February 12, 2023 was a Monday, February 10, 2022 was a Thursday. I would say 17.3.1 is still possible yet today, though I would lean towards Monday.

MacRumors carefully marked their 17.3.1 topic as likely not guaranteed. So because Apple is so involved with 17.4 it might not be anything that would be rushed out unless of some zero day security instance. Against iOS 18 rumors, Apple has been busy recently with buying AI startups.

The paywalled Statista report is summarised by Stocklytics.

Apple’s pursuit of AI innovation has been evident in recent years. The tech giant has made a series of strategic acquisitions, including staff hires from AI startups to bolster its AI capabilities across various product lines.
Apple purchased up to 32 AI startups by 2023, the highest number among tech giants. In the overall AI startup acquisition, Google trails Apple with 21, Meta with 18, and Microsoft lags with 17.

Agree and Thursday is common day as well. Even as late at 1:00 PST

[Edit] ok so not quite 1:00 PST but Thursday none the less. :)

It looks there won't be a public update or should I say non-Beta until March 2nd. so people better enjoy 17.3.1

As an aside, when will an iOS 18 Speculation Thread be set up? We’re not that far out from June. It would be interesting to have a place to start discussing some of the features we think will drop in iOS 18.

Now, back on topic, so far the second developer beta for iPadOS 17.4 has been running very smooth for me. 👍🏻

The problem is that some of the rumored features are nebulous. No one know really that much on how Ajax will be integrated with Siri, parts of the OS and apps, MacOS applications. Can't say Safari as it stand now does a good job with popup ads security at all. Try Brave if you want to see how different that can be with some ad happy sites.

Whats the next step in browser security. IOS 17.4 and 17.5 will show the initial evolution of how separated browser engines will work. But all of that is WIP for the vendors of those browsers.

Something might be exciting about messaging changes but again thats as early as some late IOS 17.x to 18.x

Even things involving more ways to conduct multiple language conversations and translations is occurring in the late 17.x to 18.x.

Here we are in the first real change of iOS with the stores, browsers with 17.4 and we don't necessary know all the facts of compliance involved that Apple is planning. So even if June WWDC is upcoming 4 months, its like we don't know what of value is their goal this year other then whats mentioned.

Addition tibits
For example, the report claims that the Apple TV app on iPadOS 18 will feature the same translucent navigation bar that was introduced in the tvOS 17.2 version of the app last year. The design of this menu draws similarities to visionOS, the operating system that runs on Apple's new Vision Pro headset, which launched in the U.S. last week.
I can't really visualize iOS/IPadOS utilizing translucent menus, certainly MacOS, but time will tell. This involves the GUI shown in Vision Pro the use have rounder corners, shadows, and depth, since the windows are always floating and overlapping a complex background.

BTW anything that makes the GUI more snazzy would effect GPU usage that consumes battery for iOS/IPadOS. But hey the emperor needs new clothes on occasion. iOS the display is just too small to offer a menu, iPadOS the app uses a similar home menu but not translucent.
