Using the latest 17.4 RC i had a lot more background activity, as you can see in the picture. After updating to 17.4 final, this activity is gone. Battery life is very good on new iPhone 12 Pro from September 2023.

15 Pro on 17.4. A lot better after a few days of the install, settled down & overnight battery drain has improved a lot.
It could be better (much much better) knowing that you are using a new phone .. my "old" 13PM works like this after 2 years .. poor update in my opinion bro

Oh yeah 💯 it could be better! 😁 the 13PM does have a lot bigger battery mah than the 15 pro, so would expect it to be better despite being “old” lol. Let’s hope Apple actually listens because there are many users of the newest 15 series reporting poor battery life. This is unacceptable imo.

Screen time on my 15 pro.

6h30min SOT with 50% battery left?
WOW.. my 13PM COULD NEVER on iOS 17 🤡 There are times I'm not even getting 6h SOT from a full charge. I have to remember to bring a powerbank and a cable with me every time I go out.
This is the first time I'm sick of apple, of this update and this big, heavy phone that can't make it through the day because of one update that decided to magically reduce my battery life by half.

Exactly. Charts showed above are insane. With 6h and 50% left you can’t say it doesn’t last whole day. I have 6h on full charge and on WiFi. On mobile data maybe 3h. I checked my wife’s 14 plus and she has same problem but she doesn’t see that because of bigger battery. Clearly iOS 17 issue but…no clear answer how to fix it. Apple and some people will say „erase your phone or reset some settings”. Well sounds good until you realize that you’ve erased your phone 4 times (2-3 on same iOS version) and it always ends in same way. At the beginning looks good. I would say really really good. After few weeks awful results are back. Why? I have no idea. I guess some background activities I can’t see in battery chart. That’s why I asked Apple to check logs. Maybe they will find something.

Even more than 9h of sot. Maybe you are the chosen one. You should be happy. I also could get same results but after few weeks problem comes back. Why? I have no idea. I will keep my phone today on lte only after I reset network settings. I want to check if it helps or not.

I don't think there is a "chosen" one, @kristof461.

I think it's just iOS 17.4 (and 17.3, 17.2,17.1...and so on). I barely touched my phone in the past 24hrs, maybe 46min of screentime and it went from 100% down to currently 65%. I've not made any calls, conntected to Vodafone 4G (LTE), had about 4hrs Roaming in another Vodafone Network... it's just what it is. Everyone us using their phone in another way, has different apps installed, have a different consumption. I'm on a iPhone 15 Plus and still having a drain. I've reset the phone, installed a fresh iOS, reset network settings- still, the drain is there. And it always will be. It's not okay for such an expensive phone. But even if you look onto the dark side (Android) People are complaining about battery drain- doesn't matter which brands. Nowadays we've small computers in our pockets, with the ability to make calls. Not a Nokia 3310 with 3 Weeks of battery life and snake.

I would love to know if Tim Cook is also facing such a battery drain on his iPhone?

That’s not a secret. I don’t use 5g too and can’t get same results. What problems? I’ve written everything. If you don’t believe me well I can’t do anything with that.

I believe that we are all different,,I didn't say I don't believe you ..I just want to say that I always believed that new phones have an advantage over old ones, you count the cycles, battery health but it is never an indicator..its iphone marketing planes..

How how you can compare lost of 35% after 24h while people have same during 12h or more. I can’t stand when people trying to defend Apple and talk about consumption apps etc. So you don’t believe users and their opinions. I said about 9-10h on WiFi and after weeks only 6h. I don’t use any special apps. Same thing over and over. The difference should be minimal while it is huge.

You try to defend Apple or doing some different thing while you have 9h with still 25% left. I can get 6h on WiFi using Safari only. Few weeks ago it was 9h. Moreover more and more people say that their old phones are better. If you believe that new phones always have advantages well…don’t stop believing

When did i wrote i don't believe you @kristof461? When did @Tomas1988 wrote that?

We're just sharing our opinions, trying to help with suggestions and giving comments to think about. No one of us is defending Apple. Why should we do that? What would be the point?

