Man, I just got a new iPhone 15 Pro Max yesterday and the battery is mediocre at best. Not sure if it's normal that things are still indexing one day later.

From 7am - Noon, it's already at 51%. I have AOD turned off and I don't even use social media. All I'm using are podcasts.

TBH, my 13 Mini had similar battery life. Not sure if I got a lemon on this 15 PM.

In the first week or so the phone is setting up things in the background therefore the battery maybe quite disappointing but after the about one week it should all be set up and then you can really measure the battery life on your phone

Unfortunately iPhone 15 (all series) + iOS 17 will never be a good combination.

Update to 17.4 this afternoon and started from a full charge it so far looks good, on par with 17.3.1 which has been great. 13pro256gb.
I use no social media apps such as X (known to drain) but am a heavy Signal and Spotify user. 50/50 cellular/wifi user.
Pushed it out today to my testcrowd of a 100 people at work, will see what they get back with (mostly iPhone14).

I normally have to charge my 15 Pro at least once a day to get it back up to 80%.

After 17.4, that's increased to twice a day.

No social media. No music streaming. Occasional mail checking. Various other notifications but no significant app usage.

😐

Crazy hours. I'm on a 15PM and after 3 months of usage, I'm still only getting 6-8hrs of SOT for 100% of battery. I have no idea what is draining it although Home & Lock screen is taking up a large percentage (approx 10-15%). I'm worried I got a lemon :(
6-8h SOT on Wifi or mobile data? Last few weeks my iPhone can't get more than 4h on mobile data. Absolutely terrible experience. Here is an example how it drains battery with full 4/4 bars LTE/4G signal. You can also see that before that part draining was bigger than smaller but I was in WiFi range. What is going on? Every single update is like a new experience. Mostly awful. I talked to Apple. They did few tests (everything was ok) and I asked about further check. They said ok but you have to update your phone because higher level of specialists will refuse to do anything. Unfortunately the same day Apple released 17.4 and I am worried that battery will be so bad on it. Especially because Apple is focused on EU changes (In fact I am in EU).
I am wondering that maybe there is a part of iPhones 15 (all models) that are faulty but Apple can't see it or doesn't want to talk about it. Maybe there are some parts inside which are different (you know like different producer of this part). It may cause different battery experience.
Anyway. This is first time in more than 10 years when I really feel that something is not right and I am furious about that. Even infamous butterfly keyboard (which Apple repaired and than exchange for me) didn't bother me like this

P.S. What's even worse there is no clear evidence that this or that app drains more than it should. Nothing. I told that to Apple and that's why they did all these tests. Maybe there are some background bugs which we can't see.

It really depends a lot on your kind of usage and on the kind of cell coverage you spend your time at (even if you're using wifi). Me as well as 3 of my friends get the same kind of experience you are getting with the 15PM (6-8 hours of SOT for 100% battery), way less if using it in the sun and/or taking a lot of pictures (which is expected).

So no, we can't have all gotten lemons. That's just how it is. And I suspect those people who get crazy high amounts of SOT spend a lot of hours in phone calls. With that you can artificially get way higher SOT values. I have tried that myself: I called another cell phone of mine and let it sit there for 3 hours. Lo and behold, I got 11 hours of SOT. The thing is, I usually make 0 minutes of phone calls a day (I could uninstall the phone app as far as I'm concerned 😂). Therefore my SOT values are way lower, as my phone usage is actual app usage with the screen on (as opposed to phone calls where the screen is off).

I hate when people say things like that. It looks like you treat us like kids or you think that it is our first ever phone. No it is not. Most of us have same habits same environment same data/mobile provider. I had 13 mini before. Sometimes I had to charge it at 7/8 pm but only if I use it a lot. Now my 15 pro end a day with 20-30% even if I barely use it. Mini could get 40-50%. That's the obvious difference and don't tell me it is not.
You said that you can get 11h SOT because of calling. Well I tell you something. I guess If I try do the same thing my 15 pro on mobile data (even full signal) can't get half of this. Moreover. I can make a phone call on wifi calling. Still no chance to get 11h so don't tell me and other users we are stupid.
Do you have good SOT and nice battery life? Kudos. You are a chosen one.

My iPhone 11 seems better since 17.4. Took it off charge at 7am Wednesday at 100%. It’s now 2pm Thursday and it’s still at 35%

Huh? Chill down a bit, man 😉 what the heck? The point I was making was actually precisely the same one you are making: battery life of the 15PM is quite bad compared to most previous phones I owned. 6-8h SOT for a "Pro Max" sized phone is bad! I don't like it either. I was just trying to explain how people who get higher SOT values likely do it (by making a lot of phone calls).

On my 13PM I would easily get 10h SOT without any phone calls. It was way way WAY better than the 15PM. My partner's 13 mini gets the same SOT I get. It can't be right. But hey, I can't change it.

My point, once again: we didn't get lemons. That's just how bad the 15PM's battery life is.

Since IOS 16 I have had mixed results on battery life...15 PM on 17.4 is acceptable for the amount I use it. It's seems if I'm off WiFi for awhile it drains faster.

On my iPhone 12 I would spend 20 minutes in the AM doing emails (down to 99%) and then go for a walk and would be at 96% when I got back. On my 15 PM the same routine and I'm on 100% when I leave and when I get back.

Hi, guys. 👋 My iPhone 14 Pro is losing 1% of battery every couple of minutes or so after the latest iOS 14. Before the update about 40% of battery would get me through the whole day of light use but now it’s like I’m losing the same 40% in an hour or so. I tried the hard reset and restored everything from iCloud update but no change, the issue is still there.
Also, the phone is getting hot (this never happened before) as if there’s a process running which the OS can’t kill or something.

I’ve read online a lot of people reporting battery drain problems after the latest iOS 17.4 update but couldn’t find any information about how to solve this.

🔋 Battery health is at 97%.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Latest iOS 17.4 on my iPhone 13 Pro Max - I unplugged the phone at 5:14 am, it's 4pm and I'm down to 32% with 3h23min SOT (around 1h of SOT was on wifi, the rest only LTE with full coverage almost all the time, screen brightness never went above 50%).
