Is this new? My sister sent me a text with a photo. Siri in CarPlay read it as “…sent an image with a photo attached that’s a red heart with text below it.” It came as an MMS not iMessage if that matters.

This is the image

New to 17.3 (IIRC), not to this beta. Has been mentioned a few times.

People were saying that 17.3 feels smoother than 17.2, but I think it's actually a bit laggier. Maybe it will clear up?

My VPN was off, but I deleted it - we'll see.
I had this problem on 17.2.1 and same with 17.3RC---- if I try to go onto "Best buy" or "Walmart" it either freezes or spins. Turned off the VPN and it works fine. Is this and IOS problem or are these sites choosing to not work with people using a VPN?

I suspect an iOS issue as it works fine earlier releases. I was able to get mine working fine under 17.2 but have issues since. I am playing around with various settings and will post if I find a solution.

Non-working VPN is an issue.
What VPN are you using?

What VPN are you using? IP Vanish
Using IP vanish---I was on Nord VPN until early September and switched because of Apple TV.

Also, I have an MBP 14.2.1 and VPN doesn't work on Best Buy and Walmart using Safari....Maybe it's a Safari problem as well?

EDIT---tried using Brave Browser through a VPN and searched----would not load anything.

EDIT #2----For now, I turned on "Split tunneling" and added Walmart and it works.

From my experience, way too early to tell. Wait for indexing etc. to finish, takes up to about 3 days after installation.
After that - but not before - you can start to judge things like performance, battery life etc.

Using ProtonVPN - iOS is the only place it doesn’t have split. I did have to turn secure core off to get it to work properly - usually. Switching from Wireguard to Smart has helped. Ugh.
Looking at PR (Private Relay) and LIPAT (Limit IP Address Tracking) as they have been issues in the past.

Dramatic? Have you been using an iPhone the last couple of years? Also I bought a 15 pro max on launch day and it broke 3 weeks later as it was defective and so far Apple has refused to replace it or refund my money. Tell me I’m being dramatic when this company stole 1500 dollars from me.
Please provide some clarity on "it broke 3 weeks later.." How exactly did it break? Physical damage? Did you have AppleCare+ ?

Though I haven't had many issues with apple products, when I do, I am always courteous with the people on the other end. It helps...

The weather widget looks a little different to me. Almost like there’s some depth to the lines on the graph.

Waze and Google Maps still aren't playing nicely with CarPlay Split View - Google Maps only shows its icon, and Waze sometimes does not update.
Same for me. Happened the next CarPlay connection after I used Google Maps for directions. Disconnecting the wireless CarPlay connection & reconnecting fixed it (at least for that ride).

I’ve never used VPN. I don’t want all my traffic going through a third party’s servers.
If the VPN provider does not make changes needed for the new iOS then you get these kinds of problems.
They don’t all beta test their apps.

15 ProMax
Messages / Notifications / Forwarding

Worked in beta 3, broken in RC.
Messages are no longer showing up on my AW with the install of RC. No Message Notifications on my AW either. My AW is not on beta.
Forwarding is working from my 15PM to my iPad Pro but not all Messages are showing up. This is true for both iMessage and SMS/MMS.

btw - tried my 15PM on my Ford Sync system - Google Maps doesn’t properly display.

Hoping for an RC2. 😕

I'm still on 17.2.1 but I can successfully open and use the Best Buy app while running NordVPN. (In case you meant the websites for BB or Walmart, I tried them too while running the VPN, no problem here.) If things change after I update to 17.3, I'll report back. Meantime, I'm sorry you're having this problem and I hope it resolves soon.

Music widget consistently stuck on one particular track until I bring down control centre to carry on playing music. But then updates momentarily.

Apple Watch hand washing reminders (not to be confused with timer) still screwed after three years

Still completely random capitalisation using dictation. And of course dictation is still a cluster ****

Apple Music still an abortion. Randomly stops on all devices, on all networks including cellular.

Siri, still the biggest joke ever created, and continuously gets worse every year.

Wifi Calling isn’t working for me like I am normally using my iPhone on airplane mode with only WiFi enabled when I am at home but it doesn’t switch to WiFi calling. Already deactivated and rebooted a few times

Unfortunately non of this is changing till Cook goes

@mikelets456

For my 15PM, using ProtonVPN, I turned secure core off, no tunneling (not allowed on iOS), Private Relay off, change Wireguard to Smart, did a hard reboot, put in Airplane Mode, started VPN, turned off AP mode, all now appears to be working correctly. LIPAT on the cell side seemed to have no effect.

Once it was working, a reboot (VPN is auto on) and all still works.

Will play around a bit more as I prefer Wireguard instead of Smart.

Bummer is your average user who has these issues is just going to turn VPN off.

I have to say, you might be right.

In my opinion, the only thing Apple are now interested in is profit. I know their job is to make profit before anybody starts, but it is now undeniable that their software is nothing like it used to be in terms of reliability. I am also aware, again before anyone starts, that it does a lot more than it has ever done. However, some of these bugs Are unacceptable and have existed for years. The resources Apple have, it is inexcusable.

And yes, this supposed improved dictation added the capital A in ‘Are’ above!

To be somewhat more on-topic and positive: the overall experience is very smooth and battery life is pretty good.

Yes. I am sure Tim Cook is the mastermind behind all of the deficiencies in iOS.

I’m sure none of this has anything to do with millions of lines of code of an extremely complex operating system in an increasingly complex ecosystem.

And before everybody starts calling me some unrepentant Apple fanboi, I would say the same thing about Microsoft and Android. These operating systems are infinitely more complex than they were even 10 years ago. Yes, there is undue pressure to add new features for competitive reasons, but the software is still extremely difficult to maintain
