This is quite a funny forum. We're like little kids in a playground just debating without any real knowledge. It's kinda fun/silly/representative of the entire internet at times.
We might not have much knowledge but we have a few leads but yes it’s mostly shooting arrows in the dark.
 
Don't see how one-week pause of iOS 18 is going to make a difference given it's not out for another 10 months?
They work in milestones, where only a small set of changes/features are worked on until the end of the sprint, and then begin working on a second set of changes/features, so on and such.

What it sounds like is that they’ve finished their first round of changes and additions, and testing of those have resulted in more bugs than acceptable at that point. So instead of moving onto the next set of features to add, they’re cleaning up bugs from the previous round.
