iOS 17 Beta 6 ― Bug Fixes, Changes, and Improvements

Beta 5 was running very smoothly, beta 6 seems even better from my end. Everything is pretty much perfect so far.

If this were the final release, I’d be delighted. iOS 17 is shaping up very well on both my iPhone 14 Pro Max and M1 iPad Pro.

Side note: my battery health on the iPhone is still at 99%. The betas have not had any negative impact whatsoever. I think battery health is just a lottery. Every iPhone I get either has a good or bad battery - can never be sure when you purchase.

First time I've seen this on standby mode, with a nice animation for the notification.
 
I can't get out of the large album cover mode on the lockscreen, tapping it does nothing. Had this bug develop last night on Beta 5 and hasn't been resolved today on Beta 6. Hope this doesn't mean I have to do a full reinstall (does that mean wiping the device?)

Working fine for me
 
installed beta 6 today on iphone 12 pro max.

overheating is what i have - the screen and rear body is super hot!! Even in standby moe with no apps open - its warm (high side).

no luck with restarts or doing other adjustments. got only 2 options 1. factory reset or 2. revert back to ios 16

Agreed. No idea why it's all in caps as well. They've removed all caps text from other areas of the OS such as the "update" and "install" buttons in the App Store yet added it here. Weird.

That said, here is (ongoing?) one - delete an iMessage from one device and get the following message (see attached).
Sad thing is it doesn’t work. It only deletes from the single device leaving it as unread on the others.

Not seeing this. I just installed 17 on my iPad Pro and reading a message on it removes it from unread status on my ios 16 phone. Deleting a conversation on the ipad also deletes it from the phone. So no change in this function between the devices.

Sucks, cause super long audio messages used to only take 10 seconds or so to go through…I’m assuming it’s taking forever now due to the transcription feature.

Hopefully they’re able to fix this. Recording a 10-min audio message and then NOT having access to the Messages app for the next five minutes is pretty unacceptable.

Precisely. So where you are is always at the top of the list (if that’s where you put it). Seems pretty easy to understand to me. I could see somehow differentiating it (say by putting the “where you are” location name in brackets or something) but then we’d have threads complaining about that.

I noticed even during iOS 16 that the location awareness of the phone got much “tighter” to a selected location, both in the Home app and third party apps that use location awareness to do things like unlock doors.

For instance, my home app started asking me if I wanted to run the “arriving home” scene even if I had just taken the dogs a short distance on a walk (1-200 yds). And my lock started unlocking my door from inside the house as I got the dogs ready for their early morning outing even though I had never gone any further from my front door than my bedroom (45 feet).

Or 3., wait for the phone to finish its post-update indexing and stuff. I’m pretty sure 3. Is your answer.

This sometimes happens with me too. I've not done enough testing to work out if there's a trigger to it working/not working.