You're not the only one in this thread having issues with their batteries. We all have issues with our batteries. Some more. Some less. And it's still a personal feeling if the battery drains faster or slower.

What do you expect from us? We read your comments, we gave tipps. We can't do a magic healing, we can't re-develop iOS 17.4. All we can do is answer.

Of course i can compare my loss of 35% with yours- both phones drain, am I right? So no one of us is a Winner.

And still, i don't know why your phone is behaving like you describe. Mine has an drain too- that's seems to be normal on 17.4.

And sure, older phones might work better with iOS 17.4. But maybe they work better because of the fact that the software is automatically throttled down, because hardware is missing in the old phones? Hardware which is adressed in newer phones? I don't know, i'm not an engineer- so it's a lucky guess.

In the end, it's widely known that a new iOS Update might have a hit on the battery. That's basically happening since the dawn of iOS 10 maybe? At least there are many postings in forums about getting a hit in battery life, even in earlier versions of iOS. So it's a common thing happening. And so many people went to Apple with this issue- and all come back with the same answers. And those will be posted here, again and again.

So again: No one is defending Apple. We're a community here. We're here to help and support each other.

100% to 65% in 24 hours with 46 min of SOT? On the original iOS version? And I thought that as my iPhone Xʀ on iOS 12 is far worse than iOS 10 and earlier versions used to be then it’s quite poor... that’s abhorrent.

My 15PM goes down 1 or 2% overnight. But I always have stuff (like push emails) running in the background.

It is, but tue battery stats look "fine" so far. I was thinking maybe it's the Network (Vodafone), maybe it uses more power? Or it's the use of an eSim? Could be everything at this point. But if you show up in an Apple Store to talk about the battery... you know the drill :)

Hahah right opinion. And who is saying that? Someone who has 9h sot and still 20/25% left. Really? I could get only 6h on WiFi but you can’t understand that. It's easy trying to find solution when in face you don't need to find anything because your result is really good. I don’t get it why you don’t understand that
Everyone can complain. If I understand it you are not happy because 14 pro had better battery life. Got it. Still your 9h is way better than 6h. Huge difference

I’m using the 80% limit & iOS decided it was time to do a 100% charge on my 15 Pro this morning. Here’s how the battery has done today down to 50% this evening. 17.4

Stay where you are

On Friday I reset network settings. Unfortunately I didn't any difference. Even my wifi connection wasn't lost. I thought it should be. Anyway. Late evening on Saturday I performed "reset all settings". Still it is not a perfect solution because this time you lose connection to wifi all settings and Apple Pay cards. Some features don't work until you turn it off and on again like auto fill passwords. Whole Sunday I was using my phone only on LTE (3 bars out of 4). Draining when not using was satisfying. I think it gives me 5-5,5h SoT on LTE 3/4 bars. That's ok. Not perfect but could be worse. Today I try normal thing. Mostly Wifi etc. I left home for a while (1h) and immediately lost 2%. But first thing is Tesla. Second thing is that phone has to connect to the network. So every time it switches from Wifi to LTE/4G/5G whatever it takes a bit more energy. Moreover I spent 30 minutes in 1 bar lte area.
Interesting thing about mentioned Tesla. First time ever I can’t see this app in battery chart. Previously it took 2-3% every time I was getting into the car. At the end of a day Tesla was way down on the list but I think it triggered some additional network connection which wasn’t counted as Tesla.
Anyway. It looks like “reset all settings” helped. How long will it last? No idea. As mentioned before. I saw great results after clean install and way worse after few weeks. As I said before. Still reseting all settings is not a perfect solution. Especially if you want to that after every single update.

P.S. One more reflection. I am afraid every time I have to turn off and on my iPhone or restart it. Why? Because I think that every single time I do that battery behave differently. Sounds weird I know but that's what I think. Unfortunately last iOS version are too buggy to not doing it. Today I had to do this because...iPhone didn't want to charge via usb-c cable.

Last week on 17.3 I’d take my iPhone 11 off charge at 7am. By 10 it would be down to 80. Today on 17.4 it’s at 80% at 3:30pm. Hopefully this stays the same
