So, basically, your advice would be not to install any software updates, missing on all the new features, bug fixes and security updates? 🤷🏻♂️ I would rather plug my iPhone in every now and again…
Within the last 13-14 years of owning an iPhone. I’ve never received such stats as Apple quotes on their homepage. Obtaining these battery stats is nearly impossible.
Maybe airplane mode, 25% brightness & streaming a downloaded 720p video 🤣Within the last 13-14 years of owning an iPhone. I’ve never received such stats as Apple quotes on their homepage. Obtaining these battery stats is nearly impossible.
I suspect it means: 1) A brand new phone, 2) Turning off everything on it besides the 1 app you use to say listen to you audio on device. No Wi-Fi, no Bluetooth, no cell service, no always on display, everything off other than that one on device app. I would bet you could get those numbers or better, but you’d have to totally gimp your iPhone. 😉
Regarding the video: Running a beta on your iPhone means that Apple is constantly running background processes (Running your battery down) and turning off the always on display on your iPhones and Apple Watches really help to extend battery life (Do you honestly need them, especially if you have an Apple Watch?). Sure it may be less fun, but for me knowing my battery will be there for me when I need it is more important/less stressful. 🤷Reflecting back on the battery life of an iPhone.
Let your battery run out and leave it with no charge for a few day, maybe a week. That should do it! 👍🏻My battery health drained from 87% to 81% since beta 1, and it's been stuck on 81% for a couple weeks. They don't want me to get a free battery replacement lol
Yeah I usually plug it in once it goes below 40%, that's probably really good for battery health. I'll let it drain lolLet your battery run out and leave it with no charge for a few day, maybe a week. That should do it! 👍🏻
Optimized battery charging finally started working again on the first night on beta 5. It never worked under betas 3 and 4.Forgot to mention that optimized battery charging never worked a single time for me during beta 3, while it was fine during beta 1 and 2.
Looking forward to the new beta this week.
Battery usage on any beta will always be much worse than the release software. On a beta Apple is running lots of background processes that are removed when it’s released to the public. 👍🏻Any reports on battery usage of beta 5 on a 14 Pro Max? I'm tempted to jump the gun but I wonder how battery life is by now. How many hours are you getting out of it? And how much worse is it than 16.6?
It sucks. I don’t know why I punish myself installing these betasAny reports on battery usage of beta 5 on a 14 Pro Max? I'm tempted to jump the gun but I wonder how battery life is by now. How many hours are you getting out of it? And how much worse is it than 16.6?
I did public betas for 5 years for FOMO, but doing all the reporting is a lot of work. That and putting up with features not working, battery drain, I finally stopped. I’m now happy to wait for the public release software, which I install right away. It suits me at this point in my life. 😉It sucks. I don’t know why I punish myself installing these betas

I’m guessing that all the new features (which are a lot for an iPhone software update) is the difference between betas for iOS 17 vs 16… 😉I am well aware of that. The thing is, I was on the iOS 16 betas and they were really great, as far as battery usage is concerned. I am asking because I'm hearing reports that iOS 17 betas seem to be much worse than other betas.
A bit of additional usage because of logging and background processes is expected. A massive impact (as in "I can't reach the end of the day with a single charge on a Pro Max") is quite unheard of in betas before iOS 17.
How could possibly remember the battery usage of betas you ran a year ago for sure?I am well aware of that.
