before 17.1.
I knew iOS 17 was going to be more RAM hungry, because of features such as interactive widgets, but I didn’t expect that to be noticeable on devices with 6GB of memory…

The problem I can confirm is with the Viber app. First time ever I have problems sharing pictures from inside the app . Some of them go easily and some other load forever and eventually don’t go through. I provided full access, delete and reinstall but after some hours it starts again … maybe it’s the new app version and and new version is on its way … pretty annoying

I can’t find “parked car” anywhere in the settings for maps. Was there in iOS 17.0. ..

Hey - Has anyone else noticed that the keyboard gets truncated in 17.1 ? (I’m using 15 ProMax.)

Unbelievable. iOS 17 was supposed to be a refinement release over iOS 16, with less bugs and a few nice features. And… it is still having unacceptable errors such as this one. What is happening with the Apple software team? I mean, if they need more or better coders, just hire them!

Actually, I had similar expectations, now I see how wrong I was. I still wish I could downgrade back to iOS 15, that was one of the best releases in recent years

I just wish there was a focus on quality of experience over a checklist of new ‘features’. It’s clear how executives are measured and of course compensated…

There was a time when “it just works” meant something.

Oh my. It looks like I am going to be staying on 16.7.2 for a while longer. I usually start to think about making the next X update at X.1 + 7 days, but there's just still too many problems from what it looks like. Apple QC appears to need to step it up.

Unless there is bad publicity or loss of sales due to poor software qa, this cycle of buggy iOS releases will continue 🤷‍♂️

Ain't that the sad truth. If I'm an example, it might be starting to happen though. I used Symbian, Palm OS, and Windows Mobile in the aughts, and have been with Apple for phones since iPhone 4S. A couple of years later, I changed from Windows to MacOS. I've been an Apple loyalist for the better part of a decade. But, I did pre-order a OnePlus Open the other day because Apple is losing its luster. Apple better figure out a way to get back to being on top with their hardware and software game or there will be those sales consequences which you referenced. Chromebook is even looking at adopting continuity/hands-off type features. Who knows, my ~$20k that I hand over to Apple annually for my and my family's electronics purchases may go somewhere else. And I don't think that I'm the only one.

Can someone give me some background-information on what the 'Web' process actually is?
I do have to mention that i have some Safari-based apps like xCloud, and GeForce NOW added to me home screen, could it be a process connected to them?
Can anyone else check if its the same for them on other models? (Mine's a 14 Pro)

There is definitely something amiss.
I am still getting random app freezing. Not any specific app.
Now I am also seeing random; click on a notification and instead of opening the app, it goes to the app then the app crashes. I am not finding a corresponding Analytics entry when this occurs.

On top of this the AirPods warning is back (see attached). When I got this I was wearing them. I fixed this once before by removing and repairing them to the 15PM. Now, it has returned. :(

Like the 15PM hardware wise. IOS 17.1 needs help.

Weird thing. iPhone 14 PM. Some photos, its showing the photos following it on top of the existing photos. Like the old days when you take a photo over the same negatives. Just 4 of them superimposing the images following some photos. Weird. I've rebooted the phone. I haven't done a reset all settings yet. The photos look fine on the Mac and iCloud.com photos. Looks fine on iPad iOS 17. When sharing the photo from the phone it looks normal on iMessage or Mail to send out. It's just how its displayed. When I do a screen shot on the iPhone it doesn't show up. Weird.

Just the iPhone is doing it. So it must be iOS 17 photo bug on iOS 17 for iPhone 14 Pro Max on how its displaying the photos.

since 1 week+, with ios 17.0.3 and 17.1, sometimes when send multiple pictures from inside a sharing app (both watsapp and viber) there is a bug preventing 1 picture going through....subsequently if i select individually this picture to send over, it will never go through and will load forever. All other pictures will go...now from the gallery app all pictures can be shared with all apps....how weird this is? anyone else faced this issue? i ve been using those apps since forever and never had issues...weirdly only with my 14 pro and not with my 12...

thoughts? help?

thank you in advance

I dropped my iPad Pro 11 down to 17.0.3. Left my 15 ProMax on 17.1.

I am seeing accuracy with *touches, Notification (opening app from Notifications) crashes, and app freezes on 17.1.
With the iPad down on 17.0.3, I am seeing an occasional app freeze and crash but not the accuracy or Notification crash issues. 17 has turned into a pita. Hopefully there will be a fix or two in 17.2.

Jumped onto Reddit, Discord, and Apple Discussions so I know I am not the only one. Was hoping to find a fix, but alas.

*For accuracy, great example is to drop onto X or Reddit and click the little arrows, hearts, or comment icons in a post. Frequently it opens the post (or the one below it) instead of what you were trying to do. Don't have this issue on any other devices so I highly suspect it is 17.1 (Nothing 2, ThinkPhone, S23 Ultra). I doubt both the iPad and iPhone have developed hardware issues at the same time.

Apple Music still stutters occasionally when lossless streaming on mobile data. I seem to remember this being an issue since ages ago.

The "Shared With You" in the Photos app still doesn't work properly/as-promised. It just seems to populate at random, with no rhyme or reason to it. And out of those, it's only a fraction of the images I've been sent in iMessage.

I don't really understand why Apple is pushing out features and functions that are seemingly years away from actually being complete and functional.

Absolutely. It’s so useless I’ve disabled it completely. There are so many features they just can’t get working correctly (for me at least): Dictation, auto-punctuation, hand washing, Siri etc etc…

There’s also a bug where a Safari tab just suddenly goes blank with no way to reload it short of killing the app and restarting it.

There’s also a bug where after a few days the iPhone suddenly decides it’s no longer in my home in the middle of the night.
