Have you guys been using this feature? I've been getting back-to-back pop-up banners. It's kinda hard to get used to this. 🤨

True, I’ve been getting them more often than I expected, too. But I only hold my iPhone normally, like anyone else. So does that mean everyone is holding it too close?

I’ve started to toggle it off sometimes, especially when I need to focus on something without popups. On the other hand, it’s probably good for our eye health to turn it on. 🤷‍♂️

Anyone notice highlighting a lot of text at once in Pages or MS Word slows the whole app down? Happens with both my iPhone 14 Pro and M1 iPad Pro.

However, if I copy that same text to an email or something, it won’t slow that app down.

Edit: Tested MS Word again. It’s not as bad as I thought it was there. Pages is still pretty much unusable though.

Seen this for a while especially in the Apple office apps. I just checked and it is worse, or seems to be, under 17.

My understanding is that the message still gets sent, it just gets erroneously flagged as undelivered.
Maybe this was mentioned but I didn't see it. Message Forwarding is only half working. SMSes sent to you get forwarded but the ones you send don't. I filed a defect and the answer was yes, we know, but we don't have enough information. Umm what?

If it doesn’t work, there’s a special way to restore to 16 that won’t wipe your data. I haven’t done it in a few years but there’s YouTube videos on it. I remember it being straightforward as long as you down the right IPSW file for your phone
Installed on my 13 Pro Max.

I can’t edit contacts posters other than myself. It’s the normal behavior?

Also, at least here in Spain, I keep seeing Hey Siri instead of Siri in settings.
The Siri thing happens in Spanish. How's your battery? I'm not doing well, it's the only thing that complicates me.

Put the beta on my iPhone 13. Had the initial battery drain issue but that's settled down now. The biggest problem I've had so far is with the microphone and speakers not working for phone calls and recording video. Calls seem to work through my AirPods but there is no sound on the phone. Pretty sure this wasn't an issue before installing the iOS 17 beta and I haven't experienced this issue on previous betas but I understand that's the chance you take. Roll on beta 2.
How long did you have problems with the battery? This is my second day and my battery is bad...

The problem with the battery on my phone seemed to be coming from the mail app constantly running in the background. It was also using a large amount of my mobile data. Restricting the app to wifi only has vastly improved my battery life.

Same on my iPad. Mail app is closed, no mail widget and I lost over 50% battery on my iPad that I did not touch once in the last 48 hours.

Now that I wrote this, I’ll try turning off push and setting the refresh to hourly to see if it does anything

I’m once again having the issue where my phone will get very warm and drain battery unless low power mode is turned on. I already hard reset it, and it still didn’t fix itself. Guess I’ll just have to wait it out like last time.

What iPhone do you have? This is my third day with the beta on my 13PM, starting the day at 100%. Until yesterday the battery sucked, I'll see how it behaves today. There is no suspicious application. How are you doing with the battery?

That’s good it’s improving for you. 14PM. I’m getting like half the battery life I was getting on iOS 16.6. Yesterday I went to bed with around 45% battery left and 2.5 hours of screen on time. Once in a while I get this bug where phone gets warm and battery drains super fast unless low power mode is on, but that hasn’t been the norm of my everyday iOS 17 usage.

Me too. The battery lasts half as long as it lasted in iOS 16.5, so I guess it's normal. Will you wait for beta 2? I'm hesitating whether to come back or wait... have a great one!

If I can go back, I will go for stable version, but I can't go back with watchOS 😞.

I toyed around with restoring my phone and going back to iOS 16 but once I connected my iPhone to my Mac I was told that software was needed to be downloaded to recognize my phone. The download was attempted but then came back with an error saying the software could not be found on the server.

So, I am stuck with the iOS 17 beta, which isn't the worst place to be as it has been working fine. I am going on vacation and having to rely on my iPhone, I was afraid of what issues might occur.

I had that error message, but it seems it flags that erroneously, as it then worked for me.

Just click on and carry on with the process.

Thank you for this. It won't let me continue.

I may be missing a crucial step. Should I erase my iPhone before attempting a backup reinstall?

I do have an archived backup of 16.5 on my Mac

Thanks, you too! I’m not sure. I’m really noticing very few differences on iOS 17, so I’m assuming it’ll be easy to switch back without missing anything. It’ll be nice to have good battery life again and to not be running my battery health % down more quickly. But I guess my main concern (which I should’ve figured out before) is if I downgrade, do i lose my text messages I’ve sent since upgrading to iOS 17? I would think not since they’re backed up via iCloud messages, but I’m not sure how that works if I revert to a backup from iOS 16.
