Has anyone noticed any odd responses from Siri in 17.1? Yesterday afternoon whilst I was cooking, I had some messages come in, and I asked Siri to read new messages and instead of reading them she kept asking, "What would you like to say?" In another instance, when I received a new message and asked her to read it, she'd start, then ask, "Would you like to hear more messages?", and if I replied with, "Yes", she'd ask, "What do you want to say?" I ended up having to manually close the app to get out of the loop.
Siri seems ever dumber than usual for some reason. Yesterday I kept asking her to “play wolf like me by tv on the radio”, and she kept playing random songs from the wolf like me STATION. Took me about 15 attempts trying to phrase it in different ways just to get her to play the SONG instead of the station. So annoying!

Yes. I did too. I asked Siri to read a message to me and she started telling me about some country I’ve never of and then “I can’t show you while you are driving”… I was in the kitchen not the car and did not have driving focus or any focus on. Weird!

Hey, @Banglazed , where do you get the modem firmware version of the iPhone SE3? Is it really at 2.07.03 or do you have that modem software version outdated?

I’m asking because I apparently have the same modem firmware on my SE 3 that’s the iPhone 13 mini, at least on iOS 16.6.1 which is my current version. Maybe my SE3 has an iPhone 13 modem (Qualcomm X60) and not the original Qualcomm X57.

Thank you.

The info may need updating as it is crowdsourced by users on this build but feel free to update the wiki page.

I may start to update the wiki page using the baseband info on https://theapplewiki.com/wiki/Firmware/iPhone/17.x

Quick Question I turned off the live voicemail feature that's new. Is that safe to do? I was aggravated with the screen staying up for a long time.

iOS 17.1 Beta 3 Release Notes

New Features & Changes
New Issues
Remaining Issues
Resolved Issues

Additional Notes

How to install beta via OTA?
  1. Enable Beta Updates (Settings>General>Software Updates>Beta Updates)
  2. Check and sign into the right Apple ID to access beta
  3. Select which beta you would like to receive (Public/Developer)
  4. Hit "Back" and pull down to refresh
  5. Do an encrypted backup or iCloud backup before installing the beta from release build
  6. Install the beta
If you no longer wish to receive beta updates:
  1. Turn off the Beta Updates (you can also sign out of your Apple ID to unlink your developer account)
  2. Wait for the next public release or follow the guide below to install the IPSW release build
Troubleshoot: Sometimes, the beta update will not show so you may need to enable/disable Airplane Mode or restart your device before rechecking for update.

How to install beta via IPSW on Mac?
  1. You will need to install either Xcode beta or MobileDevice.pkg which can be extracted from the Xcode beta (tap with two finger or right click to Show Package Content>Contents>Resources>Packages>MobileDevice.pkg - this will work on older Macs that do not support the latest macOS or Xcode beta)
  2. Do an encrypted backup in Finder in case you need to restore your device
  3. Hold down Option + Check for Update and select the appropriate IPSW file for your device (whether you're updating to a newer/beta firmware, reinstalling the same firmware or downgrading to previous firmware while retaining all your data) downloaded from Apple using your free developer account. Note: You must have an active internet connection as it will check the IPSW signing status before it will proceed with the update.
  4. Enter your iPhone passcode once prompted to proceed.
Notes/Tips:
  • Always keep a backup in case you need to restore your data if you restore your device
  • It may be better to close all apps before installing the updates and/or turn off your device for about a minute or restart a few minutes after your device is updated
  • You can also manually select the IPSW if you are restoring your device using Option + Restore iPhone. Restore will wipe all your personal data which you will need to restore your backup either using iCloud backup or Finder/iTunes backup
  • You do not need to install the MobileDevice.pkg from each Xcode beta version unless Finder does not recognize the new iOS beta
  • There is no MobileDevice.pkg equivalent to iTunes for PC which would require a new iTunes to support new/beta iOS
  • If you receive a new iPhone, you can connect to Mac to update or restore your device to the latest iOS before setting up your device.
  • You can also use the Recovery Mode/DFU to update or restore your device by manually selecting IPSW

Historical beta release chart
Hello, I'm with the French operator Orange, and the version of Orange has been updated from 55.0 to 56.0 (I am running iOS 17.1)

Anyone else with Beats Fit Pro?
One-button mute doesn't work. Still option to toggle ending call with one or two presses.

Has anyone noticed a slight slowness in the Control Center animations since 17.1 ? (I went directly from 16.5.1 to 17.1) I didn't notice any animation issues compared to before except when sliding the brightness bar in control center, it looks more "rough", less smooth.

Not with me - I turned on/off "limit frame rate" on 14 Pro and also did not see any issues.
Which phone do you have?

I have iPhone 14, so, I don't have ProMotion. It's very light but I fell it, maybe a placebo... It's more of a sort of feeling, like, I feel like it's lacking in precision when I move this brightness bar; it's a bit complicated to describe 🧐

Having issues with the keyboard either not displaying correctly or being completely invisible when swiping down to search for an app. So frustrating as i always use this feature. This is on the 14 Pro Max.

Try changing setting for Siri search to off in safari. See off that helps. Had that happen in one 17.1 betas.

I seem to see a lot more bugs for a x.1 release than usual. It's often the battery drain complaint, which is really just attributable to indexing. However, there's a lot of diverse and varied continued concerns with 17.1. Am I off with this or are other people coming to the same conclusion?

The battery seems fine to me, my only problem, as I said a little above, is that pesky unpleasant feeling of lack of precision when you slide the brightness and volume bar in control center. They implemented a new animation that distorts these two bars a bit when you push the brightness and sound to maximum or minimum, and I think that by implementing this new animation (which is pretty cool, ngl), they've screwed something up, it's terrible.

I've bene having weird bugs while watching videos on iOS 17.1 betas and now RC.
When I watch something and I want to, for example lower the volume, the whole system just stops responding for few seconds, sound is still playing but the video stops, can't swipe up, can't do anything. After few seconds it's back to normal but quite annoying.
This is happening with every app that plays videos - instagram, TikTok, photos app, safari and with apps like instagram it's happening while sharing something or even just liking.

Does anyone else notice that apps in the app switcher almost always have to reload when you select it? I only have 7 apps open in the background on average. I remember when I first bought the 14 Pro I noticed an improvement to apps being frozen in RAM compared to my 12 Pro. But now this thing can’t hold on to an app to save its life. It’s been like this for awhile, well before 17.1.
