Hello everybody.
Have you noticed when switching from IOS 16 to IOS 17, a loss of several tens of GB of your storage space on your iphone? On my iphone I lost nearly 30 GB. On my two ipads same problem, and I have a friend who noticed the same thing.
I see everyone installed fresh from IPSW then 😂

I believe the developer beta access was either a human error or a glitch in their software. But once it was open, they had no way back. The rollout was not designed to go this way.

Evidence of this is that there would be no reason to send out the Appleseed invites to people if everyone would get free admission anyway.

As I said a few posts up, 17.0 is a pretty light update, relatively speaking. The fact that those of us on the iOS 16.6 beta got incremental vs. full updates to get 17 shows that. So 17 is more of a feature-rich 16.7 than a typical major release.

I wouldn’t count on this happening again. The lightness of 17 is almost certainly due to the resources diverted to get the Vision Pro out the door.
Feels like they messed up and then decided to include iOS in the public developer accounts.

There will be many complaints from users who followed 'online instructions' on YouTube or from Twitter to get developer access which has lead to their handsets being unstable or buggy.

I wonder how long it'll stay that way before they roll back.

So anyone using the reminders as a shared list with an iOS 16.5 device? More specifically the grocery list with new categories. Wondering how (or if) that will work.

I honestly don't think Apple cares for that. The public beta almost always has the same releases as dev other than for about a month of the year in June to early July, and having more testers is beneficial to them. If Apple really wants to restrict something they're very capable, like the way it's pretty much impossible to downgrade to an older official version. Yet unfinished beta versions have numerous methods of access both official and unofficial.

I think his point was that they couldn’t limit it and it was too late to change, so they spit out what you shared last minute. And by “last minute” I mean it could have happened in the last 7-90 days and still be too big to “fix” so they’re just letting it ride.
Hmm then why create the whole new options for different levels of dev access? I mean they could have just kept it quite and low key. There already was a free version of dev acct that had some stuff just not OS downloads. Its never too late for Apple to decide to allow downloads or not. Have seen them pull an update moments after release due to various circumstances. They have been working on this new toggle for a while now so I ain't buying they HAD to go with it cause they can't fix it. Sorry. (Of course my opinion only :) )

[edit] however I do agree with this statement though:

“The fact that those of us on the iOS 16.6 beta got incremental vs. full updates to get 17 shows that. So 17 is more of a feature-rich 16.7 than a typical major release.”

I wish there was a way to dismiss this for good. It’s available in the url bar menu if we ever need it again.

Finished my meetings for the day and now playing around with Sonoma and iOS17.

Have been waiting for years for cross fade in Music and can’t get to it without crashing out of Settings app.

I got into the Music settings and when I selected cross fade to activate, I crashed out of the app.

Now I can’t even get that far…just trying to get into Music settings crashes me back out. Oh well…tried hard restart, but maybe time to try again.

Or…. Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.

This has been written about a few times.

You enabled cross-fade, so you're done. If for some reason you really need to go back into Music settings, then you'll need to do a "reset all settings" (which of course resets every setting). What do you still need to change? Just wait a few weeks for the next beta to drop.

Anyone got tvOS 17 running?
Do all the main cant live without apps like, Netflix, Disney, YouTube work ok ?

My life wont be worth living if
1. My 1 and half year old cant watch Cars on Disney.
2. My wife cant watch her documentaries on Netflix.
I want to know too :)

Good questions. I’ve never run beta in my TV but being able to FaceTime has sparked my interest. I’m in the same boat as the PearMan though. If something breaks, someone will break me. Lol

Just tried to “mark up” a screenshot…woof.

Assuming that section will be tweaked over the course of the beta life, but can anyone figure out how to simply put a red square or rectangle around something?

Dang! A year and a half already! Wow. Seems like only a few iOS betas ago LOL.

I’ve actually gained 2 GB of storage, didn’t lose any as others have posted. Maybe 17 is a couple gigs smaller than 16 was.Win!

You weren’t kidding. I finally got it working but definitely very unintuitive compared to before. The border and fill opacity controls are all over the place.

Different that’s for sure. Tap the + to choose a shape. Tap on the dot all the way to the left and choose the color you want the tap the circle 2nd from the right and set opacity to zero.

Yeah I spent like 20 minutes messing with it before giving up and just using my finger to draw the square. I mean, that works, but I really hope they bring back the simpler way to add shapes.
