iOS 17 Beta 2 ― Bug Fixes, Changes, and Improvements

At some point a couple days ago, I changed my wallpaper and all objects on my lock screen began to constantly flash in and out. It was like an arcade game. I had to reboot to stop it.

It all sounds related. I wonder what under-the-hood change is causing these bugs.

Yeah. I had to report the flashing widgets as well.

I really love the way the stars move and sparkle in the Weather app. Makes me feel like I’m in a Prince of Persia game. ✨

I think the Moon is also rotating but not sure. There’s also an occasional shooting star but I think that may have been in iOS 16, too.

I think that Apple got sick and tired of @TheYayAreaLiving 🎗️ and I complaining about how much we hated Apple taking away our favorite weather app and replacing it with the new one, so they added this new weather app Home Screen to make us happy so that we would shut up. Funny thing it has seemed to work.

Had a weird ‘bug’ (?) pop up for me today after no issues previously. I always use a long press to get the shortcuts to pop up for the App Store. This is how I get to the Update section of the App Store.

Starting today, there are no shortcut options for the App Store. They still work for other apps (Music, Instagram, Reddit, etc), but not the App Store. I’ve tried restarting but no change.

Phone: iPhone 14 Pro, iOS 17 DB2

Assuming I understand the functionality you are describing, this still works for me. 14 pro max on b2. Screenshot attached.

Did not read all 30 pages but has anyone else have trouble trying to deposit or withdraw from their Apple savings account? Wanted to deposit some money and the screen where you type the amount just does not register any typing. Weird. I assume it’s a bug related to this last beta update?

OK so this doesn’t go here and belongs in Sonoma defects but I thought I’d share anyway. I got a chuckle out of it.

My defect report said: Mail displays I have 18,446,744,073,709,551,555 messages. In actuality, I have slightly fewer. 😁

That’s 18.4 quintillion emails! 😂

Yes, and there is a work around. The search tool is your friend.

All you need to do is either read the last two pages or use a search function for the term "savings" and you'd have found your answer and a workaround.

Yea, the options are back today. They weren't there yesterday.

All you need to do is either read the last two pages or use a search function for the term "savings" and you'd have found your answer and a workaround.

It always baffles me that people are too lazy to use the search function, which would have been quicker than writing a post like that person did! 😳 users should be penalised for not attempting to search first.

The one bug that I’ve run into on iPadOS 17 is the HDR bug. I hope the next beta fixes that, I’m sure it probably will. I’m also interested in seeing if they make any new tweaks to the Settings app and Files app! 👍🏻

Apart from that annoying HDR bug that's screwing up websites, the odd app and email on the iPhone/iPad B2 has been great overall. Really hope B3 fixes the HDR issue as its a pretty bad one. I know its a beta but it's surprising how such a really obvious bug would make it into the beta.

I just noticed, when you have pride wallpaper set the alarm turns the Lock Screen into rainbow colors as well.

It seems maybe this beta recalibrated the battery health? It went from 87% to 85% for me.

It’s lowered to 83% in the 9 days since this post. It’s in free-fall right now.

Looks like something is up with this. Other than testing my 13PM sits in a drawer.

It would make sense if it was recalibrated. Mine was stuck at 87% for like an entire year, doesn’t make much sense.

Can I get an ETA on when I can expect my wallpapers to be back?

I ended up restoring to 16.6 beta and then DFU-ing back to 17 b2 now I feel abandoned without wallpapers and widgets.

Same here, was at 100% since October, b1 dropped it to 99% and has been dropping every reboot since. At 96% now on b2.
