Looking forward to beta 4 because:

• iPhone gets hot when using maps and coming off at a service station to grab a snack. Normally I wouldn’t quit the journey, just mute it, grab a coffee and then carry on.

• Can’t pin point it but editing a wallpaper or moving about in settings in privacy and location settings, phone heats up.

• On occasions a hard restart has deleted apps, same three every time. Hard restart doesn’t fix. You tube, Apple Store and EBay - this one is bonkers strange.

Reinstalled the beta twice. Never had this many bugs. Only difference is this time round on iOS 17 I’ve gone OTA exclusively.

“Calling Dr. Craig Federighi! Calling Dr. Federighi!”

Anyone else struggling with Maps locating you?
Just can’t seem to locate me, on iOS or when I’m using CarPlay too..

Thought it’d get better in beta 2, or even b3. For me, seems that b1 was the most stable. Especially with the Public Beta being out now.

The Maps bug is super frustrating! - But hey ho.. these are the risks we take!
Yeah I was getting that. I deleted my saved maps and it seems to have fixed it.

Never realized how many times I used Spotlight search to open apps on a daily basis until this stupid 3-week long beta broke it.

That’s my primary way to open apps that aren’t in the Siri suggestion widget. It’s been working on and off for me. But annoying when it doesn’t for sure.

It’s to close to the next beta, but have you tried just reinstalling the beta? Maybe an idea for next time.

Not sure of your set up but if you have a Mac and the IPSW file for the beta your on… just plug your phone in, open finder, encrypted back up, then, hold down the option button, this will then let you select the IPSW file for reinstalling.

Finder will JUST reinstall the beta/ios. Your data, photos, etc won’t be touched - It behaves exactly like how an OTA update would, without the over the air part obvs. There’s something about the reinstalling the of files method, which just seems to clear up quite a few issues/bugs.

Worked a treat for me last night in fact. I’d had some weird, random behaviour, causing over heating issues.

DM me if you need more info to save everyone from listening to all this again. 👍🏼

Just out of curiosity, are there IPSW files available for public beta testers as well, if needed?

Thank you very much! I‘ve seen some of you mentioning this in the thread but take the time to think about the method much. Knowing that it wouldn’t affect my data at all is a huge upside. I might give it a shot today and if not today, then the next time I have issues with a beta. Is there a trusted place to get the ISPW files? Thanks again!

For developer builds you can login to a free dev account and download the IPSW files.

For Public, it’s relying on google I'm afraid.

I installed all the public betas before and Teams app worked flawlessly

That maybe because before now, your company hadn’t set the beta to not be an acceptable version of iOS to run.

Basically it seems server side with your companies IT department, from what I can tell.

I think Apple accidentally uploaded the wrong file for beta 3 on the iPhone 12 Pro Max because I’m trying to restore to that, and Finder keeps saying the firmware is not compatible.

All of a sudden the Home app is not recognizing my thermostat. And I still can’t view the history for my door lock.

A very appropriate pic as this beta is a bit of a dog by the sounds of the comments.

On a slightly brighter note though, the 16.6 final release that dropped yesterday feels very ‘finished’ with good battery life etc for anyone fancying a downgrade. Today could be ‘new beta day’ though so maybe tough it out for a few more hours I guess.

Really looking forward to seeing how the new drop works out for everyone 🤞🏻
