Not a fan of that layout either, but if we all leave feedback about this, they might update it. The font should be smaller to start with. It doesn't need to be that big.

One thing you might try is turning on “Predictive”

English (US) language is the only one selected.
I have enabled it and it doesn’t add those new settings and keyboard looks like this.

I don’t have the English section under the “.” Shortcut.
Oh hold on, I’m guessing you have more than one language keyboard added?
Like I just have the All Keyboards settings, not separate settings per language.

I’d try a hard restart to see if that clicks things in then. Otherwise, we may just have to chalk this up as one of those inexplicable beta issues. Hate when it happens though, especially on a desirable feature.
There's no settings for the new keyboard stuff as far as I know, I'm in the UK and I've had sentence completion working and words being underlined in blue to be offered other suggested words. All seems to be working fine here.
This is why I opted not to install until the 2nd or 3rd beta when it get resolved. Same thing happened last year with iOS 16, and I installed it I think after the 3rd beta

Finishes the word in grey or underlines a change of word in blue for a sentence. To be honest I hardly realise it’s changing my sentences.
My settings are the same as yours, and I have predicted off. I hate the big grey panel of words popping up, distracting.
Done a full clean new install.
My 14 Pro is smooth as butter now.

Have you been able to control the volume on your HomePod on 17 from the Music app on your phone? I have a HomePod mini stereo pair set up and the volume slider on the phone is blank, and when I try and drag to turn the volume up the volume level on the HomePods jumps all over the place. Definitely buggy, and I reported it via the Feedback app.
Guess those who are having issues with SMS in messages ARE getting the messages to go through but just getting the annoying "! Failed" briefly? So far I seem to be getting them to go through but have had several of those failed messages for a few moments. Seems going out and back in clears the message. I suppose as long as its actually going through its not quite as big a deal.
Also seems several reports of things just stop working (standby dim/red for me) and a few others but a reboot seems to resolve. So a reboot or two a day may be warranted for a few weeks. Otherwise things seem to be pretty decent overall.

With prediction on - yes
When it’s off you just get the red line for spellings and the blue one for smart punctuation.
I don’t know where this is going.
You have that link to how to set up a dev account, follow that word for word, and I was suggesting you try an email address as your Apple ID when creating a dev account instead of just numbers like you did that failed.

I will be honest with you: given the questions you are asking, it might be better for you to wait until the public beta is released.
I thought the same thing, I like how it works, but the icons look like some 90’s-2000’s era Microsoft clip art.
