Can’t complain about either one!
Getting great battery life and my 14 Pro Max is running rock solid.
Pretty happy with the quality of a .0-Release. That has been worse in the past, by far! :)

I know this is late in the game, but I'm grasping at straws here. Everyone, especially my parents, rave about their VZW coverage. When I got my 14PM, I switched for the savings between my plan and my FIOS.

I first noticed that I had no signal (either searching or straight up SOS) in places where I would normally expect to have signal. Major highways. Amusement parks*. Towns. Etc.. My girlfriend with her 13P on AT&T would be able to doomscroll all day, yet I couldn't even send an SMS.

*my family all being on VZW were able to use their phones without issue. I couldn't do anything data-related the entire time we were there. Even standing right next to them.

Then I started noticing times where I'd be at 2 bars of 5G or even 5 full bars of UW, yet couldn't connect to the internet. The only resolution was to reboot my phone. There's a UW node about a half block from where I live. The second my phone dropped off my wifi, I couldn't load Maps directions (even with 17's offline maps).

I've worked with VZW's tech support and got the usual "we see no outages" lines. I went to the Apple Store yesterday and my phone passed all of their testing. The Genius didn't come right out and blame the beta, but inferred that it could be a factor.

Has anyone else had trouble? This honestly started happening when I was on the betas for 16, but I only started seeing the unusable full signal problem in the last few weeks.

I had a similar but different issue just the other day. The phone dropped service in a bad service area and wouldn't connect back when I went into a good service area. After a normal reboot, it went back to normal and it hasn't happened again, even in the same place.

Also, I just got a carrier settings update today for Verizon, updated to version 55.1.

Can anyone see the find my AppleTV remote feature in the control center? I can't see it in mine :( Did it not make it to the initial iOS 17 release?

Not only do you need to update your iPhone and Apple TV but also the remote as well which only updates in its own time.

I tried with only Siri but it didn't work ... maybe I wasn't convincing enough 🤷🏻‍♀️ . I'll try again when my watch finished updating .

What device? iPhone is Settings>Siri & Search>Listen for> Then pick the setting you want.

Make sure Siri language is set to United States, seems like is not available with every language.

I just got the carrier update now.

Rebooting would fix the issue for me as well, at least temporarily, but I can't exactly do that while driving and (trying) to use Maps for navigation. So it's kind of a big deal for me.

  • Check In automatically notifies a family member or friend when you arrive at a destination safely and can share helpful information with them in case of a delay
  • Audio message transcription is available for audio messages you receive so you can read them in the moment and listen later
  • Search improvements help you find messages faster by allowing you to combine search filters such as people, keywords, and content types like photos or links to find exactly what you are looking for
  • Swipe to reply to a message inline by swiping to the right on any bubble
  • One-time verification code cleanup automatically deletes verification codes from the Messages app after using them with AutoFill in other apps
FaceTime

  • Multiple or single subjects can be lifted from the background of photos and videos and placed into apps like Messages
  • Visual Look Up in Video helps you learn about objects that appear in paused video frames
  • Visual Look Up for subjects in photos enables you to look up information about objects you lift from photos directly from the callout bar
Health
  • State of Mind reflection allows you to log your momentary emotion and daily mood, choose what factors are having the biggest impact on you, and describe your feelings
  • Interactive charts give you insights into your state of mind, how it has changed over time, and what factors may have influence such as exercise, sleep, and mindful minutes
  • Mental health assessments help you understand your current risk for depression and anxiety and if you might benefit from getting support
  • Screen Distance leverages the TrueDepth camera that powers Face ID to encourage you to increase the distance you view your device to reduce digital eye strain and can help reduce the risk of myopia in children
Privacy
  • Sensitive Content Warnings can be enabled to prevent users from unexpectedly being shown images containing nudity in Messages, AirDrop, Contact Posters in the Phone app, and FaceTime messages

Accessibility
  • Assistive Access distills apps and experiences to their essential features in Phone and FaceTime, Messages, Camera, Photos, and Music, including large text, visual alternatives, and focused choices to lighten cognitive load
  • Live Speech lets you type what you want to say and have it be spoken out loud in phone calls, FaceTime calls, and for in-person conversations
  • Personal Voice enables users who are at risk of losing their voice to privately and securely create a voice that sounds like them on iPhone, and use it with Live Speech in phone and FaceTime calls
  • Point and Speak in Magnifier Detection Mode uses iPhone to read text out loud on physical objects with small text labels, such as keypads on doors and buttons on appliances
This release also includes other features and improvements:
  • Roadside Assistance via satellite lets you contact AAA to help you with vehicle issues when out of Wi-Fi or cellular range (iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 14 Pro, iPhone 14 Pro Max)
  • Pets in the People album in Photos surfaces individual pets in the album just like friends or family members
  • Photos Album widget lets you select a specific album from the Photos app to appear in the widget

How to install beta via OTA?
  1. Enable Beta Updates (Settings>General>Software Updates>Beta Updates)
  2. Check and sign into the right Apple ID to access beta
  3. Select which beta you would like to receive (Public/Developer)
  4. Hit "Back" and pull down to refresh
  5. Do an encrypted backup or iCloud backup before installing the beta from release build
  6. Install the beta
If you no longer wish to receive beta updates:
  1. Turn off the Beta Updates (you can also sign out of your Apple ID to unlink your developer account)
  2. Wait for the next public release or follow the guide below to install the IPSW release build
Troubleshoot: Sometimes, the beta update will not show so you may need to enable/disable Airplane Mode or restart your device before rechecking for update.

How to install beta via IPSW on Mac?
  1. You will need to install either Xcode beta or MobileDevice.pkg which can be extracted from the Xcode beta (tap with two finger or right click to Show Package Content>Contents>Resources>Packages>MobileDevice.pkg - this will work on older Macs that do not support the latest macOS or Xcode beta)
  2. Do an encrypted backup in Finder in case you need to restore your device
  3. Hold down Option + Check for Update and select the appropriate IPSW file for your device (whether you're updating to a newer/beta firmware, reinstalling the same firmware or downgrading to previous firmware while retaining all your data) downloaded from Apple using your free developer account. Note: You must have an active internet connection as it will check the IPSW signing status before it will proceed with the update.
  4. Enter your iPhone passcode once prompted to proceed.
Notes/Tips:
  • Always keep a backup in case you need to restore your data if you restore your device
  • It may be better to close all apps before installing the updates and/or turn off your device for about a minute or restart a few minutes after your device is updated
  • You can also manually select the IPSW if you are restoring your device using Option + Restore iPhone. Restore will wipe all your personal data which you will need to restore your backup either using iCloud backup or Finder/iTunes backup
  • You do not need to install the MobileDevice.pkg from each Xcode beta version unless Finder does not recognize the new iOS beta
  • There is no MobileDevice.pkg equivalent to iTunes for PC which would require a new iTunes to support new/beta iOS
  • If you receive a new iPhone, you can connect to Mac to update or restore your device to the latest iOS before setting up your device.
  • You can also use the Recovery Mode/DFU to update or restore your device by manually selecting IPSW

As a bit of fun, the new update also deletes custom text or notification tones. Just been to change one, and the whole list has disappeared, so you can only have Apple created tones. Thankfully, you can use custom tones for ringtones
